My parents have an elderly schnauzer that needs assistance on stairs. If she cannot carry a small dog, then caring for dogs is not the right occupation for her. You should consider the safety of your pet when choosing this business, should anything happen to them while in her care, especially if she cannot handle lifting a small animal. This has ruined many of our plans as my parents can no longer come out and spend the whole week with us. They now have no one nearby to care for their dogs. It has added a great deal to the stress to the wedding.

Back story, I have a 9yr old Lab who sometimes can get overwhelmed by being put into a kennel. He also has infrequent seizures. Gina (the owner) was amazing about answering all of my questions that I constantly asked thru email leading up to the weekend trip to Newport. Saturday came and we grabbed Duke and headed to drop him off at daycare. the way it's set up is awesome and you're greeted by the dogs. when we went inside to sign paperwork, it didn't even feel like we were leaving him at a daycare. Rather it was more like dropping him off at an old friends house. When came back to pick him up, we were informed that the daughter took the dogs in the forest to hike and play. WOW. when they got back, it was obvious that Duke had a blast. THE ABSOLUTE BEST DOGGIE DAYCARE I have ever been to. as we were driving away I couldn't help but be sad, wishing that this place was in Portland so we could take him here more often. Oh my goodness, where should I start? My cat has a thyroid…read moretumor. If she doesn't take medication, she gets sick, throws up, won't eat and lose loses a lot of weight. And so many occasions, I used their provider Koala pharmacy for a compound prescription for her thyroid medication. It cost a ton of money, but my cat is worth it. On several occasions, I had to be the go-between Koala pharmacy and Newport Vet to get them to even approve the prescription so that Koala could fill it. It seemed like they didn't really have a grip on how Koala. Vet Called the vet for more medicine they declined because they wanted labs. I asked for a grace period as I was running short on cash and I was refused and told to come in anyway and get the labs done. No empathy! I even asked to speak with the doctor on the phone and he refused unless I made appointment for $200 office visit. My appointment was today at 1:30 despite my financial situation. I showed up and they did not take blood! And they were out of thyroid test! I spoke to the office manager again. Told her the backstory, which she already knew because she was the original person I spoke to, and she told me I could not return and that they would not give my cat the medication she needs to stay alive. After leaving, I called requested to speak with the manager again it and was refused. I was told I was fired as a patient and that I need to go find another doctor. I admit, I wasn't pleasant and I wasn't happy with them and her customer service response was to fire me rather than try and show a little bit of compassion and understanding for the situation. I can't believe Vet's office would employ someone who absolutely lacks compassion. All they care about is the big buck. I explained my cat needs medication so she doesn't get sick in the meantime, and they refused to fill it. No compassion, no empathy no care for the human taking care of the pet. Although the office staff is quite nice with the exception of the office manager, it doesn't make up for a really crappy office practices. And cowardly doctors. zero stars, don't go, run from here.
