If you've been on her site, you've probably seen it. It is a painting of some Irish sheep on a hillside, reminiscent of a contemporary Alfred Morris piece. It had hung over my in-laws' coal-burning fireplace for more than 40 years. It was covered in soot, and the varnish had discolored and deteriorated terribly. The frame was in such bad condition it didn't make the trip from Ireland. Caroline made it a true Labor of Love, and the results are astonishing. The image is far brighter now, and she not only cleaned it up, she removed the bad varnish and replaced it with a new, clear, much more durable one. We found a frame selection that we felt was perfect for the image, but were thrown a mean curve ball--it was discontinued, and the manufacturer was out of business. Undaunted, Caroline literally scouted the country for it, and struck pay dirt with a small distributor in the Seattle area. They had just enough stock to complete the project, and we are ecstatic at the result. A full step-by-step video of the process of her cleaning and restoration of the piece is on the Uptown website, and is a wonderful showcase of her care and ability. I can recommend her without reservation, and going forward, I would not trust anyone else to even touch my art. Art is after all, greatened or lessened with the benefit of a proper framing. Get it wrong, and an otherwise fantastic work can be seriously diminished. Get the framing correct and it will serve to magnify & compliment the framed object. The frame station staff seem to understand these basic concepts and work diligently to apply them in their products.

I had a large photograph of my great-grandmother that I had in a glassless frame. It also had a…read morecouple of minor tears that needed repaired. I took it to FS and told them I just needed glass for the frame. The man working referred me to "a guy" who repairs artwork. There was a binder of his work. I said okay, I will try him first. I called and he gave me his address as he works out of his home in Clintonville. It turned out he only scans pieces (and not as large as what I had), not repairs them. He referred me to a shop off Kenny. I went there (the shop off Kenny) and was told they could repair my large portrait, and I also showed them a small photo I had that was stuck to the glass in the frame. Several weeks and $125 later I got both pieces back, unrepaired, and was emailed the scanned copies. This is all sidebar, because I am not reviewing that shop. I did not complain to the owner so it is not fair to write a bad review. I do appreciate the scanned photo that apparently could not be repaired (they didn't try to remove it from the glass), but I didn't need the scanned great-grandmother photo. Anyway. I took my large piece back to FS and a woman was working. She tried to refer me to "the guy" again but I said no. She then advised she could use a special art marker on the minor tears. I said yes. A week later I had my beautifully repaired and glassed in frame for around $30. It was perfect. I wish this woman had been working to begin with because she knew how to repair my piece. Let this be a warning to anyone being referred to a guy who just scans. I will definitely use this shop again.

We chose one of her recommendations and DAS professionally re-framed the artwork. We even were able to pick up the work a week earlier than the time quoted. The picture with the new frame looks fabulous and so, so much better. We were very pleased with the entire process and the end result!

Never going back here to frame anything nor for anything at all…read more They first presented me the work with lint all over my artwork on the inside of the glass and they didn't even offer a discount after I drove so far just to come back again for their mistake. They fixed it only after I pointed it out. The job was sloppy, it's like expensive materials used to make a sloppy frame. They don't deserve to use such materials. Also I got a quote from 10k frames for the same materials and they were $200 less! I felt so bad I didn't go to them first. I'm going to reframe the work soon just so I can say someone else did it. And they had the nerve to put their information at the back of the frame so unprofessionally, of course I took it off! I will go elsewhere unless I wanted hobby work done with expensive materials that are not even that expensive they over charged me by $200. Walnut and museum glass is not that expensive! I'm not going to tell people where to frame their work but I will let you know I'm never recommending anyone when they ask me and I will never go here again.
