My husband usually complains about food at any place he is, and he is doing well with the hospital food here. The nurses are excellent and he has been seen by doctors from the care team. It may feel as if there is a lack of communication before being admitted, but we found that the nurses and staff are working together to accommodate all of his needs and requests so that once he was in the room, everything was in order and specialist started showing up to see him almost immediately. The MyChart app is extremely helpful as I can confirm that his care is progressing well. Once he is taken into surgery, I will be updated via text in real time and can ask questions of the care team, if necessary. This is far superior to communication from other hospitals. We don't live close to SF, so the drive is a drawback since he is in for a week. And the larger hassle is parking. Valet parking is available, but the hours are limited and getting your vehicle is a challenge. Plus the cost adds up. This means that instead of having visitors twice a day, he will see someone once a day.

The hospital is extremely busy with a variety of cases, it reminds me of an episode of the Pitt. The hospital staff does the best it can but with all the people coming in, it's hard to manage. We got triaged and waiting a long time to seen but I understand because we have a "problem" but it's not life threatening like some of the people walking in the door. So we wait. He was admitted and there wasn't a room available for about a day, it's not the hospitals fault. They are doing their best with what they have. Our health care system is broken and blaming the hospital with one and two stars is easy to do, we have only received the best care available when we have been at the hospital and I am grateful to the staff who do what they can. We live over two hours away and I drive to get care here because they are the best. People might not agree and I know we hate to wait, but I would rather be seen by the best.

Super convenient that everything is practically located in one area so you're not having to run around town to various offices, pharmacies, and labs to get everything done. I love their online app/portal that makes scheduling appointments, ordering medications, and sending messages to your doctors easier. I can also access my medical records with ease through the portal - really helps when it comes to figuring out when my last yearly physical was or when my last immunization was done. The first time I experienced Kaiser here in SF it felt almost like being at the DMV. Big digital screens with patient names and call numbers for when it's your turn - particularly when getting blood draws and picking up prescriptions - but it's super efficient even at the busiest times when you think you'll be waiting an eternity. I've had nothing but good experiences with all the staff as well from the front desk administration to the nurses and doctors. Even the cafeteria workers are super pleasant at this location the few times I've decided to grab a coffee or a quick snack. I'm relatively healthy - knock on wood - and most of my medical appointments have been for just yearly checkups and one breast biopsy which I was totally expecting to be traumatic but it was surprisingly non frightening and went so much smoother than I was preparing for. I haven't yet had to see a specialist outside of that or have any ER visits or surgeries at Kaiser so I can't critique them in any of those categories but for preventative care I give them a hearty thumbs up.

Day 6 and counting... Yeah it's old school, but the windows open to fresh air. I always have a lovely view, this time with a glimpse of the bay. The WiFi is fast, I dig the old school private bathrooms however it would be nice to have handheld shower heads. Also the automatic sink in my room didn't work. It gets boring being stuck in a hospital so I ordered some sheet masks and Amazon delivered. Had no issues getting those to my room. Also DoorDash is no issue. The nurses are efficient and friendly and put up with my demands lol. From the nurse attendants to janitorial staff to night shift nurses, everyone has been professional. Shout out to nurses Tiffany and Fabio who made my stay more tolerable. I hope to get out of here in a couple of days. If I have the misfortune of being here again, I won't be dreading it.

What surprised me my last checkup was that he noticed a change in my physique after I started lifting weights and losing weight even after not seeing him for years. I love the chiropracting care here. I started with Maymie Chan probably close to 7 years ago. Since then I have lost significant weight, improved my health measurements, and feel physically and mentally healthy. Their chiropractic department is very important here. They are always booked months in advance which is unfortunate but stresses how important this department is. The care here has helped me understand and adopt healthy practices in life. I hope to be walking, talking, and self sufficient when I am old and its great that I can come here and receive preventative care. My goal is longevity and their current chiropractor is very knowledgeable and he is very up to date on new health information.

We've seen other doctors who have been the best in terms of professionalism and care. The gift shop has been accommodating when I went in hoping to get something to help my husband feel better for his ride home. And, at times, a pianist is playing a beautiful grand piano in the lobby, which is open to the floors above. It is very soothing.

There are two elevator banks marked A and C to the right of the lobby area and down the hall. As I left, I noticed the valet parking guy setting up his sign and stand. I was fortunate to find a metered space but didn't have to pay since the meters were not in effect at that time. Given the meter rates in the City these days, you may be better off using this service. Please note that the valet stand is only weekdays as parking is not difficult with meters not enforced weekends. I hope that the staff that cares for my friend are as nice as the physical visage of the hospital.

Every time I come, I park in the lot while having my pass validated inside the hospital. The most I've had to pay for parking is $2, sometimes $1 depending on how long your appt is. Once you enter inside, the facility is pretty clean and someone greets you where you validate parking. I've had appts on various floors, and every office/bathroom has been extremely clean. The staff is also very nice, from the doctors to the nurses to the check-in counter. Their pharmacy is also fast and efficient once you put your order through. I've changed doctors a few different times. It takes time to find the right one. I see my MD more often than my OB/GYN. We have some pretty good convos in person and over online calls :) I actually prefer Kaiser over other types of insurance.

I saw a podiatrist, this lady scolded me into not going to the nail salons because according to her they are full of bacteria. I am 50 years old, health advice is one thing but scolding you like a child is another. This toenail situation went on and up until now. I was given a 90day medicationand was warned that it may affect my liver or kidney. Early this year, I requested to see a podiatrist again, but requested a different one because Iwas traumatized withthe first. This second one's advice is to take off the whole nail but does notguaranteee it will grow back if not there is no more solution. I said to him "in this day and age that we have Waymos, there is no cure for my toenail????" Cancer has cure, birthing a baby's recuperation at the hospital and this has no cure. So I accepted this, from Jan to date I cant wear socks, shoes and that toenail is painful everyday. I searched on google and yelp for the best podiatrist in SF, unfortunately they dont want to take me because I have Kaiser insurance and they always say why not go to Kaiser and I told them they said the solution is to take the nail off but not guaranty that it will grow back. Tuesdsay, I had an appointment with a Podiatrist from SutterHealth, I dont mind paying out of pocket at this point. When we had the consult I feel great when I was told that they can help. Imagine that? Now, I have some rashes from the sandals I have been wearing all this time so he suggested that I go back to Kaiser and see a dermatoligist for the contact dematitis so that Iwill not be charged with him since I am paying him out of pocket. Yesterday, I went to Kaiser and met with the dermatologist and guess what? She said that she was also surprised that Iwas told what Iwas told. She asked if I want to give another Kaiser Podiatrist a chance, I said I dont trust them and besides time is off the essence now. I have my surgery with Sutter Health next week, I cant keep going on like this. I need a solution. You all heard what they say about Kaiser, been with them since 2004 from different employers...I think it's time to look for a better healthcare.
