Time passed, I never got a chance to visit until I decided to smarten up this year and in preparation decided to finally pay the location a visit. Finding the store is perhaps the most difficult part of the experience of shopping there... The place is located in a weird street that starts off Carlaw, just north of the Dundas intersection. There's what seems to be a parking lot in the corner, weird building around it and to make matters worse a bad street sign and it's a dead end street. Once you find the street though it's pretty straightforward. The store in itself is small and has a simple layout. It has a wide open feel of a loft, filled with items all over. The three different people I've met that work there are very friendly and knowledgeable. Just ask questions and they'll give their honest opinion about an item. Plus, shopping is always made easier when you know beforehand what you're looking for. So, with that said, check their website before heading into the store. I got myself some glove liners & lamb wool insoles. Both very affordable and extremely useful. There are LOTS of other things in the store and all very useful for anyone that works or does sports outdoors during winter (or even for those that walk a little further and want to be warm!). I was really impressed with the variety of ladies' Converse Chuck Taylors for about $30. The store was organized but a bit tight between the aisles. The one thing that I was NOT impressed with was the security guard watching me like a hawk. I guess they must have theft in there but it was pretty insulting.

So I was pretty happy when I stumbled upon their Toronto location (and their only location in Canada) while walking home one afternoon. Now, I was a bit of a mess when I came in. I looked like a bit of a mess and was wearing ragged clothes and the 2-3 girls working there didn't want to have anything to do with me. I think they assumed I was borderline homeless and never offered assistance and I secretly think they didn't want me touching their clothes. Went there a few days later all cleaned up and they were much more helpful. Not sure if that's a bad thing or not, but it's not unexpected o Queen Street or any fancy clothing shop I suppose. I wanted to get this gorgeous spring jacket but it was clocking in at over 300 dollars and I had to pay rent. Another day I suppose. I would wear Fred Perry clothes exclusively if I could afford it.

The polos are the best. I've worn many of the other brands (Ralph Lauren, Lacoste, Brooks…read moreBrothers, etc.) and the Fred Perry's fit the best, are the perfect material (not too thin like Lacoste) and hold their shape well and last a long time. I also like that you don't see people everywhere wearing them, they have a bit of exclusivity and I don't think that you can get Fred Perry polos anywhere else in the city (I could be wrong). The colours and unique detailing around the collar and sleeves look awesome as well, and the wreath logo is very subtle. They also have a couple of good sales per year when i can refresh my wardrobe.

The newly renovated store looks fantastic now. Staffs are very nice, polite and helpful. They make me feel like I can always go in and have a look, without being pressured to buy something. I just wish that with strong Canadian dollars, prices should be more competitive to US stores.

Good selection in the sales area and neatly organized. The store itself is also really clean all the time - neat and tidy too. Unlike other store locations, their change rooms here aren't filled with dust bunnies, so I actually feel comfortable to use the change rooms. They also have bathrooms available for their customers given that it's a plaza and bathrooms aren't readily available for non-staff at most places.

This store is well laid out and the staff are always friendly. Reitmans always carries good quality clothes for a great price and it's nice to be able to shop in a Canadian owned business when we seem to be surrounding ourselves with the American conglomerates. I've always purchased both work and casual clothes from Reitmans but at the Morningside location, which is technically closer to me, but this Ajax location has a fantastic selection so it's nice to have the choice.
