I wasn't sure what the vents all around my fireplace were about, the fireplace inspection before I bought the house didn't mention them (or that they were part of the fan system that was broken), and the 2nd guy that came out to fix part of the bricks didn't know what they were about. But when I called Southwest Sweepers the woman who got back to me easily told me that they were vents that helped circulate the warm fireplace air into the house, and Curtis was able to find a new fan to replace my broken one, and install the light switch to turn it on & off. He was hired to clean/inspect chimney, clean dryer vent, replace and paint firebox panels, replace…read morelog lighter, and connect it to the gas valve. I called multiple fireplace, chimney, and plumbing companies in this process. For one, most of them took forever to reply (as in weeks). Several wanted to charge me $250-$300 just to come by and look at the problem and give their opinion. Finco responded in a timely manner and gave me a fair, reasonable price to do the work. Instead of regular panels, Shane made sure I had extra-thick ones and the proper (safe) paint. He did a beautiful job here. When connecting the log lighter to the gas valve, he encountered problems and none that he created. He could tell the gas valve wasn't sitting securely because the gas valve knob was turning when it shouldn't have been. I thought that was very astute. Trying to connect the log lighter to the gas valve was impossible from the outside going in. I just had new FP tile put in, and to remove the firebox was going to be very expensive because the tile was grouted to it, thus requiring tile rework. Shane assured me that he could get to the gas valve by going through a closet behind the FP. And this is how he solved the problem. Turns out that the gas valve threads were stripped, it was not supported properly, and it wasn't even connected properly. He replaced the gas valve and properly connected it. He also found drywall resting up against the firebox, which is very dangerous. He moved it. This all required just a small cut-out (~7" x 7"), which he nicely repaired thereafter. All material was quality. All work was quality. I never thought Shane was trying to feed me a line or wring me dry for money. He was always polite, never made excuses, and cleaned up nicely after his work. Honestly, I feel blessed to have found Finco. I will definitely use them again and highly recommend them.

You advised her that you did not purchase it from us and stated that we should (NOT WHAT I SAID) be able to help you because we are a fireplace company. She stated that we don't typically provide any (TECHNICAL) support for fireplaces we didn't install. We do this for several reasons, including liability and the fact that we are a for profit company. She said she'd see what she could find out and transferred the call to me (the President). I answered the line and asked what I could do to help you. After three (I was only asked ONCE and told them I had already given the model# to the other person) attempts to get your model number to assist, I felt it best to end the call. At every turn you did not want to provide me with the information to help you but instead, you wanted to tell me about how you felt we were not taking care of you. Every request (ONLY ONE REQUEST WAS MADE) was met with a disgruntled comment (LIE, LIE, LIE) and wasn't productive. The staff was so nice and so helpful. They quoted me a price on a specific set of logs, and then when those turned out to not be in stock, they extended that price to me. They didn't have to do that, and I wouldn't have even thought to ask, but they offered to honor the other price, even though it was several hundred dollars difference. Our logs have completely changed our enjoyment and use of our fireplace. Before, it was truly just wasteful to run our fireplace, as all it did was create ambience. Now, you can feel the heat coming from these logs within moments of lighting them. The whole room gets warm immediately, and it has just made all the difference in our living room. I will soon replace the logs for the other fireplace as well, and wouldn't dream of using anyone but Rick's.
