We arrived at their BEAUTIFUL (800 acres!) property yesterday for our Hunt. They knew we had zero experience so they gave us our guns and told us everything we needed to know and then took us to our stand. While in the stand my Son said "This is my best birthday gift ever!" , that made everything so worrh it! He shot his first hog right at sunrise. Our guild came out to get the hog and asked if we would be interesting in trying the dog Hunt, after a quick conversation we took him up on that. Best decision ever! It was amazing to watch the dogs work and the whole process! Within minutes of using the dogs my son shot his 2nd hog, a 250 lb BEAST! Shortly after that I shot mine, another HUGE hog. Everything about our experience was amazing from start to finish. Our guide was amazing, very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient with us rookie hunters. We felt like we knew him for years! Thank you West Shore Outfitters for an amazing day in the woods, and the absolutely perfect birthday for my son!

Matt was awesome and answered all of our questions and provided a great 2 days. He set up a full day fishing with an awesome guide, we caught 11 Redfish that were all in the 48" category. Matt/Trevor, Thank you for the most fun with our clothes on!!

(Oops, this slipped through the cracks and was never published last year, sorry)…read moreThis place is so phenominal the review could've been two pages long. In a nutshell, we trusted The Company when they gave us a relaxing weekend to ourselves in a state wildlife reserve. It was a fact finding mission to get better tabs on people's personal hobbies. Whatever. I expected as much. Nobody minded kicking up a few dollars donation to get in. I'm starting a yearly donation. I absolutely love this place. My hosts, Mark D and his son Lawrence, are often here hunting. Deer, feral hog and especially turkey. I was never a great hunter; more of a tag-a-long that soaked up nature. Since I suck at photography, I'm more or less a liability-not an asset. There's a legend that a younger Mark D was an avid gator hunter down around the Everglades in the 1970's. As that may have been illegal, I can neither confirm nor deny that. I do enjoy fishing and once properly licensed and properly permitted, we spent time on the St. John's river and a couple of inland creeks. On our second morning we fished a pond called "Peek a Boo pond"! Hand on the good book, I'm telling it true! We also brought the binoculars and saw a few gallinules, egrets, limpkins and some other birds a wading that I didn't recognize. Very surreal for us. After building a campsite, we went for a short hike, dinner and tried to enjoy some cold drinks and congregate. Nobody could stay awake! lol. The whole weekend was blissful and pressure free. If allowed to, I could easily live here!

Taylor Creek Road is located off of East Colonial Drive (State Road 50) and William Beardall Tosohatchee Wildlife Management Area is, at least according to the sign, three miles down Taylor Creek Road. William Beardall Tosohatchee Wildlife Management Area is a nice place to escape the day to day grind and hustle and bustle of living in the asphalt and steel of a modern city and get back to nature.
