Update January 14. After Richard refused to compensate me, I filed an arbitration request with the San Mateo County Bar Association requesting a ~75% refund of the upfront money I spent. I documented in details why his actions constituted an unjustified breach of contract and listed a pattern of unprofessional behavior. Richard chose to avoid the arbitration process altogether and wrote me a check to settle for the full amount I was seeking. This put this unfortunate experience to an end. read more

Working with Mr. Salles was a bitter disappointment. I filed a provisional patent with him in 2018. There was no search of previous art and the process was fraught with frustrations on my part due to Mr. Salles habit of disappearing when you most need his assistance. However, the provisional patent was eventually filed, and I felt my invention was safe. Problems began a year later when I reconnected with Mr. Salles to finalize the application for the nonprovisional patent. Upon resuming the process this year, Mr. Salles provided me with a contract for 4 times the cost of the previously contracted non-provisional application. I found my original contract signed in Jan 2018 to Mr. Salles and presented it to him. He agreed in principal but immediately manufactured a series of fictitious legal issues and unilaterally, and without cause, declared the original contract void. (There was no provision in the original for this action!) Now, I'm left without the ability to safeguard my intellectual property and wasted the $4,800 originally paid to Mr. Salles for the provisional patent. In short, a total loss. I would never recommend working with Mr. Salles. At a personal level, he is erratic, unreliable and personifies the worst characteristics of the law profession. I strongly recommend avoiding his services. read more
