Yes, they are pricey (but in my humble American experience there is quite a mark up on *all* clothes in Canada vs the States - like a cheap tank top at H&M will be $5 more automatically in Canada - the exchange rate right now more than makes up for it) but a lot of the items aren't much - if any - cheaper online. I also just love supporting places like this, since there are so few left, and since a lot of "goth" brands run small I prefer to try a lot of the stuff on in person. The girl working and I had a good chat about the history/future of Lip Service in particular and some other stuff. She was super helpful and friendly which was also a change from a lot of alt shops, where the employees seem to spend their time perfecting that "I'm way too fucking cool to talk to you" vibe that makes me eye roll. I wanted *all* the things but settled on two LS dresses, one of which was shiny PVC and fulfilled all of 15 year old me's dreams. Definitely a spot to check out for a pricier but quality "statement piece" or to comb the shoe and clothing sales racks. I've been a long time customer of The Shoe Company. This location in particular I feel deserves feedback for anyone thinking of shopping at ANY Shoe Company retail store. This location has a huge parking lot, just be careful bc plenty don't know how to drive in this area! Public Transit isn't but a few minutes away due to the bus "station" Staff varies there some are very helpful some are too shy. Their prices are reasonable considering the wide range of name brands they have. Sizing can be an issue, so don't contemplate for too long bc once you find a size and shoe you love/like you better grab them! They definitely don't have them on the shelf for too long. Now, here's a particular experience I just had. They didn't have the size I needed so we ordered it as it was available from their website. HOWEVER, the cashier did not mention why the shoe was discounted for ordering it than the price it had on the shelf but a size a couldn't use. We then placed the order. it was delivered to my house for free. Turns out the wrong size came in, apparently a stupid mistake bc I didn't realize nor did she... that the size was a half size too big. When it came in the mail.. we noticed it was too big of a shoe. I went back for an exchange. The exact same shoe. but, different size. They could not honor the price I got originally. and they also said its from the time I paid not when the shoe arrived.. so it was "too far back" do them to honor the sale price. I had to dish out an extra 50$. The weird thing is the cashier insisted to have the supervisors look at why the price from the new size IN STORE was a higher price... they went back and forth in discussion and literally said they will not honor the price I paid. Sigh... had I know all these little rules/ policies I would have paid closer attention to the order and not trust what the cashier was doing.

I was given a blank stare when I spoke to the lady working there. She continued to watch her movie while I looked around and not once offered to help or enquire what I was looking for. I was given the number (and only the phone number) of a Mississauga location that MIGHT have it but because they had already closed, I'd have to call the next day. I've worked retail for years but never in my career had I ever implied that a customer hunt down an item they were looking for. I always made it a priority to hunt down what the customer was looking for and ordered it in. Not only it builds a bond with the customer but it also generates $$ for MY store. I was REALLY dissatisfied where I am being sent across the GTA to get the only pair of boots in the province that I'm looking for and I'll get them. Just not with The Shoe Company. Dropped in on a cold winters night approx. 20 minutes before they closed. Male associate on the floor asked if we needed assistance with anything and we told him "boots'...he pointed us in the right direction and explained that as it was late in the season, supply was low. We found a pair that had been marked down 70%. Major score ! Cashier was very friendly and explained their rewards program. We were in and out of the store in less than 15 minutes....it would have been faster had it not been for the customer in front of us who decided, while her order was already wrung in, that she wanted to pick up something else and went back into the store.
