If you're not familiar with the process, first you get your vehicle's VIN number traced by a mechanic or PennDOT authorized notary, transfer your registration over and receive your plates/registration, and then go back to the mechanic to get your car inspected. Depending on how you choose to approach this process, you could be driving between the DMV and a garage a few times, I can't even imagine how awful it would be if you chose to obtain your PA driver's license in the same day. Abel transferred my girlfriend's registration over to PA, issued her plates and registration, and had everything done within 20 minutes. How easy! Sure, we paid a tiny bit more than we would had we done everything ourselves. But with our hectic work schedules, it isn't worth it. Highly recommend!

I say wait I'm using my old plate. Notary says too late, you're supposed to say first thing that you are using your old plate. Exact words to me..."it's all on you now." She did not ask me at the beginning of the transaction if I was using my old plate, I guess everyone else but me is just born knowing that.
