I miss good Italian food. While living in Mexico City for the past three years, I simply have not found the same quality options as I could in the States, when it comes to (Southern) Italian cuisine. I'm sure that there is someplace good, but I haven't found it yet. And don't tell me that I should be going to Italiani's. It is worse than The Olive Garden.
Anyway, a couple of years ago we actually found a couple of good places in the Oaxacan beach town of Huatulco. Apparenly, a while back some Italians had settled there and set up shop. So, when I read that a true Italian had opened a restaurant in Acapulco, I went to check it out.
In the end, Forza Italia was good, but not great. I have no complaints, but I wasn't impressed and wouldn't particulalrly recommend the place over others. My wife and I both ordered pasta dishes, though she ordered a combo plate which was supposed to be a half order with the option to choose vegetables on the side. I say "supposed to" because her serving was as large as my regular serving, plus she got the sides, plus a salad and garlic bread?! She got a great deal, but I felt taken. Why was I paying more for less?! Oh, well. My penne with vodka sauce was good, but I feel like I've made better at home. Also, the kitchen is open to the customers to view, which I like, but they had the microwave in the front. This was a mistake as we watched them microwave part of our meal...? In the end I felt satisfied, but I wanted Forza to offer more...it didn't. read more
