Adj: Fancy and Fun at Fountain Park So while on a trip to AZ, we came to this park kind of on a whim because we were staying in Fountain Hills. It was close to the hotel we stayed at and I read some great things about this park and my kids loved playgrounds, so off we go. It's been redone so it did not always look so fancy schmancy, but let me tell you this town and neighborhood is quite well to do so I think the funding is not lacking. The park is right next to the man-made lake which is made famous because of the fountain that goes off multiple times every day! But back to the park, the playground really is fun. There's things to climb, slide down, run onto, jump up and down on, and even a zip-line like thing that was kind of scary for me (yes, I'm a scaredy cat). My kids had a great time on that thing and my son in particular went crazy on it going back and forth multiple times. Overall, this is a great park, the playground alone is worth a visit, but then there's covered seating area not far from the playground, and right next to that there's a musical section where you can hit on different metallic objects to make music! My kids really had fun w/those things. There are benches for parents to chill after exertions on the play structure. The view of the lake is nice from anywhere at the park too. Lovely and enjoyable. Fountain Park is a clean and enjoyable park for families. There are amenities such as a walking trail, disc golf, picnic areas and a playground. It seems to be most known for its center piece, the fountain. The area appears to be very safe and even the bathrooms were reasonably clean and had no graffiti. 2.14.26 - Concours In The Hills Car Show I attended this annual event for the first time this year. Car show started at 11am and ended at 3pm. I wanted to be there right at 10am because I know events like these can get pretty busy, and I was right. We didn't get there til about 11ish. My friends lagged plus there was a bit of traffic right at the exit. The plaza closest to the park was completely packed full. People were making their own parking spots in there. You just have to park at the first spot you can find and walk to the park. There are many cars of all makes and models to see. I like that they categorized them and put all the same types together. Cars filled the grass all around the entire park. There are plenty of drink/food stands and food trucks as well if you get thirsty or hungry out there. We walked the entire park but I think we may have missed a few things. I saw in another review that there is a spot with musical instruments somewhere at the park! I didn't see that but would have loved it. The day started off nice but it got warm pretty quick that day. Free water bottles were available at the Phoenix Children's booths. The event was cool to see and different. It seems pretty organized. I personally don't like walking on grass though, especially where dogs are allowed. I came here on St. Patrick's Day to see the fountain turn green. The weather was beautiful and they had live music going on. At noon they blow the horn and the fountain starts up. The water takes a bit to turn green, but it's so pretty once it does. There is lots of room for kids to play in the grass and also several playgrounds. There are several restaurants around and parking is relatively easy to find. Check out Art on the Avenue nearby on the weekends if you love shopping for arts and crafts. The town of Fountain Hills is named after its famous 560-foot fountain. The Fountain first went into operation in 1971 and goes off every one hour for 15 minutes between 9:00 am-9:00 pm. Fountain Park was built around the fountain and has several amenities. There is an amphitheater, splash pads, playgrounds, the surrounding lake, walking trails and restrooms. It is a nice place to relax and enjoy while in Fountain Hills. You can see the fountain all the way from the 87 as you are driving back from Payson. read more

We've ventured out here to take the grandkids to the park and to visit my sister for the morning. The park is huge and I know it is the cornerstone of fountain Hills. We were lucky to be able to see the fountain go off twice! The kids playground is quite good although there is one particular Device that my granddaughter was attached to that I thought could be quite dangerous - grandpa was there to help make sure she didn't crack her head open on it. It's like a cantilever that you can 'ride' across but if you're the wrong height- it's going to hit you in the face. We loved the xylophone park. Way cool. I do wish there were more benches around the bigger play area. The park is gorgeous and huge and I imagine if we lived in the area, we'd be here all the time! read more

One of our favorite restaurants is nearby, so after breakfast we wanted to enjoy our mornings at the park. We entered through the southside where the splash pad and playgrounds were located. There was a lot of parking, a restroom, water stations, and even dog water bowls! My family walked around a little before settling down to enjoy the people watching and fountain. My little one and Havanese loved the space and I enjoyed how clean everything was! I was also impressed with the musical instrument playground! You don't see that often, and it really made the experience here enjoyable. I highly recommend if you haven't visited yet! read more

I spent a weekend near Fountain Hills and had some time to spare between events so I decided to check out Fountain Park. Parking was convenient and plentiful. The park was bustling with people enjoying the warm February day. There are various play areas, a Veteran's Memorial, a musical park, and more to explore. The park was clean and well-maintained. I walked around and passed the lake on my way to a coffee shop. After getting my coffee, I noticed the fountain in action so I started walking towards it to get a better view. The fountain operates on the hour every hour from 9 am to 9 pm and reaches an impressive height of 330 feet. On special occasions, the fountain can reach 560 feet! It's quite fascinating to watch. 5 years ago I moved from Tempe (20+ years) to FH, to be closer to the McDowell Regional preserve/desert, and farther away from the city. Since then, one of my favorite daily escapes is walking/running around the large Fountain Lake Park (often with my dogs, along with enjoying the local large 3+ acre dog park just a few blocks away). Lots of arts, culinary & music events every week/month/year also make the Fountain Park a place to frequent. The park offers a variety of activities to enjoy. It includes designated areas for toddlers, a music section, and a play structure for older children. Unfortunately, there are no swings, but there is an interesting pendulum-like contraption that you can step on to move to another section of the playground for older kids. read more

This a great park with a one of a kind, giant fountain that is like a manmade version of the Yellowstone geiser. The park is very large with gorgeous sculptures and home to beautiful birds. The fountain looks even cooler at night rising to 330 feet and over 500 feet on special occasions. There's plenty of room and picnic tables around the park. This would have been a 5 star but have to knock it down a star due to the rude, unprofessional conduct of park manager Joe Beauvais. I was preparing for a hike fixing my sleeping bag and this clown accused me of sleeping at the park and threatened me not to sleep at "his" park(or apparently he'd have me arrested by Sheriffs). I was shocked at this character's rudeness and told him I was preparing for a long hike in the Tonto forest and was not going to sleep at the park overnight. I also told him he was out of line for this false accusation intended to slander and demean a total stranger(and law abiding taxpayer)in public. Instead of manning up and apologizing he continued to accuse me of planning to sleep in "his" park! I explained again to the Chicagoland, boomer dumb dumb(Valencia Community College grad lol). I was fixing my sleeping bag for a hike. I also educated this ignorant clownshow that technically any US citizen can legally sleep in any public park as long as it's not an over 24hr encampment. This is the LAW due to the Federal Appeals Court 9th circuit(covers Arizona) decision in Martin vs. Boise and Jones vs. Los Angeles that it's an 8th Amendment violation(against cruel and unusual punishment)to stop/fine/arrest someone for sleeping in a public area, including any public park. He continued to argue the point with me continuing to slander me that I planned to sleep there. I continued to inform the rude dummy bully that he's breaking the federal law. I ran a food Bank for 2 years serving homeless in San Diego and know the laws well. I suggest our government employees learn their jobs, the laws and basic human kindness. Times are tough for a lot of people(that are not drug addicts/"bums") and a professional approach(if you're one of our government employees)is be respectful offering a carrot of a free meal or motel voucher etc.(with some of the billions $ wasted by govt.)and say "here's a gift from the town of Fountain Hills." We appreciate no sleeping in the park(cause it bothers rich, entitled karen/darren boomers playing frisbee golf)but we can't stop you that would be illegal. Most people and homeless would understand and sleep elsewhere. Thus the town of Fountain Hills wishful "rulers" would obey the law, our hardfought freedoms(for all Americans, not just the entitled, trust fund rich, and it's a public park not a private country club). There's nice statues of our Founding Fathers(Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Roosevelt) at the park and they'd be turning over in their graves if they knew how the employees are treating people. I also would appreciate the town managers not remove these statues because they "offend"rich, PC Karens or Darrens like has happened in major US cities. read more

So you'll be safe. And it's clean but above that there's not much to it. The AC in our room didn't work so they moved us. That was nice they addressed it promptly. Phone in room didn't work. TV didn't work well. No pen or paper. Cart for luggage didn't work. A bit of a frustrating experience in the heat and I expected more from a BW but we survived. Apparently this place has changed owners several times. The view of the fountain is nice and it's walking distance of a shopping center with places to eat and a park for the kids. read more

(6/20/20) The first time we went to Fountain Park was two months ago; we arrived at 7 A.M. to beat the hot weather, walk around the park, and conclude our visit with an 8 A.M. fountain extravaganza. Lo and behold, as a simple internet search would have revealed, the fountain does not go off until 9 A.M.! Defeated and unwilling to wait an extra hour, we returned to Tempe, and we swore to one day return to see the fountain show. And so it happened. On a highly-anticipated Saturday morning, we returned to Fountain Hills, had some breakfast, and got to Fountain Park at 8:55 A.M. sharp. We found a lovely, shady spot under the trees with a clear view of the reclaimed reservoir. Then, in the distance, whirred the spouts as water gracefully ascended -- 100 feet, 200 feet -- and this is where my perception of height rather tapers off. I have no idea if the fountain reached its standard, two-jet 300 feet, or its maximum triumph of 560. Perhaps a more seasoned observer can judge based on the photos! We are Arizonans. Arizona boasts natural beauty -- Four Peaks, the Grand Canyon, Antelope Canyon, Camelback -- we know this. Manmade wonders, on the other hand, take some searching. The Fountain Hills fountain is the same spectacle for 15 minutes between the hours of 9 A.M. and 9 P.M. What is so remarkable about it, I cannot explain. Nor can I explain the simple joy I felt watching the water go up, or catching several marvelous views of the fountain on our return drive home. Whatever the feeling was, it was worth the visit, and I know we will return again soon. For a clean walking path, natural beauty around, and an hourly spectacle on the lake, do swing by Fountain Park. I recommend it. 'Til next time! read more

The park itself is beautiful during the day and enjoyable for a walk, run, bike ride, or picnic so as a park it's terrific. 5/5 However, we have also gone at night for their Oktoberfest and we were very underwhelmed, it seems the only authentic thing about it was the actual band from Germany. Having lived in Germany, the food was not what we anticipated. These were all things you could buy from Safeway, generic dogs and strudel. The cheese for the pretzels was regular nacho cheese. It should have been the traditional Bavarian Beer Cheese. We obviously expected too much from the event. With how large the park is you'd think they'd spread the event out, but it was not the case, everything was squeezed together making the event seem very small. In addition, they did not supply nearly enough chairs for the event. I've been to the Oktoberfest in Tempe, and now this one, if you know of a better one in the valley please let me know. read more

This literally has to be the most perfect park everrrrr!!!! 1. It's absolutely gorgeous and has the world famous Fountain!!! 2. Great fir exercising and even has the miles around marked. 3. This is a beautiful well maintained park and very impressive for a city of 25,000 people. The citizens of Fountain Hills should be very proud to have a park of this caliber with a playground and splash pad for children of all ages. I have nothing bad to say about this park. We've been coming here for a long time and it's a great spot to take family and friends who are visiting. The fountain is obviously the main attraction; it goes off every hour and lasts for 15 minutes. One time we came and it was windy so it didn't go off so there are exceptions. I love the (fairly) new addition of the music playground; it's enjoyable for all ages. I've been here when there are festivals and it's a great venue for it. It's lovely to come here and take a stroll around the lake and get some fresh air and exercise. There are coffee and ice cream places within walking distances which make for good treats. People are usually friendly here and there's something for everyone. read more

First time ever coming to that fountain in Fountain Hills go to Brio pretty all the time but never stopped it's actually a really nice park I think that down goes off once every hour like a great place to go and people watch and the taste of ducks new really cool looking I think they're all the same breed the black and white has a few restaurants around it I might have to check out one day definite fun place to go have a picnic next I'm in the area I'll definitely stop again read more

Such a beautiful hike. Not sure the exact distance but it took me about thirty minutes to complete the lake view trail. Signs are throughout and trail is well marked. Brings you through the desert and among homes. There are wonderful mountain and fountain park views throughout the entire walk/trail. Pretty neat to plan coordinating by the top of the hour when the fountain is going off. Moderately busy trail; everyone very friendly, many walking dogs. Not steep incline but definitely increase in elevation which is great for views! There are two trailheads which both end at different parts of the park; fairly short walk back to the car. Fountain Hills has the world's fourth tallest fountain. When built in 1970, it was the world's tallest fountain and held that record for over a decade. I love coming to this park. I normally come late at night or early in the morning to run. Pathway is illuminated, make it easy to run in the dark. There are always runners here, I always felt safe running here alone. It's 1.22 miles around the fountain, not much ups or downs, easy to go around and around. They offer splash park, disc golf, playgrounds, clean restrooms, ideals for any ages to enjoy this beautiful park. The fountain turns green on the St Patrick's Day. The area is also a flight path for landing at the SkyHarbor Airport. I like to sit on the right side on the plane to watch the fountain park from the airplane window. One of things I love to do, is taking Sunday drives through Fountain Hills and stopping at the Fountain. Since moving to the Valley, I've found there's something relaxing about doing this. The streets are almost always empty and when you do encounter someone they are always deferring and polite. My boyfriend took me here on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon since I had never been in all the ten years I've lived in AZ! They shoot off the fountain for 15 minutes of every hour which is just spectacular to watch. It's a wide spread out park where people were walking their dogs, sitting on benches, playing frisbee, feeding the ducks to having picnics under trees. Every person we walked by smiled and said hello. An older gentleman with his dog Toby asked to take our photo with the fountain in the background which I thought was nice of him. It's just a very friendly community of people which only leaves you with a content warm heart on a nice warm day with my man.
