There is no charge to get in. The paved road around the lake has been split into a one-way driving/biking road and a with an adjacent walking lane. There is a Hike/bike trail called The Freedom Trail that borders this park. Metro Parks Summit County is going to add a connector trail between them in 2026. The Freedom Trail in this area is a rail trail, so it is pretty flat. There is an area called Tallmadge Meadows that to me is a separate park, because the two areas have very different prior ownership and history, but Metro Parks considers them to be the same park. The parking for Tallmadge Meadows is right around the corner from South River Rd. on South Main St. (Rt 91). There is also a trailhead in Munroe Falls for the Summit County Bike and Hike Trail. It is about a ¼ mile North of South River Rd and runs along the Cuyahoga River. I used to be a Firefighter/EMT in Munroe Falls and it was not unusual for us to get called out to the "Metro Park" and have to ask, "which one"? All 3 of these are great parks and I consider myself luck to live in between them.

Towner's Woods has some of the finest trails in the region, contained within a variety of environments. Near the park's entry, there is gorgeous Lake Pippin. Although water access isn't permitted because it is owned by the city of Akron (used for their water supply), some of the trails provide a scenic, somewhat hilly walk alongside it. The historic Hopewell burial mound (marked by an arrowhead on the map) is also near this entry portion of the park. The geography also includes flatter wetland terrain, a popular sledding hill, and a few ponds scattered throughout the woods. People use the park for trail running, dog walking (only on leash), and even cross country skiiing or snow shoeing in season. You could easily crank out 5-6 miles or more, if you were willing to retrace a few sections of the trail. All routes are well marked and maintained, and it would be hard to get lost in here for too long. Even on sunny weekends, I've been surprised at how sparsely populated the park is. Because of it's sprawling size, it's easy to have a very solitary experience. There are picnic pavilions and benches scattered around for warmer weather. Parking is plentiful just off the Ravenna Road entrance. There are also bathrooms in this area. If you're traveling on foot or by bike (bikes not permitted on the park's interior trails, though), you can get here via the Portage County Hike and Bike Trail. I hope you'll enjoy Towner's as much as I have. Whatever the season, it's an ideal place for a peaceful and active wander.

The bog offers a boardwalk that winds its way through an amazing display of vegetation (the best moss collection; ever!) and hidden tunnels cleared by the adorable turtles that live here. As you move along the path you can truly appreciate its peacefulness as it is very secluded from the clutter that is Kent. There are plenty of interesting plaques to educate you on local wildlife, plants and the surrounding area. There are also plenty of benches available for those of you who have difficulty getting about or just want to enjoy this hidden slice of green blissfulness. The bog is extremely clean, probably due to it not being pet friendly, there are no picnic areas or playgrounds...but if your child loves the mysterious land of gnomes & faeries this is the perfect place to search for them.

We have a walking trail with multiple pathways around a cute little pond. The landscape is well maintained with fresh mulch and mowing accomplished regularly. Along the edge of the manicured areas one can see different flora and fauna including bunnies and even find wild raspberries during the summer. Every spring the geese and goslings spend much time around the park. One can reserve the pavilions for around $20/day through the P&R website. During the appropriate seasons, there are athletics, soccer and baseball are most common. Fishing is a common activity seen when the temperatures are right. There are 2 small playgrounds, one is well designed for younger children and the other is more suited for school age children. As for down sides, the wooden structures like the pavilions, the gazebo, and the deck over the water could use some maintenance. Occasionally the mosquitoes get out of hand. Given that the park has a pond, and marshes, this is expected. The City of Kent usually controls this with mosquito spraying but during the height of mosquito season, bring repellent just in case the spraying hasn't been done yet.

There are plenty of pavilions to enjoy a picnic at, a childrens playground, sporting fields & a large basketball court. Because it is tucked away inside of a newer housing development, you can't see it from the main road nor would you even know it was there; there are no signs... I stopped going here so often because one of my dogs is a pure bred American Pitbull rescue & I wasn't crazy about the Silver Meadows (it butts up to the park as well) trash harassing me to buy my dog every time I'd visit. Or sizing me up & making comments about taking my dog while they got drunk; anyways, I guess if you're a dog owner don't go by yourself. Your best bet is to take State Route 59 (a.k.a W. Main Street) to the Don Joseph Toyota, there is a side street in between the dealerships called Stonewater Drive. If you take that straight back you will see 2 gravel parking lots & Stonewater Skate Park....there is a gravel path that goes directly behind all the houses that will lead you to the hidden park. There might be better directions but since the park doesn't have an actual address I'm not sure how to explain a way to get there otherwise.

Although I'm confused by the history of the park, it appears that there was once a very large structure at the back of the property; as there is a very muddy section with broken concrete & clay pipes...perhaps this used to be the tennis courts? This park is quiet and somewhat unknown as it sits on a side road. I found its hidden location to be peaceful & relaxing place to walk/play with the dogs. Although there are no paths, it is also a good place to exercise where you wont have to be worried about annoying bicyclists running you over or not having enough distance between you & other dog owners.
