This place was very cool. I've always wanted to stop by but they close at 5:30 p.m. and I'm usually further into town at that point. However we parked at the mall across the street on this trip and this was right across the street. My husband really wants a grandfather clock and he was very excited to check out the selection. Prices seemed kind of high to me but to be fair I don't know anything about grandfather clocks, lol. They also have a nice selection of Frankenmuth magnets, they ranged from like $4 to $10. I ended up buying one of the $4 ones. The reason I'm bumping up this review to five stars is because I lost my Fitbit there (Fitbit Zip, an old one that sits on my waist, not my watch) and when my husband and I got to Kern's and realized it, we rushed back to the store to check there first (it was 530pm). The (owner? Employee?) welcomed us back, and another customer immediately pointed to it on the floor. Saved us a lot of hassle and had they closed immediately at 530pm, the doors may have been locked. Looking forward to checking this store out again the next time we are in town. read more

They have a great selection of both quartz and weight driven cuckoo clocks. Not cheap but I have never seen a cheap new cuckoo clock. They are knowledgeable in clock repair. I actually went there for some clock parts and they don't sell the parts from the store, only on line so that was a waste but the guys were good to talk to and answered some of my clock questions. read more

The friendliest, coziest clock shoppe, ever. It doesn't matter if we have business here, it's a stopping point every time we come to town. The sweetest folks work here. Always a great conversation and an education in time pieces. The group in the back can repair or restore most anything. We've had two intricate grandfathers restored and they do incredible work. One took six months and the other seven. The wait was well worth it. Back to the store. They have clocks of all sizes and price ranges. On our initial visit to the store we spent over an hour, like it were a museum. This isn't the dime store, so know that you'll be paying a hefty price for most any clock here. Again, it's an investment that justifies the price. This is also your place for authentic German Christmas pyramids. We bought the pyramid with Seiffen church for under $100. A neat little wooden pyramid with a German church, carolers and a Christmas tree. When the tea lights are lit, the rising heat causes the blades to turn. I was in Frankenmuth for a weekend with a few people and had to stop in. My mom is from Germany and we always had this cuckoo clock up since I was a little kid. I remember asking to wind it up at times and her "closing" the door at night so it wouldn't wake us all up when it went off. For me it was nostalgic. I looked around this shop for a long time (there's so much to see). I ended up buying a wood carving candle display and my sister in law chose the one I was on the fence about. The staff were very nice and attentive. I've seen other reviews saying it felt like they were being watched and all that, but I didn't get that feeling at all. I mean, we're talking about clocks that are delicate and not easy or cheap to replace, so of course someone will be on the floor at all times. I highly recommend stopping in if you get the chance it's well worth it. read more

This is a very interesting shop on the south edge of the Main St. commercial area in Frankenmuth. There are clocks galore including some intriguing cuckoo clocks and impressive grandfather clocks. There are also some other items such as music boxes. On a visit to Frankenmuth in December 2023, we stopped in to see this amazing collection of clocks, nutcrackers, and other items. It certainly appeals to your visual & auditory senses. The staff was friendly, almost hovering, but understandable given the amount of inventory and price of some items. They will gladly engage the cuckoo clocks for your listening & viewing pleasure. We narrowed our search to two nutcrackers. They were identical -- except for the color of the pants. The price difference between the two nutcrackers was $110. Staff were "not entitled" (their words), to negotiate price and could only offer the explanation of "...owner will not negotiate" (or something similar) due to when the items were purchased/obtained. How unfortunate that the sales team was not empowered with decision-making skills or important sales skills which would have resulted in a sale. We left without a nutcracker. Note for Mr. Nestell: Train, empower & trust your sales team. Your business may not suffer from this one lost sale, but customer loyalty and word of mouth advertising is priceless. read more

I called the Frankenmuth Clock shop in Frankenmuth for advice about my grandfather clock. The clock has a Hermle movement and is 29 years old. After our last move the clock would not work properly - stopped at the same time every 12-hours. They suggested I bring in the movement, pendelum and weights - so I did. When I got to the shop they spent at least 10 seconds looking at the movement (no exaggeration) and concluded it was shot and needed to be replaced, if still available. If available it would cost about $1300. If a replacement movement was not available, they could rebuild it, estimated to cost $1000, but they had a 400 clock backlog they estimated would take 2 years to clear! They promised to call with an answer on the availability of a replacement movement. After a week and no call from the Frankenmuth Clock Shop, I called the Hermle company in Stuttgart, Germany. They referred me to their US technical assistance shop in Amherst, Virginia. I talked to a young technician there had he said there is no way the fault described could be caused by a worn movement. His advice was to give the movement a good cleaning and lubrication, and gave me step-by-step instructions. For about $15 in supplies and a couple of hours of my time, the clock is working better than ever. I wish the Frankenmuth Clock Company had been honest, helpful and up front at the beginning. Buyer beware - they just want to rip you off. read more

This is our second time in Frankenmuth, and the second time we've been here. I love the variety of cuckoo clocks that they have here and I would highly recommend even if you're not planning on buying a cuckoo clock, please still stop in and see the amazing artwork that is put into these clocks. This shop is a rip off. I visited Frankenmuth with a group of people, and five of us bought clocks here. Within 2 months all stop working. I returned to Frankenmuth a short time later and brought three of the clocks with me. The owner was not present, but I spoke to a very bossy woman who seemed to be in charge. She was extremely nasty when I complained about the clocks, and said they had no warranty because they were sale clocks, even though I had receipts showing they were purchased at full price. She refused to discuss the matter any further, and told an employee charge him to replace the movement and shipping to return it if he wants them to work. This shop gives Frankenmuth a bad name. Avoid shopping there. Note: We were staying at the Drury Inn, and they had a clock from this shop on their wall that did not work. Living in SE Michigan for 50 years (have since moved out of state) we often went to Frankenmuth. On our last visit we purchased a german pyramid for $439. The store shipped the package and when it arrived some of the wooden pieces came off pyramid and were scattered in box (They did a poor job of packing). I looked online at Frankenmuth Clock Store in order to glue pieces back in correct spots. I noticed the same pyramid was $80 cheaper on their (Frankenmuth Clock Store website) than in store. I called to see if I could get $80 charge credit. I was told they wanted to check out the information and would call back. They called back and said no to $80 difference. Claimed the price wrong online along with 9 other pyramids. When I looked online after phone call they increased the price. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THIS STORE AGAIN!! A cool clock shop with ornate german cuckcoo clocks, grandfather clocks and other unique types of clocks. It's a little cramped and filled with delicate and expensive clocks. The most expensive one I saw was priced at $6,000. We were followed around by an employee, but they didn't say anything to us. So if you have small children, I would not recommend going here. read more

Loved it and decided to buy one. Only thing is you don't save tax when you ship out of state. That don't do that in Michigan. But it arrived safely in my home. German made and I bought a quartz clock instead of the traditional pulley ones. That have all kinds so check it out. You should be able to find what you are looking for. read more

We had some routine maintenance done on our cuckoo clock. Packed it up and took it to them to have it looked at. They replaced the movement and did some cleaning. When we played the clock after getting home, it sounded like a record player at 78 speed. I call them and asked why is it playing so fast. They didn't answer the question but told me the speed would slow down over time. What an excuse to give the customer. It hasn't slowed down at all. Still cuckooing with music playing at 78 speed. They just lied to satisfy the time being. They are expensive too .. $250 for their work and they messed the clock up for good. Terrible !!! read more

This store has an amazing collection of unique clocks, many straight from Germany. A must see stop, especially if you are traveling from out of town. The sales people are very knowledgeable about the clocks and are so friendly. I purchased a large item from this store and they delivered it to my home in Clarkston (an hour away). They set it up for me (a very nice man named Greg), and made sure everything worked before leaving. Very impressed by their customer service !! read more

Walking around Frankenmuth you have to make it a point to drop in -if only for a minute. With 1000+ clocks on display from Germany (and some reasonably priced) you will not be disappointed. The detail on most of the clocks is ornate and different from anything I have spotted anywhere else. A definite for the Frankenmuth visitor. read more

One of the best clock stores I order online. All the cuckoo clocks parts I bought was from Frankenmuth. They have everything from the carving of the face plates, to the clock movement, to parts I need, and everything to either build or repair a cuckoo clock. Virtually every part of my clock came from here. The shipping is very reasonable, free if order over a certain amount and I always do. The price are very well priced out as well and everything is virtually from Germany, none of that "made in china" garbage here. Took a clock in for repair, and the repair woman was less than friendly. She was rude and condescending to me. She tried to make me feel stupid just because I didn't know anything about clocks! It's a cool place to look around, and the sales people on the floor were friendly. But I WILL NOT take my business to a place that can't treat me with respect. I did not leave my clock there.
