They are professional without being stuffy and I have to admit that I was blown away by the selection. Pricing is very competitive especially considering that they offer everything from very approachable art that was on sale at the front door, to LITERALLY museum quality glass (it's a thing I promise) that can be chosen as an option. I brought in a 30x40 reprint of a 1924 map of Manhattan, and I had no prior experience with custom framing. Turns out the guy who printed the map for me left too much white margin to be covered by even the most overlapping frame, so the owner of the shop Cheryl (or Sheryl?) advised me to let her trim it down some to make the finished product look more polished and avoid being an oversized job. Great advice. The finished product was beautiful, and from what I can see, great quality. I have to take off a star because the shop is so busy that they are currently behind, which pushed my completion date back a week and a half from the estimate. That posed a problem for me because it was a gift. No one communicated to me that the project would be late, I had to call to check on progress to find that out that the job hadn't been cut yet, which was annoying. I'm only taking off one star because of the great finished work, and C/Sheryl explained to me the extenuating circumstances behind her being temporarily understaffed. I can be sympathetic to those types of problems in small businesses. If it happens again I will update my review and lessen the rating. read more

Really great folks. I've taken two different prints to them and they did a great job on both. Very personable, knowledgeable about options, and reasonable prices. The only downside, and this isn't their fault, is that it can be tough to park in the complex where their shop is located. Likely easier during the day than at dinner time. read more

Super place to go. We first started using Cheryl at Frame Savvy when she was located in Mount Rainier. We continued to find excellent support when the shop relocated to Hyattsville. She has great customer service, is super knowledgeable and has a great eye for framing and matting the most difficult pictures and items. I recently had a set of 4 square photos (the Peter Lik Elements series) plus 1 large ketubah framed here and was extremely pleased with the entire process. The Elements 4 pack is strangely mounted and thus hard to frame, but Frame Savvy did a wonderful job. The ketubah mat and frame is beautiful, and I'm glad the lady recommended a dual mat because it makes a huge difference. The customer service was great; I felt like the lady there was truly interested in providing the best possible framing options. The work was outstanding. Frame Savvy seemed like a good business right when I walked in, because the person running the store was courteous, friendly, and attentive with me even though she was already juggling two other customers. When she was finished attending to her first two customers, she: -listened to what I wanted -didn't try to force anything on me or upsell me (which was the bad experience that I had at a certain craft store chain) -offered me a few reasonable options -explained plainly and politely why certain ideas I had wouldn't work with my item, and -named a price which was precisely in my budget. When my item was finished a few weeks later, she handed me back exactly what I had wanted and expected. I would definitely go back to Frame Savvy to get another item framed. read more

I chose this shop because it is a convenient location and the price I was quoted over the phone seemed very reasonable compared to some of the other price-shopping I did. My visit in person was equally pleasant, with the woman there taking the time to explain and show different frame and mat choices, price points, etc. The finished product was very nicely done (and it was a rather large custom framing job). Despite dropping it off just a couple of weeks before Christmas, and stating that I didn't really need it back until January, they still had it done and ready to go before Christmas. I will happily use this business again the next time I need framing. read more

Very sloppy and disappointing. I brought an already framed picture and asked them to attach a wider frame to the existing one. I brought the entire package, with the frame, measured and cut. All they had to do is put it together. It took them 2.5 weeks to do it and the work was sloppy at best. The corners of the frame had glue on them, not cleaned from the work done. I cleaned it, you are welcome. And on top of that, the frame I brought was noticeably damaged on one side. Amateur work, I would not recommend it at all! read more

I noticed this frame shop a few months ago and . . . as needed art framed, I figured I'd give them a shot. As a color-blind person, I often rely on others to help me find the right color and fit for most things that I purchase. Well, I was truly wowed by what I saw when she unveiled my five pieces. And, my friends who saw the work were impressed. But it's not the color matching and attention to detail that's most impress about this shop - the owner is invested in her practice, the community, and has a warm sprit. I'm very happy with my experience here. My husband and I decided to get one of our wedding photos custom-framed, and Cheryl did a great job explaining different options and price points, and showing me different mattes and frames of how it could look. I felt like she would have taken as much time as it required for me to feel comfortable, so I didn't feel rushed in any way. The final price was literally almost $200 cheaper than what a local Michael's store quoted me as, and I felt great giving my business to a small local business instead of a chain store! The frame and matting looks amazing, and I'm already imagining the compliments we'll get on it! I also intend to go back for more framing services as well as browse their small collection of local artists' paintings that you can buy there.
