I spent time at this facility waiting for a opening somewhere else after having a stroke. I NEVER felt comfortable there. There weren't enough staff to adequately address the needs of people living there. They seemed to hire the lowest qualified person's to fill jobs. I felt they in return these low skilled employees were overseeing other low skilled mployees. Examples include hiring one LPN nurse and placing on her ALL the duties normally done by higher qualified nurses, like RN's. They're probably not doing anything illegal, but l think they're walking the line by pushing these employees to the max. I found the people dispensing medications to have minimal training. They were unable to pronounce the name of drugs they were dispensing or understand issues like appropriate milligrams, etc. The expectations were to track medications by reading and matching up who gets what. Only requiring the most basic of math skills. Out of curiosity l asked which organization gave them the *****rating and was stunned when l was told they themselves decided to add the 5 stars rating to their describing summary of the facility. This was not given by any regulatory organization who evaluate the care people there receive from the staff. In the time l was there, I experienced being told with whom l was to eat with and the chair/table l was expected to sit at. It was obvious not much thought was given to the task of seating arrangements in the dining room. They told me to sit with a very nice black woman, but she was unable to converse to any great extent because she was deaf. The food was not especially tasty, more institutional like than anything else. The whole mealtime arrangements seemed to be arranged for staff convenience and left me feeling. Seemed they didn't expect people to be able to find a place to sit for a meal. That people needed to be directed to a specified table/chair and with whom they're to share a meal with. They like to called Fox Hollow a "retirement community" but to me l found it to be more of a institution. I saw them repeatability, every day for hour's, sit a retired military man confined to a wheelchair to place him sitting alone in his chair until a time they wanted to assist him with getting into bed. No thought seemed to be given to matching his sex, personality or interests with other's in the place. While there a woman died alone in her room. It was obvious she was in a fragile state. I didn't however see staff making a effort to address her as a special person who shouldn't have been alone at her passing. Found most everything at Fox Hollow to be substandard and given by the least qualified person's. For what's given l think it's a expensive place. In all honesty l wouldn't recommend Fox Hollow. Staff's attitudes need adjustment. To be more individualized in meaningful ways. I believe most people residing there feel minimized as a person by staff employed to care for aging population. I also noticed they didn't treat people with the honesty l expect from care providers. Putting it nicely, a prior resident, gives the place a -5 rating. They repeatedly stretched truths to the point of dishonesty. It's clearly geared to meet the needs of person's who have significant cognitive impairment. I don't think they're so depersonalizing of residents, to allow bedsores or other types of mistreatment to occur, but it was a place l NEVER felt good about being part of. Other's felt the same way. Most staff Dicounted residents BIG time!!! Prior to moving in l met me the marketing director. She inquired as to my likes, hobbies, etc. But these issues were NEVER brought up again. It was clearly cheap useless chat and NEVER thought about again. This talk was not intended as part of anything. It's as if if we never had touched on such idea's. Just a place l didn't like. Fox Hollow Assisted Living in Pinehurst, NC used to be a wonderful place for Senior Adults needing assistance. Their turnover was minimal. Now it's a regular occurrence. They are understaffed, many of the staff members seem to not like their job and take it out on the residents and the food is sub par. Food is cold and meat is tough more times than not. No matter how many times these issues are brought to the attention to the administration, you're told that they'll work on it. Nothing seems to change. Fox Hollow is now nothing like it was a few years ago. It's far from "assisted" living now. What a shame. read more

My mother is a resident at Fox Hollow. I was very impressed with the facility & all those that I met there. The facility is clean, the staff is very courteous & accommodating, & very adept at taking care of her needs. My mother speaks often about the staff telling me about what a good job they do. Could not find my first review. Very unhappy. Only spent three(3) months there. No hot water most of the time. Cold food. No help making the bed. No snacks most of the time. Enough said!! read more

My 94 year old mother has lived at Fox Hollow for the past 2 years and I spend 3 or 4 days a week with her. I have come to know every staff member and resident in the assisted living quarters of Fox Hollow. I witness how the residents are treated with great care and respect, the wonderful activities available to them, the reliable transportation provided to them, and the delicious choice of meals served to them in the dining room. There is no reason to believe any negative comments printed in reviews for Fox Hollow. So many staff members have been there for years, and new staff has been hired. The halls are filled with the aides in green shirts all bustling about caring for the needs of our loved ones. The med techs make sure everyone gets their meds on time. If residents are not in their rooms when meds are administered, the med techs will find them. The dining room seating assignments are cautiously planned by the staff. Because I know these residents, their personalities and interests, I can honestly say that the pairings could not be better matched. The wait staff assigned to my mother's table know what she enjoys, especially when she wants something from the alternate menu. At 94 she still has good mental and physical capabilities - and a cell phone. If anything displeases her, she will definitely let me know about it. Very seldom has she had any complaints. If so, the staff rectifies it immediately. The small population of the community lends itself to a close knit, family oriented environment. I urge anyone in need of assisted living for a loved one to take a tour, spend time talking with visiting family members of the residents, watch the activities in session while you are there, and enjoy a splendid meal in the dining room.
