Hailing from Kilkenny, the Folkster team are transforming Irish fashion one fabulous fedora at a time. Not your typical vintage shop, it's a miasma of the old, the new and the futuristic. The staff are always bang on, giving ace style advice and general chat. Fashionistas every one of them... they're inspiring rather than intimidating. Price wise, it ain't cheap but it's not staggeringly expensive. Your pockets may be lighter leaving but the spring in your sartorialist step will most certainly balance you out!

Dirty Fabulous has been mentioned a few times as a place to find good vintage clothing, particularly dresses. It's upstarts in one of the georgian buildings on Baggot street, so it's a bit off the beaten track, and I suspect you have to have an appointment - well for wedding dresses you certainly do. We were taken into a room with beautiful things that girls love, but what surprised me was the range of dresses was quite small. The nature of vintage being what it is means that you do have to be lucky to be in the room at the same time as the dress you want. However I found the staff great, they do realise the nature of the search and offer to keep your details and to let you know if anything that you would like does come in. And the dresses are beautiful. You can see these really beautiful different styles from various decades - 50s, 20s, 60s etc. There's also beautiful vintage jewelry and accessories. So if you're a vintage style lover this is definitely a place for you. I do have to say that the staff here really stood out. We had a few appointments that same day and no-one gave us advice anything like the lady in Dirty Fabulous. I think my friend was very tired of mediocre dresses at this point, and she picked her up by telling her not to mind any nonsense people tell her in shops about deadlines. She gave her great advice about trying things on even if they were in the wrong colour or shape to get a better idea of what works and what doesn't. She gave us cards of other shops which might stock dresses that she might also like. She organised us bridesmaids, who were flailing about uselessly, by designating a note-taker and talking about mailing lists. And all of it was done in a gentle, understanding way which made us all warm to her, and agree we would certainly recommend the place. She said to us as we were leaving "always remember to eat between every appointment and have a glass of wine with lunch".... after a footsore day with a disappointed bride-to-be the importance of this advice really stands out in my mind!

I had clearly stated when I booked that I was looking for wedding accessories and jewellery, but as soon as she established I already had my dress she seemed annoyed I was there. When showing me selections of accessories she pushed hard to sell regardless of whether I seemed interested or comfortable which was dissimilar to most of the bridal appointments I had experienced. I'd be wary of going back again.

Why else would Nijou lure me in with flash frocks supposedly marked down but still more than €100? Yes, there's loads to pick from - styles are passable apes of some of the hottest hemlines of the past few seasons - and the tightly packed, narrow store feels sale-season hectic with those crammed racks of filmy mid-market frocks. Great for Debs, semi-formals and window shopping, Nijou fits right in as a side street solution to High Street boutiques.

Ruth was really helpful and set the items we selected aside as we shopped to our hands free. They have change rooms for you to try clothing as needed and an attendant to help you find sizes. What was really unique and cool to see was the Irish gold jewelry pieces and to learn the history about the particular source of the gold. They sell quality products from local and Irish companies. I really enjoyed finding true Irish based products. Thank you ladies!! I was in Dublin for just 7 days and I came back to this shop twice! 10 out of 10 highly recommend!

We were told by a retail worker who looked ashamed, that they did not have lifts. Only stairs. l then looked at the stairs and it looked like Mount Everest to me. My disability is 90% invisible however I know my limits and I had my wheelchair with me that day. The lovely retail worker offered us free tea or coffee for us to go. However at this point I felt dejected. All I wanted to do was get something to eat with my father. To whoever owns this store an/or the building; DO BETTER! How would you feel if you couldn't see half the shop? Grab a bite to eat and a drink? How would you feel if that was your child? We are only a few days away from 2026 and to see this type of discrimination against disabled people is shocking. I am n mincing my words. It was pure discrimination. Pure and simple.

The prices are accordingly pitched, and you would be hard pressed to find any item of clothing here for under €80. A designer dress suit could cost anything up to €300. A little hickey and old for my taste, but there's plenty of linens and floral prints here in the summer, and chunky knitted cardigans and wool coats in the winter. My mother has picked up a few lovely wedding outfits here, but only shops in Serena's during the sales, when they have up to 80% off!

It's a melting pop of Irish designers and jewellers giving them the opportunity to sell their wares and have an outlet to the general public. Now, I'm not talking about a "ladies who lunch" boutique that takes appointments and only stocks size 6 and under -this is a burgeoning den of cool where Dublin designers try something new and show it all off on the racks and brick walls of this raw industrial space. On weekends a DJ spins (though I'm over the ironic replaying of 80s b-sides) and headband-wearing, skinny jeaned hipsters lounge on the sofas.
