So why only one star? I am a disabled person who has a service dog to help me. As soon as we walked in the door, the woman who owns the shop fought her way through the crowd to get to me and demanded to see my dog's registration papers to prove she was a service dog. Oh, boy... I politely explained to her that registration is not a thing for service dogs and shared with her the 2 legal questions that businesses are authorized to ask dog handlers, and volunteered my responses. She insisted that she knows better and that there is a registry for service dogs and she will need to see Piper's registration to allow us to remain in her store. She even went so far as to tell me she'll call the police and have them tell me there is a registry for service dogs. I let her know that's not necessary I'll find and correct the police if they're incorrectly stating ADA requirements. (this happens more often than you might imagine.) I confirmed with her the location of the police in WSM and went to find one. I did get her to accept my ADA card though, so that's progress. After the lady harassed me about Piper, I didn't have much of an appetite for her wares. We left feeling trampled on and violated. Note: I did seek out the officer. Not only did the officer understand ADA requirements, he offered to go with me to correct the woman. I told him that I would never patronize her store now so I'm not interested in accompanying him, but I appreciate his effort to prevent her from discriminating against the next dog handler that enters the premises. He chased me down in a crowded market later to tell me that he'd had a conversation with the woman and she now understands ADA law. Would I recommend? not if you're disabled Would I return? not on your life Service Dog Grade: F. Denied access and required police correction. I have never filed a complaint re: ADA before today:(

My wife's family has been buying apples here for over 50 years, this is a Chesterland institution. When we visit northern Ohio, we always make a point to stop at Patterson's Fruit Farm. I also had to check it out. AMBIANCE: Cabin vibes with toasty fireplace and chandelier you'd find at a cabin in the wild. One room is the marketplace. Another room is evaporation room for maple syrup production. It wasn't actively working during my visit and I'd love to see its operation. INVENTORY: The sugar house has it all - maple candy, maple syrup (also in bulk), skin care, BBQ sauce, candles, maple cream candy, pancake mix, popcorn, apple butter, coffee, cotton candy, and more. They produce maple syrup every spring, but operate as a shop all year round. They also sell merchandise from local makers. They'll also ship maple products anywhere to you! The inventory was very impressive. The prices seemed pretty reasonable for locally produced maple syrup. SERVICE: The service was very friendly. All customers were immediately served and the line moved very quickly. In full transparency, I was exhausted by the time I walked over to the Burton Log Cabin. My tote was full of apple butter and foods from the Apple Butter Fest. I wasn't in the mood to carry more stuff. I decided to visit during maple season to get their products and check out all the activities! I always find places to visit during maple season and will add this gem to my itinerary.

They showed us the local maple syrups for sale, the sweet eats, pancake mixes, and lots of Ohio made goodies. A man in the syrup production answered questions. I learned that the three-gallon buckets seen on the maple trees can be full of sap in only one night. Sap collecting all depends on the weather. Syrup making has been in production since February. By the end of March sap tapping is wrapping up. Unfortunately, all the pancake breakfasts are cancelled. For all ages.

The fry pies are hand held glazed pies and come in many flavors. Our favorites include lemon and strawberry cream cheese. You can get fry pies at several Amish shops but these have the most filling and best all over flavor that I have found. You can also get plates of molasses cookies here that melt in your mouth. My daughter can eat them faster than I can turn around. Me, I love the whoopie pies. We still had…read moregift cards for Great Harvest and decided on our way back from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to stop at their Mentor, Ohio store. What a great visit that was! It started with a nice welcome at the moment we entered and were offered a taster right away. Generous tasters, not just a little piece of bread, but a whole slice! I tried the Cheddar Garlic and I loved it. Real garlicky with big pieces of cheddar in it. Needless to say we left with a variety of different breads: cinnamon chip, challah (unfortunately they had not sweet ones with raisins) and the garlic cheddar.
