Terrible listing agent of a property we had wanted to view because of an open house. We came from…read moreout of state late Friday night. Property was listed Friday during the day. Saturday we did a drive by because we were in the area. There was a sign saying "Open House", and on Zillow it was scheduled for Sunday from 1-4pm. Sunday, we arrive at 12:30, because we got some groceries from H-Mart nearby. When we got there, there was no one around at all, and it seemed suspiciously quiet for a home that presumably was having an open house. No one was in the driveway. I would assume the agent would come early to set up or make the home presentable. Another red flag was that the "Open House" tag on the sign was taken off. The Zillow listing no longer has the open house scheduled. And when we called the number on the sign on the front lawn, a woman picked up -- I believe a receptionist -- and she said she didn't think there was an open house scheduled, and that I should call the number on the sign -- that's the number we had called in the first place. Next we tried the listing agent. She picked up after six rings, and sounded very annoyed, loud, and brash, as if who could possibly deign to call her on a Sunday afternoon! She says the house already had several offers and was no longer on the market-- in spite of being listed on Zillow for ONE day, and a scheduled open house -- and that she decided to cancel the open house due to some emergency. YEAH, RIGHT. She cancelled because the seller probably accepted one of those offers. I don't care if an offer is made or accepted, but why the hell would you schedule an open house if several people are already making offers? Makes no sense! As we were leaving, we saw two other cars line up by the house. What a joke.

It was very difficult getting the C of O and contractors to respond in a timely fashion, as well as getting parts due to supply chain issues now in 2022. Alka gave us a contractor referral (Carlos) who was responsive and did great work, and also a mason for a chimney repair on our former home. The transaction was very stressful for me with unfair pressure from the buyers during a seven-week transaction (which is pretty fast!), and undue pressure and threats from their attorney as well. Alka was very patient and reassuring, as was the attorney she recommended, who was terrific (Eric Chung). We recommended her to our friends even before she sold our house, and she sold our friends' property back in October in record time for them. When we purchased our new home, Alka helped us out with the comp for our new home, even before we contracted with her to sell our old home. In addition, Alka is also just a nice person, bright, and a pleasure to work with.
