Forum Credit Union is one of the worst banking institutions I have dealt with. Their customer service is terrible. I was on the phone with 3 different people for over 20 minutes because they kept routing me wrong and I would have to repeat my information over and over. I was a victim of fraud and they stole over $600 out of my account. I live pay check to pay check and Forum said it will take at least 10 business days to even look at the case and who knows how long after that to get reimbursed. I cannot pay my bills with a $600 loss and they could care less. The customer service people were rude and don't know what they are doing. read more

When withdrawing cash, they require a signed and notarized agreement to release them from all liability. This means their employees can notify accomplices that you are withdrawing cash and the accomplices can rob you in the lot, or follow you and rob you, etc.. I am extremely disappointed with the way this company handles credit reporting and customer service. I had an approved payment extension, which legally changes the due date and should not be reported as late. Despite this, they reported a late payment anyway. When I called to get clarification, the Credit Reporting Specialist Elizabeth Alvarez was unprofessional, raised her voice at me, told me it was "common sense," and then hung up on me. I was simply asking where in my contract it states that they can report a late payment during an approved extension, and instead of answering, she became hostile. I have the entire conversation recorded. This company does not follow proper credit reporting standards, and the treatment I received was completely unacceptable. EVER!! my title to my car is NOT in my possession. they called to verify the address to mail it out. but failed to do so or own their mistake. I paid my car payment ON TIME every month for 7 years. Friendly people, but what a hassle! I had an auto loan with them in 2019 and paid it off and closed the account in 2021. In April 2025 I got a bill for inactivity fee for a savings account with them that I never asked for. The bill was the first and only statement I have ever received for this account. When I called to tell them I wasn't paying for something I didn't ask for they said they couldn't find the account. I reiterated I wanted any accounts in my name closed immediately! Terrible do not do a car loan with this company. I was deployed with no ability to receive calls. I setup automatic payments and the automatic payment stopped for one month. After one attempt to call me they sent the credit bureaus the report that I missed a payment and it dropped my credit score by over 140+. When I called I was told to figure it out and dispute it with the credit bureau. What a welcome home gift after a combat deployment. read more

This place is truly awful. Yes, their loan rates are decent, and no they won't sell your loan to someone else. But they just love to send cryptic "call us immediately" emails at the end of the work day so you are anxious all night about what might be wrong. Having been a Forum Credit Union for over 12 years, I inquired as to a $.76 interest charge and was told by an employee " I get them on my statement all the time, I just pay them." The latest escapade happened when my forum credit card was compromised while in Europe, having called them to place a stop or hold on the credit card, that was successful. Once I returned, we worked to remove the fraudulent charges. They sent me a new card which I never activated since i was in the process of closing all my accounts. They simple transferred the charges ($126) over to the new card adding late fees and interest on charges they taken off of the now closed card. 4 trips to the credit union, not one thing has been accomplished. This week I received notice it was too late to dispute fraudulent charges, then today, notice from a credit report company, they placed a 60 day past due notice to my credit dropping it by 146 points from very good to fair rating. read more

FORUM IS UNORGANIZED! We paid our vehicle loan off never being late once, fufilling our end of the agreement and FORUM dropped the ball by losing the vehicle title sending it to the incorrect address!!! We have had a vehicle loan with Forum since 2017. We paid our vehicle off and was assured that our vehicle title will be sent to our new out of state address. We called a few weeks later as the title never arrived and again Forum confirmed that the title was sent to our new address and asked us to give it more time. Weeks pass and when we call a 3rd time we are told the title was sent to our previous address??!!! In the meantime Forum owed us the balance of our savings account as we closed the account and we receive very quickly a cashiers check to our NEW ADDRESS!?? We have another party waiting to buy our vehicle but the sale has been delayed due to Forum's incompetence. Now we are in the process of obtaining a duplicate title. When speaking with customer service the apologies feel insincere and we were asked the names of who confirmed the new address which we did not note making us feel an implied fault on our part. I cam to Forum after my current bank was being a real pain in the rear to get a home equity loan/line of credit. From the very beginning of the process the associates at Forum were great. At the local branch on College to the underwriters at the headquarters they all made me feel like i was more than just a number. Even when i come into the branch i still feel like am being treated as a valued customer and not just like they are doing me a favor (as most big banks do). i highly recommend using Forum for any of your banking/loan needs. they are local and support the Indy community. read more

I've been with Forum for around ten years but after a poor experience with getting a mortgage refinance on my home I'll be looking elsewhere. I was conditionally approved initially and after over a month in I got an email stating, sorry we can't approve your loan. I've worked to make sure I jumped through all the hoops and had everything in order with a mid 700 beacon score. I couldn't imagine there being any issue with final approval and am very frustrated to be starting the process over when I thought I'd be nearing closing. I've had many good interactions with the tellers over the years and am genuinely sad to leave. read more

FORUM has been the biggest pain to deal with for paying my car loan. Unless you're an actual member banking with FORUM they make you jump through way too many hoops to make payments on your loan. Logging into my account through the website or on the phone app I literally cannot make a payment to my loan unless I bank with FORUM! The only ways I can pay my loan are through a "make a payment" link that's buried in their website or call into their 1-800 line. Not user friendly at all and I've never been comfortable making payments over the phone. Additionally, I've called every month and asked repeatedly about setting up auto pay for my loan and their customer service has generally just directed me back to the "make a payment" option, which is only a one-time payment deal. I do all my major monthly bills by auto pay... usually most banks and credit unions encourage this and make it easy to do! Finally today I got on the phone with someone who sends me a form that supposedly I have to sign and fill out to setup auto pay through an outside bank. First time anyone from their customer service has mentioned this... Who came up with this scheme? Never have I had such a difficult time setting up AUTO PAY... FORUM, I've been trying to give you my money to pay my loan every month on time and on schedule, yet the customer service and information available on your own website has not been helpful and have made this so unnecessarily painful. read more

I have never experienced anything quite as awful as this banks customer service, loyalty, and information. I was defrauded online in May and asked my bank for help to get my money bank. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. After 10 years as a customer they didn't support me through this difficult time. Futhermore after explaining the situation to them they sued me for the balenece that was withdrawn. Instead of fighting it out with this money hungry bank I decided to enter into a payment plan. Afterwards they added on more money for court fees after they agreed to withdraw the case. Now they are refusing to listen to reason. This bank is disgusting, they do not care about there customers and nobody should ever bank with this group. They have devastated me and my family. read more

I'm a fan of credit unions and this one has everything the big banks offer without all the extra fees. The locations are spread out all over tge city which is nice so if I forget to stop at my neighborhood branch, odds are I'll run into another one on the way. The reason I gave 4 stars is because I'm only allowed a limited number of money transfers between my checking and savings. Im a saver and I like to move amounts from checking into savings whenever possible so only being alloted 4 or 5 transfers a months isn't the greatest but thats fine. They have a mobile bamking app as well as a separate photo check deposit app like Chase offers. Every branch I've visited is clean and organized with professional staff who do not undermine you. After about four years of -OK- banking punctuated by confusion about overdraft fees, I'm done. I'm researching for better options. Forum has repeatedly manipulated my deposits and withdrawals in their favor while claiming that their services work in "real time" and mine me for overdraft fees. I expect such behavior from the big banks but not a credit union. On request (and only if you ask), they reverse a limited amount of these manufactured mistakes in a given period of time. If you pitch a fit, you can get them to refund them more often. Class action suites are in progress for many larger institutions. A part of me was a little sad when this Hardees closed. I used to love to come here and get their Ham sandwich on Frisco bread. They never charged me extra for it either - the only store willing to do so. So, it was a strange surprise when the building was gutted and painted and extra carports added on to become a Forum Credit Union branch. At the time, I was a new Forum member and I thought it was a strange choice of location. But now, I love the location away from the super busy Broad Ripple Avenue area where the banks have no parking and are in super cramped buildings. The branch itself is clean in design and smartly laid out. There is a lot of space for loan officers, who seem always busy in this branch. There is an old, old, old coin machine, but it works, a CU Online terminal for Internet banking in real time, and the waiting area has the complimentary one cup coffee machines. The people here are friendly and top notch. The conversations are always positive. But then again, when you go to work in Broad Ripple Village, it makes for great day anyway right? I started banking with Forum Credit Union about a year ago. I've been happy with their customer service and locations around town. The drive-through is always fast and friendly. Members enjoy some nice banking options with programs like 'Common Cents', and the 'Weekly 5 Club', as well as competitive interest rates that come with banking at a credit union. They are very prompt on addressing questionable charges and offer very secure services, however they cap their check-cards to a pretty low spending ceiling. (You have to call to raise your limit, per day). I am really impressed with their online banking system, offering budgeting tools and in-depth charge overviews. Be careful with overdrafts though, they are pretty pricey! Overall, I've been really satisfied being a member at Forum. read more

I recently moved to Arden (north of Broad Ripple across the river). On moving day, I stopped in this branch of Forum Credit Union to have some change made so I could tip the movers. I needed some $10's so I could tip each mover $50. All I had were $20's from the cash machine. There were no other customers when I got there and the 3 tellers were carrying on some private conversation. When they finally acknowledged my presence, I said I would like four $10's for two $20's. The tell asked for my account number and I said I didn't have an account number with them. In a VERY condescending tone she informed me that "we only make change for our account holders". That is ridiculous! I know where I WON'T be setting up an account in my new neighborhood. read more

I have always been treated very well at Forum CU. The staff at my local branch is friendly and adds personal attention you don't see often. I really feel like my business is appreciated. I have never been charged any out of the ordinary fees and have always been able to access my funds when needed. I really don't expect much more out of a bank. Be careful not to call it a bank when in the lobby the staff is sensitive to that term for some reason. I've always been treated fairly, their fees are pricey, but remember the customers own the credit union.
