I loved the many arches and curves of the buildings. The views were outstanding as your height allows you to look out to the British VI. The placards do a good job of also reminding all that the plantation was built off of enslaved people's labor. A distressing part of our history. We saw several deer and even experienced a rain shower in the short time we were there. A must see when on St John.

It is a decent walk from the parking lot to the entrance so there is a drop off right out front for those who can't make the trek. There was no one in the booth and we were the only ones there the whole time. There space is not super big, but was fun for my kids to explore and climb. There are a few areas they ask you not to climb, but for the most part, it was free reign. The signs were informative and we were there about 30 minutes. There were also signs warning us about bees, but we did not see any during our visit.

When we left, we were surprised that we'd spent about an hour and a half in the relatively small space. You'll see artifacts from native peoples, learn about the sea life, watch a video about the lighthouse on Culebrita, and hear about how the US Navy presence affected residents. Miss Sonia informed us of what we were looking at and gave us additional tidbits of knowledge from a local teacher's perspective. Your $1 donation goes to the Fundación de Culebra so they can continue preserving the island and informing others. A great and worthy cause! Visiting this museum will make the rest of your time on this island paradise so much more rewarding.

Mostly lithographs of Picasso's works, there were numerous groups of his works from various periods of his life, including the "Blue Period" in Barcelona and Paris in his younger says, as well as his "Genevieve" period where he paid homage to his "companion" in his work. Truly a delightful exhibit! On the other side of the museum was a San Juan historical exhibit with many articles of silver and religious works of the early years of San Juan ... the museum is worth the time, nice walk there too!

The museum starts either a quick video explaining what you're about to see. Then the doors open and you walk into a well done exhibit hall. Exhibits include vases, weapons, tools and coins found from various shipwrecks. The centerpiece is the Odyssey which is an in underwater robot used to collect artifacts. There is a second floor accessible by a slow elevator or stairs which tells a little bit about some of the pirates in the area. There are a few photo spots, hands on exhibits and a hurricane simulator with wind speeds up to 75 mph. I felt the $20 admission fee was reasonable compared to the $30 for the skylift. The museum is located next to the skylift and about a 15 minute walk from the cruise ships.

As we got down and noticed that wasn't part of the museum. The security guard then informed us that the place would close for lunch and that we should come back within an hour. Mind you he could have informed us in the beginning instead of having us walk the whole 3rd floor but he was busy on his phone. For $5, the original collector of the artifacts or one of several employees will walk you around, giving you the history of each item (took us about 45 minutes). Items include a piece of the Titanic, letters from the king and queen of Spain, old Spanish coins, a ship-in-a-bottle collection, a few objects recovered from shipwrecks, and a variety of other items. It is also a welcome respite from the San Juan heat, with fully contained and highly effective air conditioning!
