Both of my elderly dogs have crossed the rainbow bridge this summer. Both in the weeks immediately following her care. Did she neglect them? Did she not give them their medication? I am sick and heartbroken.

And I have never written a Yelp review before, however our horrible experience has compelled me to write a review so that nobody else experiences the same thing that we did. We hired Mackenzie Sharp of Walk the Dog. We interviewed several people, and eventually decided on Mackenzie. We have a little zoo.... four dogs, a cat, a lizard and a snake. We also have a garden that needs watering. Two of our dogs have high anxiety issues. We were looking for someone to live in our home, and to be there the majority of the time. Mackenzie assured us that this would be what she would do, and may be gone 4-5 hours mid day, but otherwise would be there. She also shared with us that she would be the only person coming into our home. I appreciated this especially because we have rescue dogs that can still be quite nervous, and I am hesitant to have them meet any new person without me present....I just wouldn't want them to react negatively. We went over the instructions clearly, and also wrote out everything in detail, including medication that needed to be given to two of the dogs twice per day. Mackenzie assured us that she would communicate regularly and send photos regularly. We left town on Friday June 30, 2017. Mackenzie came to our home early that morning so she would be there when we left. Over the next few days our communication was sporadic with Mackenzie. She wouldn't always respond and we received one photo. On Sunday evening around 11:00 our meighbors attempted to reach me through text. I did not see this text until Monday morning. When I called them they had said that our dogs had been barking in the back yard from approximately 3pm until 3am. They said it was a very anxious and comsistent (every minute) barking at the back yard. They said that other people were yelling at our dogs to stop and that someone had been walking around blowing a dog whistle. They said this had gone on Friday and Saturday night as well. I then attempted to reach Mackenzie. After a couple of hours she returned my call. She said that she was dealing with a spider infestation in her home and she wasn't able to be at my home as much. She also told me that her boyfriend had been coming over to help her at our house. We contacted some friends of ours who agreed to take the dogs, and we had Mackenzie bring them there. When we returned home we found urine all over the home. It took us awhile to calm the dogs, and retrain one of them to not urinate in the home. And so to summarize, we hired Mackenzie to live in our home while we were away, feed, walk, give medicine to, and be with our pets. Instead, she was hardly ever there. She left the dogs either inside or outside for 12 plus hours at a time. They did not get their medication when needed. Our home was covered with at least 30 urine spots. She did not communicate with us to let us know there was an issue. She let a stranger to our dogs into our home (when it was clear this wasn't supposed to happen). I am more than frustrated with this situation. Mackenzie Sparp may look good on paper. She may seem like a good fit when you meet her, but she is not a woman of her word. I felt deceived, lied to, and most of all sorry that our pets were out through this. I was also very frustrated with the time and money that we had to put into cleaning our carpets. On top of that, we were put in a position of needing to apologize to many surrounding neighbors for the disturbance. My recommendation is that you STEER CLEAR OF MACKENZIE SHARP AND WALK THE DOG.

Get a call at 4 pm on Friday saying come get your dogs we have kennel cough and need to clear everyone out. (Now I will have to take off a day to go to the vet to have my boys checked out from this terrible experience when I get home).Thank god we had family able to go get them. I will never go here again nor would I recommend this to anyone. I realize not their fault but this has put my dogs at risk and made for a very stressful weekend so much for a nice vacation.

Because I own a pit bull, I was told I needed to schedule a full day of dog daycare for all 3 of my dogs to see how they would do. I did! The full day of daycare my dogs did great. No complaints and no signs of aggression. DUH! So I scheduled them to be kenneled for 4 days. My husband and I dropped off our dogs and could immediately see the uneasiness in the owner. We were flying out in 2 1/2 hours. An hour after we dropped the dogs off the owner called and said she could not keep the dogs because they were "too wild and were trying to eat every dog that walked by their kennel." I have a boxer, pit bull and a Yorkshire terrier. I find this very difficult to believe, plus the full day of daycare showed no signs of anything she was telling me. So now 1 1/2 hours away from our flight departure we turn around and pick the dogs up and take them to another kennel. While waling the dogs out another dog growled, barked and showed his teeth at my dogs, but that dog was not too aggressive because it was not a pit bull. I WILL NEVER TAKE MY DOGS HERE AGAIN!!!!! The owner is rude and not qualified to handle dogs if she has fear of the animal don't work with them!!!!!!

We did the three week board and training package, with Matt as our trainer. Matt listened to our concerns, and tailored the training to address them. Once seeing our dog again after the three weeks of boarding, it was like he was a new dog! We still have a few group classes to go, but every time we have had a training session so far, I can't stop smiling and beaming about how much our dog's behavior has improved...it's amazing!! Also, It is so clear that every employee here knows what they are talking about, and I appreciate and trust every bit of advice they have given us. Mountain State has been such an amazing experience, I would not go anywhere else!

When I asked her head trainer on his thoughts, he responded to just "schedule a private." Don't worry, they're only $200, after the thousands given for the 3, 2, and 2 week long board/trains and refresher. This time last year, my dog did her last refresher and I removed her from MSK9. We went on to work successfully with behaviorists in December for reactivity. How disgusting to set a working level at a 17 on a 6 mo old puppy. The use of the prong and e-collar in this institution is appalling. I'm not against these tools, but the people handling them are not worth your money nor your dogs well-being.
