I came into office to schedule appt because they take my insurance and then when i came for my appointment day I was told that I wasn't on schedule but they can see me as a walkin but when i told her my insurance she said we don't take your insurance and I would havr to pay $170 for my visit. I noticed a lot of positive reviews for this place so I decided to visit for a recent eye exam. Dr. Van was extremely knowledgeable and I really appreciated how approachable (and direct) he was about my exam and any questions I had related to it. He really does have a lot of experience behind his practice and he is genuinely receptive to patient concerns. I also found the staff to be very helpful and easy to work with. When I was choosing my new glasses and frames, they were very patient and answered all of my many questions. They also were great at spelling out how my insurance covered different parts of the exam, glasses etc. In short, this is a good place if you're looking for a reliable option for your vision needs. read more

I had Lasix about 11 years ago and now my vision has started to regress. Not enough that I *need* to wear glasses, but enough that sometimes I prefer to wear them, so I got a pair of prescription sunglasses at Pearle Vision and given this shop is in my neighborhood decided to come and check it out. It shop looks rather boutique-y and it's right up the street from me. I walked in without an appointment, just to check it out, see what frames they have, etc. Everyone there was very nice and friendly. I guess it was slow, so the doctor was out in the lobby area with the frames and talked with me about what my needs were. I didn't need a prescription because I had already gotten an exam from my ophthalmologist, so I cannot really speak to the accuracy of the exam. I did end up buying glasses from him. I'm not really sure why though in retrospect. I think I felt a bit pressured to buy glasses after he spent so much time with me. He mentioned several times he was doing some measurements (pupillary distance) for me for free on the assumption I'd be buying glasses. I have a super simple prescription and the glasses were really expensive. That said, I do like the idea of supporting local businesses in the neighborhood rather than big chain eye doctors. I'm not sure if I'll go back here when I need to get new glasses or my prescription changes... the doctor does seem really knowledgeable and I have no doubt he has a lot of expertise, but the sales pitch felt pretty high pressure. If you do go, just know that you may get a bit of a high pressure sales pitch. read more

He takes his time with each patient, explains what is going on with your eye health and gives recommendations to improve your vision and ocular health over your lifetime. Dr. Van seems extremely knowledgeable and experienced and on top of that, has so much enthusiasm for good vision. He loves his profession and it shows in the way he treats his patients. Dr Van is the best! I am very paranoid about dr's I went online and I saw good reviews on google and went to his place of practice Okay so he explained what my floaters and strain was from..: no dr did that. He even showed me pictures of my eye!!!!!. In the past l went to the ER bc they gave me panic attacks. He explained and I was like yup. What you are saying is what happened to me. No dr did that. I live in saddle brook and went down to cliffside park. I tried the Dr's in my area.... but no..: I did not feel at ease.. they looked at me as as a nut. He has been there done that which was awesome!!!! I thought he was going to say you have this, this and this like every other dr. He did not. He was straight to the point. They were floaters in my eye from being on lap top 24 7 (for work) and then anxiety. ( which I am being treated for. I did not tell him that . He just knew. . Like everyone was saying So not only did he help my eye exam but he helped my anxiety lol. He really is cool and worth the trip. He even looks like Roger from Mad Men. Lol. Anyway best eye dr!! Please do not hesitate to use Dr. Van he is extremely professional and to the point..I was suffering from a corneal abrasion which I had no idea I had and just thought it was something in my eye and tried to get out, which only made it worse.Not being able to contact my eye doctor on a Saturday I googled eye doctors in my area and found Dr.Van's office. I called the office in extreme pain and the receptionist was so helpful and patient with me and gave me an appointment as soon as she could.I arrived and Dr.Van diagnosed the situation within minutes and eased my pain. He educated me on exactly what a corneal abrasion is and the treatment I needed. At my follow up appointment the receptionist was concerned about how I was feeling and Dr. Van was happy to see me doing better. I would highly recommend Cliffside Park Eye Associates. read more

About a week ago I had tremendous eye pain in my right eye at night. I called up the office and told the wonderful person that I was in discomfort. She said no problem and if I would line to come in that afternoon. I was so happy because most places would make you wait. The Dr saw me immediately and spent an hour going over all the problems including a scratch on my cornea that was causing the pain. He went through everything with me and gave me such a great eye exam. Many eye drops and wrote a prescription for an eye antibiotic. I also have dry eye which he is currently treating. I highly recommend dr van to anyone . The staff and dr van are so knowledgeable and king and thoughtful. I wouldn't trust my eyes to anyone else. I've been wearing glasses since I was 7 and I'm so grateful for a doctor who takes him time and understands. Thank you dr van for all that you do. Excellent! read more

It was my first time visiting Cliffiside Park Eye Associates . (one of my friend highly recommended Dr.Van ) and I have to say Dr.Van is one of the best eye doctor I have seen in my life. He is extremely patient(I was given eye exam first and he explained what is the problem and extremely patiently explained how to prevent from getting worse blah blah blah and answered my questions thoroughly . he's very PROFESSIONAL,informative ,experience and excellent personality . I felt very comfortable while visiting . And the staff I believe her name is GIGI (not very sure-__-;;; ) she was very very kind and helpful . I tried all most 1/2 of the frames I was visiting, (well most of times staffs will getting tired of that I can tell clearly ) but the staffs are very sweet ...I would definitely recommend Cliffside park eye associates .
