I will say in the email you get for confirmation for booking states you must arrive 30 min early which we did and when we did the girls checking us in seemed super passive aggressive told us to come back in 40 min. There was a parade going on and the cattle drive so this was fine but at check in there was 0 customer service. I understand that the customer service industry is not always the most fun but it's what you make of it also they signed up to do this job so might as well fake it till ya make it. We had the guys lead us on the trail ride and they were great and they knew what they were doing. Basically would do again but would have definitely set the day up for success if the customer service would have been a little more...welcoming? read more

I brought my 3 year old granddaughter to the petty zoo. Let me first say there are only goats and a few sheep and it's all under a tent. These were some super aggressive goats! They jumped up on the fence and were right in your face! We purchased the $3 cup of feed and a goat took the cup from me. We were seriously out of there is 7 mins! A big waste of $16. So much has gone into the development of The Stockyards, so much retail and tourism, but zero attention to an attraction that could be a lot of fun for our little ones! So we went to the zoo, the Texas portion of the zoo did have a petting zoo and the kiddos walked amongst them, were provided brushes and got up close and personal with the goats! There were e hubs on farming, with rabbits, pigs and chickens. A lot of fun and worth the $23 to go for just a few hours! read more

We were in town from Boston for the Cotton Bowl and did a ton of amazing things, but this was by far his favorite part of the trip. I came here from out of town with some military friends. It was definitely a new and fun experience. All the ladies working were very nice and understanding. All the horses we behaved well. You just have to watch out for locals driving and forgetting that a horse will jack up their cars. We had at least six people in our group who had never ridden a horse before and we had no issues. This was not my first experience riding a horse, but I believe that this is a great opportunity, to allow others an adventure that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Be advised the day that I rode the horse it was about 103° outside in the great state of Texas. So make sure you have sunblock on, a hat and possibly sleeves. The ride the we did was an hour long. Took grandson to the Petting Zoo at the Stockyards. Parking in the nearby lot is $17.50, pretty steep for parking. Kids under 2 are free, but $5 for each adult, which is fine. $3 for cups of food for animals, which is fine. Animals are under a tent, thank God, cuz it was 101 degrees out. They are on concrete with some dry straw on the ground. This is a hard surface for these animals to be walking and sitting on all day everyday. I hope they change out these animals on a daily basis. The animals do not look well cared for. The sheep was in desperate need of sheering in this hot heat. There was a ton of goats, 1 baby longhorn, 2 pigs, so not a great variety of animals. You cannot go in the pen and the animals jump on the fence and paw at you for the food, which is somewhat dangerous for really young children. These animals don't look well cared for at all and so this was not an enjoyable experience. You want to see well cared for animals. It's clear they are using these animals to make money and it makes me wonder how all the animals are being treated at the Stockyards and if they all aren't being used and abused just to make money. read more

If you are someone who has 0 horseback riding experience I wouldn't really recommend this place. All of the employees seemed very "over it". They pick a horse, put you on it, and tell you how to pull the reigns briefly. All the cowboys just seemed miserable to be there and unhelpful. I asked the guy to repeat how to turn and stop and he said don't worry you'll figure it out, the horse knows what to do. im glad i got to ride a horse i just dont think it was the safest experience. atleast pretend to care. this whole place is a liability. read more

Horses are great and it's a nice ride. 45 minutes went by fast I think getting ready too go time is included in that so short ride. trail guide in front (I was 1st guest behind her) was on her phone while riding and had absolutely no interaction with me. She did look back to make sure group was together. Another female trail guide went to the front at one point then those two talked for the remainder of the ride. My husband and daughter were a few horses back and said the male trail guide talked to them a little. I was able to get pictures only because I asked before getting off and stayed to get pics of my family. Would have been nice if they asked to help with that so I didn't feel like I was bothering them. i Would have felt safer if trail guides seemed on top of things. One ladies horse she couldn't control and they did little to help her. Luckily mine, and my families horses were perfectly behaved. They could work on upping their care for customers in my opinion. read more

This is the spot to get your Cowboys tour and see live cattle!!! Things to do here: watch cattle drive. They have it everyday at 11:30am and 4:00pm. I had the worst experience for the horseback riding event. My horse's name was "Cowboy" and my appointment at the stable was @ 3:15. Cowboy constantly ate grass throughout the ride and then eventually decided to lay down on his two front legs cause me to go over and eventually falling off. I'm a left with a completely sore body the next day. BEWARE OF THE TIME AND HORSE YOU GET, these beautiful animals are extremely tired from the heat and seems to be hungry as well. read more

The Fort Worth Stockyards Stables is the closest I've ever gotten to longhorns, and saved my trip to Fort Worth for being cow-less. Unfortunately, due to poor weather, all cattle drives were canceled during my NYE visit. During our last day in Fort Worth, we wandered towards the stables in hopes the drive was still on. We thankfully met some courteous cowboys who crushed our dreams, but then redirected our hopes towards the stables. Not sure if it's usually free to visit, but we didn't pay a dime that day. We could get within a couple hundred feet of these gorgeous creatures and see them in their daily environment. We were right above them, and one foul move would've retendered us without a cell phone and some happy longhorns with new iPhones. They were majestic and cute in their "natural" or "natural to Fort Worth" habitat. One longhorn even had the identical coloring to my dog! Based on other reviews, it seems like the stables have some other great offerings. However, if you are just looking to quench your thirst to see a cow, this place will surely do the trick. read more

The Petting Zoo is a rip off. It's not even a petting zoo. Your kids don't get to go in and pet any animals. There are goats and one llama all behind a very tall fence. It's $5/person and $3 for a cup of feed. Would not do this again. read more

This place is not interested in providing any sort of experience besides riding a horse. I believe our guide's name was Joe and he literally did zero narration. Such a shame because the trail itself is quite scenic and I'm sure there is plenty that he could have talked about. None of the workers seemed excited to be working here. It was my first time riding. Horses were a bit on edge and weren't in the best condition but the issue that really got me was someone was thrown off and my horse was aggressively fighting with someone else's horse as well it was an unorganized mess when I was there but a girl was nice enough to talk to me and encourage me on the way back as she held the reigns after I got off crying scared cuz I'm a chicken... she let me know this was just a weird day for them they usually are well behaved and they have been acting up. My aunt couldn't join me either cuz her horse wasn't having a day either. So check them out beforehand and have some experience definitely not for beginners, but I'm not gunna lie it was a fun experience being able to ride. And they were very kind so I didn't want to give a bad review but an honest one. It is a lot of work dealing with it and animals can be unpredictable so I don't blame anyone just a rough time for me. Would like to try somewhere with a smaller group next time read more
