I was looking for a place for my daughter to get the energy out and, with good reviews, headed toward Riverwalk Park. It just so happened to be their Christmas market and fair - with face painting, vendors, special treats and games. My little one could have cared less about the aforementioned happenings. She cares about playgrounds and this park had one of the best we've seen. It was crawling with kids, so even better for entertainment! She played for hours. There was plenty of space, nooks and crannies for kids to run and do their own thing. The equipment all looked in good repair and the park was very clean. Everything is surrounded by mature trees so the playground was shaded during our visit. As lunch approached, we walked over to the water for some calm & relaxation. There are a couple of boat ramps, though I believe I was there at low-tide as one looked inaccessible. There were also a couple of swings to sit and look out over the water. I noted a walking trail as we were leaving and would certainly return to see the rest of the park. I was very impressed with my first visit here.

I'd heard about the Northside Splash Pad and was excited to check it out, but the first two times we swung by during "open" hours, it actually wasn't open. I guess it was undergoing some repairs, but I never saw any info about that or info about when it finally opened. We've gone three times in the past few weeks and it's perfect for my little guy. Small, contained (if we close the gate), benches and tables to sit at, and enough water fixtures to be fun without being too much for a toddler. Some of them could use some upkeep, but it works well for us. Thrilled to have this other option for a splash pad during this hot summer!

We hoped to see gators but missed them all. Tons of turtles though. The walking trail is 5 miles around the lake and easy with shaded spots, and various lookout locations with benches to rest or simple zen out. I wish I lived closer so I could walk this look weekly!

This park is known for vagrants and we did see one person approach our car and try the doors. They scurried away quickly when they noticed we saw them. This could be because we have out of state plates but locals say this park is known for crime.

The events are heavily discounted for members, which we love. The employees are great and there's not many people there during the weekday in the winter, anyway. This is a smaller museum, so it's great for our almost 4 year old. There's a little outdoor area with a few things. We love the school bus. Fun place to visit when the weather isn't great.

The city lists it as 401 S. 8th Street, but the park borders S. 10th, Ann and S. 8th Streets. Quick Summary - It's a city park - One Pavilion - Baseball field that also used as a soccer field - There is a swimming pool - Several tennis courts that are also used for pickle ball - One playground area for kids - Very large open field Additional information The park is in an up and coming area. It's safe to visit but I would probably not hang out after dark. Dogs are allowed but not in the tennis courts or ball fields. No doggy poop bag stations so bring your own bag. The large field has lots of ant mounds so keep that in mind while you are walking across it. Not sure if the city tries to control the ants or not. They will bite your ankles if you let them. Every now and then a few jack wagons will ride their dirt bikes and 4 wheelers through the park, so watch out for that. You also get a lot of litter along the sidewalk on Ann Street from pedestrians and passing cares. Some folks just give a crap.
