You aren't staying at the Four Points by Sheraton Venice Mestre because you're blowing thousands of dollars a night to be in the heart of Venice. You're staying at the Four Points by Sheraton Venice Mestre because you want to be a train ride away from Venice, and trying to save a few bucks. At minimum, you want the property to allow you to shower comfortably, and sleep well. Not very high expectations. Yet somehow, this hotel managed to fail. Let me explain.
Pros:
+ Catch a bus (25 minutes) or train (20 minutes) into Venice Santa Lucia. It's about $2.50 one way travel. Note that these routes are not always consistent. Sometimes (especially on weekends), there are 90 minute gaps between when trains run.
Cons:
- The showers don't work. As in there was no water that came out. We called the front desk, who said they would send up someone to fix it. We waited 1.5 hours, and when no one came, we called again. We were told that someone was coming (no apology provided). We waited another 1 hour, and no one came. At this point, we were exhausted and just went to bed feeling gross. The next morning, we called again. By the time we checked out a few hours later, no one had come. When I mentioned it to the front desk, no apologies were given. They just said "oh."
- The bed was like sleeping on a marshmellow. If you like back pain, and sagging mattresses, this is the place for you.
All things considered, the money savings for staying here was not worth the crappy service and problems with the rooms. read more
