The calendar itself changes monthly, with sturdy cards featuring beautiful photographs from parks all across Summit County. It's a simple piece, but beautiful in its craftsmanship and the story behind it. Trail markers , paved trails, even a bi monthly quaterly magazine, listing all sorts of events. This was my first visit to an Ohio park to explore, and will defintly check out other locations in the near future. The vistor center staff were friendly ; the center itself was marvelous with variety of things to explore,the tree exhibit, the bird feeding area, kids area , turtles and the akorn gift shop. The gift shop shaped in a Maple leaf, in my opinion was genuis , simple addition to center for kids and nature lovers. Fall will be approaching soon; be sure to hike and enjoy the beauty of nature with exercise and fresh air.

The swimming area has life guards and an aid station. It is $5.00 / person and is open most days with fairly long hours. The hiking trail usually has someone doing some cross country running. But, it is hilly. However the trail difficulty is not too bad.

I used to live right next to Brust Park and would go there almost every day and in every season. You can never go wrong. By the parking area is an overlook looking at the Cuyahoga River. Which smells so fresh and clean. Walk the paved path (running along the river) East towards Kent or west towards Cuyahoga Falls/Silver Lake. You can make a left going west and end up in waterworks park, equally as gorgeous. It kind of seems like it's all the same park to me. Going west will also take you past a large pond that people fish in and there is often a blue heron hanging out there. There are many opportunities to get close to the river and many little trails off the beaten path that you can explore. There's always people kayaking. This park is so inspiring and I still make it a point to go out of my way to go here even though I live 30 minutes away now. As far as facilities go, there is a nice bathroom at the entrance and you can find more at waterworks a short way down the path. As far as the other review stating a junkyard exploded I have no idea what that is referring to. The park is scenic and clean, yes it does go behind some houses, but nice ones at that and I never felt that it took away from the experience. Also I don't recall there being ample trash cans for dog waste but I don't have a dog. I know there are at least a few trash cans going west. I wouldnt knock this place just for that though. I hope if you get the chance to enjoy this park that you love it as much as I do.

I recently found this cute and quaint park in Wadsworth, and I'm happy I did. I came here for a…read moreshort run on the trail and loved the scenery. The trail itself is a little over one mile paved from end-to-end. If you find yourself aching for more mileage, you can easily continue onto the neighborhood sidewalks. I found the entire park and the length of the trail well maintained, mowed, pruned, and litter-free. There's an event space, aptly named The Trolley Line House. It has the cutest signage featuring a model trolley and the exterior is decorated for fall. There's a bicycle parking rack and maintenance station for basic repairs or tube changes. Down by the parking area is a large picnic pavilion with four tables and electrical outlets. On the other side of the event house is a fire pit and I'd love to join a gathering here. All in all, it's a truly great little park. Can't wait to see if the trail gets extended - I'd be here even more if it was.

I've been making use of the various sections of this park now for several months and it's about…read moretime it got a well-deserved review out of me. In short, I really love this park. I think it's a shining gem and the area Metro Parks network. The park is segmented into at least three sections (it could be more, honestly). My personal favorite, and most frequently visited, is the archery range. Even if this was all the part consisted of, it would be the gem by itself. Anything like this I've found down south would come at a fee and still not be so well maintained. Then there's the XC course combined with the disc golf course. Just to sit or walk here taking in the broad vistas is a meditative experience for me. The entire place is cleaned and mowed frequently. Even in winter it can be breathtaking. To be honest, I haven't even made it to the main section of the park featuring the pond and trails where you can kayak and hike. All of this for the price of your tax dollars already paid. Still I see these places lightly visited and, therefore, even more worth your time.

O'Neil Woods is an interesting Metro Park connected to the CVNP. I did a hike along the Buckeye…read moreTrail starting at Ira Road to O'Neil Woods, dd the loop trail and then back to my car. The O'Neil Woods loop is a nice shorter moderate hike; good elevation change, some steeper portions and a variety of scenery. Starting at the parking lot and taking the trail at the far end of the lot you will have a fairly easy descent on a wider trail through the woods. After you cross the road you will have some nice views of the river and then the big red barn. Crossing back over the road is a narrower trail with steep switchbacks that will get your blood pumping as you climb about 300 vertical feet. At the top you will stay with the narrow trail through the woods and cross a bridge before completing the loop. Around the parking lot is a number of benches and picnic tables, including a picnic area overlooking a nice little gorge; looks like a very nice place to grab some food or just hang out. O'Neil Woods is not huge, there is just one trail that actually presents a nice challenge. Well worth a visit if you are looking for a shorter hike that will still give you a good workout.

The low area, along side the river, offers a flowered grassy fertile meadow and river views. the rocky hillside climbs give a cool overlook. The trail takes an hour if you are an accomplished hiker. This is not a good trail for a beginner and don't wear flip-flops.
