Opened 8:00 - 8:00 seven days a week, this is where you come for excellent hiking & wildlife observation. You'll also see lots of fishing & boating. There is; however, no water access from the North end, which is where you'll find the equestrian campsites. Afraid to lose my phone on the trails or in the water, the pictures are from the web; I did not take them, but wish I had. You've got to visit this gorgeous park. It's a very special state park. This is a very good trail; but wait, there's two trails…read more There's a separate mountain bike trail, and then there's the cement paved trail. We did both on our visit but you have to have a bike that can withstand sand cause if you don't you'll have to get off and push your bike like I had to on several parts of the paths. However; it was not in vain because we got to see deer that are apparently not afraid of people and come up real close to you. It seems like they're use to having people feed them. Then there's the cement trail which takes you through the beautiful neighborhoods and you see trees and pass by farms with horses and kinds of farm animals. It's very nice and relaxing. The parking area for this trail is chock-full-o goodies! Restrooms, an area for you to even rinse off your bike, and to put air in it.

Checked this mountain bike trail out for the first time this weekend and enjoyed it (writing this…read moreas a beginner MTB rider, btw). It is built and maintained by SORBA and according to their website is about 2.5 miles long. Finding the trail head and parking lot was a breeze. Bathrooms directly adjacent to the trail head. This trail is about 60% open, scrub land with somewhat wide trails suitable for a beginner. The open spaces duck occasionally for short jaunts through treed single track while staying mostly flat. I did the main loop and decided to try out the blue trail that heads south for about .4 miles... This portion was cut through saw palmettos and featured lots and lots of jarring root knots. It made for a not too fun ride! I got to the end of this short piece and decided to take the fire road back to the main loop. I'd had enough, lol. I saw on the map that there was more trail to be had but I'll check it out another time. The trail is mostly well marked but I did get turned around one time. No big deal since I was the only one out there this morning. I did come across TONS of deer. It seemed like every time I turned a corner deer were jumping out of the way. After I realized what they were it was very cool to have them out there with me. Overall a scenic, if mostly flat, ride on a well-maintained trail. I'll be back!

And from the staff to the dock hands, to the quality of the vessel and cleanliness of the shop: 10/10. A guide handed us a laminated map (nice touch) and told us where to head for manatee sightings. And even pointed us to a cove that homes a lot of turtles and alligators. We saw it all! They have volunteers overseeing the 3 sisters springs, to help monitor the safety of the manatees (and scold ignorant people lol). Great time! If you're unsure, let me assure you.. just book.

Because of the upcoming & then arrival of ice/snow storm we extended our stay. The ladies in the office could not have been any nicer. Even though almost all the premium sites were reserved they managed to keep us in the same site! The park has a lot of snow birds that are here from 2-4 months. Everyone we met were very friendly. Did not use the bathrooms or laundry room. I did go in the laundry room & it was terrific. I'm sure over the summer it gets even busier with the spring, falls and water slide.

We also have family friends who currently reside there and they enjoy it immensely. I would advise arriving early, we usually are there as soon as it opens. There's been a few changes in the day pass prices over the years we have been going so call them for the latest rates. There is a dj on the weekends and the music adds a nice ambiance. They have some places available where you can purchase food but we usually bring our own. You can grill, which we have done, but there have also been times when we take the easier route and bring our own pub subs and snacks. The parking situation has also varied greatly on our visits so that's another time you may want to call ahead for details. All in all it's a nice place and a great outing with family and/or friends.

Three of us had a great kayaking experience with Discovery Kayak & SUP at Silver Springs State Park…read morethis past weekend. Ryan Toler, owner and tour guide, supplied all the necessary equipment. He also verified who was experienced and who needed instructions before setting out. Ryan grew up in the area, so he knows the springs and river like the back of his hand. He shared the history of the area from pre-Spanish times to the present. He even calls the various reptiles, turtles and birds by name. We saw a manatee which he was able to capture via an underwater video and share with everyone. Plus he staged the three of us to get a photo for a memory keepsake. The weather was beautiful, and the paddling was easy. It could not have been a better experience. I highly recommend Discovery Kayak & SUP for a special Nature retreat.
