I've been seeing Dr Kim at Fort Lee Vision ever since I moved to Fort Lee. My experience overall has been positive. Her staff is professional and there's never usually a wait to see her. During my vision exam, Dr Kim was very thorough in her questions. Her associate, Kiara, was very patient with me during my appointment (it was my first time trying on contacts). They do charge a fee for the contacts training. I believe that's standard (but as people below noted, the fee is quite high at $70). They do provide trial lenses though and a follow up appointment included in the fee. In terms of their collection of glasses and contacts, they don't have a ton of variety but they can probably order other glasses to their store. I don't really think the negative reviews are justified. I received good service and I would continue coming back here. I was given three diferrent prescription, charged $360 for a pair of glasses on top of my vision insurance charge and when I did not see much in my new pair of glasses, this doctor refused to take the order back for refund. Originally they sold me a pair of Lindbergh eyeglasses for over $1000. the glasses broke a couple months later & they refused to replace it then I found out they don't even represent Lindbergh eyeglasses so they made me buy another pair with a small discount and they charge me full price for the lenses which I got the highest quality possible than the coating wore off, and when I went back they did nothing about fixing Stay away!!!! read more

Well, it was time for my exam and new contact prescription. I had a bad experience with a chain store and decided to go to a local small business and give them a try. I researched a few that handled my insurance in the area and I decided to give Fort Lee Vision a try. I walked in and the receptionist/Tech took my info and did a preliminary exam. I then saw Dr. Diane Kim and chatted a bit and she asked some questions and proceeded to the exam portion. She corrected my prescription and I can see better and read with my multi-focal lenses. Worst experience They charge me for contact lenses fitting (5days sample not for sale item) as $115. $80 for that fitting lenses $35 training fee which is teach you how to wear the contact lenses. This place is just alright. The one thing I did really like about this place was the communication. They text you about your appointment, and are pretty flexible if you need a reschedule. The people who work here are definitely nice and it's a friendly office. I enjoyed my front desk and eye glasses adjustment experience! I didn't really feel positive about the doctor, however. During my eye test, she kept leading me toward a specific answer, like "oh, this one looks better than this one right?", and "oh, are you sure you think this one looks better?". I'm sure she's the expert and knows best, but it felt like my eye exam was just me agreeing with her and even if I didn't, I'd end up agreeing with her. The questions were a bit leading, but maybe it's just something I wasn't used to. I also felt like they were trying to upsell me the entire time, which made my experience a little less positive. My previous review was deleted from google reviews but it should be well noted that the owner is very aggressive. Back on March 23, 2021 I saw something absolutely horrific where the owner proceeded to attack an elder costumer. The owner appeared to be instigating the situation by knocking the poor man's hat off and that made the old man aggravated and raise his fists. That is when the owner punched the costumer and the old man fell to the ground, An ambulance was soon there after as well as the police. But no arrests were made. Later on the business replied to my comment and they had the AUDACITY to say "IT WAS A FORMER EMPLOYEE AND THAT THE OLD MAN WAS NOT A COSTUMER" When I was the one who helped the old man who was asking status about his glasses and I STILL see the "former employee" going in and out before business hours therefore making him more than a regular employee. Unethical! And it's really too bad because I'm supportive of small family owned/operated businesses. The owner seems to like to belittle her staff as though they're cattle. Furthermore, what was unbecoming was when she did it right in front of the customer (me!). I once intercepted by telling her that her intern was doing a great job...for her to reply, "NO, he NEEDS to learn." I get it, but the poor kid's lack of self-esteem withered away. Additionally, I felt probed and interrogated during the examination with questions like, "Where do you live?" "Which Street?" I later knew why she asked...it was to upsell the designer collections and also to size me up or down. I went there only for convenience and because she accepted my insurance. But no more. Horrible experience(s). Advice: Walk a few stores down to Walgreens to take your blood pressure afterwards...you may find that it spiked. Far more opticians around the area. Reading reviews matter! Terrible service. Lost my outside frame and lenses while being shipped out for new lenses. Blaming on UPS and did not have a tracking number. Dr. Kim who had examined my eye sight scared the hell out of me saying that I have a double vision and might have had a mini stroke which prompted me to go see a doctor right away. All the test came back negative. Meanwhile they are not responsible for my glasses when shipping out outside frame. Lost about $600 worth of glasses and new frame. To make things worse, I went to LensCrafters and got new glasses with Dr. Kim's née prescription but something must be wrong. I cannot see anything with new glasses. Staff is rude. Doctor tries to convince my daughter not to get contacts. Didn't want me in room when she did eye exam on my 14 year old son. Purchased overpriced frames and even extra to thin out lenses for him. Lenses kept popping out. Kept having to bring them back. Girl kept blaming it on prescription. Then told me frames seemed to have shrunk. Then told me she could only send them back to insurance. That they were go blame. My son will have to wait for two weeks without any glasses. The representatives there are extremely pleasant. The glasses i purchased were superb. Im happy i came here. Their selection are sensible priced for everybody budget. The store has the least expensive set for around $70 plus tax. I bought an extremely good quality pair of glasses for around $300. They work great, no glares, fit comfortably and look amazing. I came to the store around 4:30 on a saturday. We strolled through the counter and the sale rep was there to help immediately. I chose my frame and was directed to the eye exam specialist inside who then ran through the eye tests to determine the current number on my prescription and the frame compatibility. It took around 20 minutes or so, she was very friendly and knowledgeable during the eye exam. Afterward they told me my glasses will be ready the next business day at around 2pm. I came back on monday and my glasses was ready. The counter rep told me that i should try it on to make adjustments to the fitting. I put on my new glasses and i look awesome with it. I was once told by an established customer that Dr. Kim would often hired but; the employees were never constant and/or consistent in remaining. A functioning business consist of a leader who's a patient individual willing to teach. We live in an era where patience and compassion should be adhere. I worked for a short period and instantly experienced unprofessional guidance. The whole business from the bathroom, break room and the real plants on display were highly neglected. Contact lenses meant to be distributed for free; were being sold. Affordable glasses hidden to lessen the choices in options. I experienced psychological abuse and manipulation in the form of Dr. Kim wanting to control her expectations. We are not robots! We are human beings! Dr. Kim has spoken about not being interested in servicing the black and brown community. The lack in her persona and customer service skills is evident. I was eager to work and provide for my daughter. As a mixed race individual I wanted to make everyone feel welcomed. I wanted to make use of my traits while working an intricate but, important position. My time and energy was taken for granted. I was presented with an illusion. This review is based on visiting the establishment on three different occations. Came here since they welcome walk ins. Initial visit was for someone else but, she was so happy with her prescription and the ease of in and out, I decided to give it a try as well. Called on a random Thursday evening and confirmed that it was ok to do a walk in. I wanted a place to get new prescription for contacts & glasses without all the fuss. They seem to accept most major insurance. Ample parking in a private lot, small but clean space and friendly staff greeted me. Optometrist was very through and she took her time without rushing through. Once exam finished, I picked out a frame and was quoted one weeks time for the glasses to arrive. There are several options for frames arranging from just over $100 - $300+. Upon follow up visit, they even provided me with a sample pair of contacts as back up while my order arrives. I love my new glasses and will recommend this place to those looking for great pair of glasses or contacts. read more

Where do I start. A customer who came in after me was seen before me and the doctor is very rude and dismissive toward her employees. Maybe it's warranted though because her employees seem to have no idea what they are doing, but it's still very unprofessional. The other people who have commented on here about how expensive the glasses are, are not exaggerating. And this wouldn't even be that bad if their cheaper glasses were a real option. But these glasses look and feel so cheap that I couldn't help but think I could have 3D printed out a better pair myself. I recommend going elsewhere unless you want to waste 3 hours here and leave feeling ripped off. And they don't let you use their bathroom, by the way. Freshly graduated from college with a new job, I moved into the area about two weeks ago and looked up the closest place on Google for a contact exam. Fort Lee vision came up. Going here was extremely intimidating. No one was friendly. Dr. Kim bullied me into getting glasses I never wanted. Yes, I paid for them and everything. I feel stupid about it. But she talked me into getting over priced glasses. She didn't even help me pick them out, just left me in the store by myself. I've never felt so discouraged in my life. I originally had dailies thanks to my dad's insurance. However, now that I'm on my own I was looking for something less pricey. When I told Dr. Kim that I wanted to switch to monthlies, she basically convinced me not to. She told me I had to clean and rinse, which is obvious. I wanted her to teach me but she refused. Basically the worst place ever. I made the mistake of not looking at reviews and spending a lot of money when I had very little. Dr. Diane Kim is always so pleasant and caring and after having been her patient for over 7 years, I have only great things to say about her! She genuinely cares for her patients! She is also very knowledgeable and finds/suggests the best approach to issues. The eye exams I receive here are the best ever. Very thorough! The best part - my vision despite my astigmatism is 20/20. Several other doctors had recommended eye surgery but Dr. Kim was able to give me 20/20 vision. If you want an eye doctor that gives you fluff, this isn't the place for you. However, if you want a straightforward, knowledgeable doctor who will address concerns you didn't even know you had (i.e. getting your contact lenses fitted), then you should come here. I had no idea that the proper way to get your contacts lenses is to get an exam and get fitted for them, but Dr. Kim explained all of that and more. I was able to make an appointment just a day ahead and they were able to get me in. Dr. Kim is honest and knows what she's talking about. She was thorough and explained different aspects of my eye exam. She was patient about the fact that I have to go back to do the contact lens fitting next week. Her staff are pretty friendly also. Hannah was the one who helped me pick out glasses and she was super patient. I explained to her what I was looking for in glasses and she started by showing me some great frames that were exactly what I had described. It only took me about 10 minutes to pick them out and I'm pretty indecisive. I give Hannah props for helping me choose. She was professional yet when I asked her for her opinion, she gave me honest answers. When shopping alone, I think it's nice to have the people behind the counter give you their input. I'm glad I decided to visit Fort Lee Vision for my eye care needs. They have a great selection of frames that are currently in trend. UPDATE: I have since picked up my glasses and they are perfect. Too bad I had to give Fort Lee Vision a star at all. Please Do not go to this location. They will rip you off for all they can. I purchased expensive high end glasses with a very strong prescription (without insurance). It took almost 2 weeks to get them after I was told only a few days. After I received them, I went to another Optical for my other child and they got me the same exact pair and prescription for litterally $575 less than what I paid Fort Lee Vision. Then when I came back to Fort Lee Vision to purchase another pair because his glasses was lost. They only offered me only a $20 discount?! What a slap in the face! Especially for a RETURN CUSTOMER! Highly recommend. My family and I have been coming here for 5 years, and we do not plan on leaving. I have been wanting to switch over to contacts for years but experienced several difficulties with other places. My eyes are very unique/difficult, however, Fort Lee Vision worked with me since day one with extreme detail and care. They put the customer's interest as first priority and try to accommodate to the best of their ability. With new additions to the staff, Fort Lee Vision's hospitality has increased in a positive manner. I would love to give this place 0 stars but there is no option. UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE DO NOT GO HERE!! I REPEAT DO NOT GO HERE!!! I am an eyeglass lover. I own multiple eyeglasses and sometimes switch over to contact lenses. However, I like the different styles and looks i can pull off with eyeglasses. I usually go to lens crafters or another korean store near palisades park but checked out a store close to my house in Tenafly in which I bought my new big frames. However, I work near Fort Lee and wanted to check this new place out. Inside it looks great! They have wonderful frames and I was excited to be a future customer. During my quick lunch break I stop in just to make sure the prescription of my eyeglasses. I know I can simply ask the store in Tenafly, but I figured it wouldn't be a problem to double check at a location near my work area. It was unfortunate but the girl at the front was able to dipense that I had astigamatism in my right lens for my eyeglasses but wouldn't let me know my prescritpion which could be simply read off from the machine. I was causing a scene because I just couldn't believe a fellow korean couldn't help another korean. Yet finally a very pale woman doctor came out and mentioned that because I did not MAKE AN APPOINTMENT for a check up she could not help me.Essentially, because I didn't pay for a checkup or for anything else, they can not let me know of the prescription on the eyeglasses I was wearing. (HOW RIDICULOUS! THEY ALREADY KNEW WHAT IT WAS) I called Lens Crafters, Pearle Vision, and even Palisades Park eye glass store and they mentioned that they can simply read off the prescription of the eyeglasses if I bring them in or wear them. THIS STORE WAS A COMPLETE WASTE OF MY TIME. THEY DID NOT WANT TO HELP A PATIENT BECAUSE I WAS NOT PAYING FOR ANYTHING. I coulnd't believe koreans could be so cheap! It is not difficult to get appointments, even on the same day. 3. The doctor is thorough with her exam, patient with me, honest, and knows her facts. 4. The staff is courteous and go out of their way to get information for you. 5. The office is VERY clean with lots of parking. 6. They take VSP insurance!
