    Jam Dodger-yum! #frasers #cafe #coffee

Frasers is the only coffee house I go to in Mt Eden, due to serving Allpress coffee the way I like it and great cookies. I have been a regular here on/off for 7 years, depending on where I am residing and working. They are open long hours, they do the classic 'Eggs Benedict' to scrummy cheesecake, to grilled fish and soups. Sometimes the wait time is off the scale, really busy day and night, so that speaks for itself! I mustn't forget, they also do great (current) magazines such as British Vogue, Tatler, GQ, Harpers Bazaar and a few others. Worth a visit!

Frasers is the BEST! It's been around forever and hasn't changed over the years - open from early until late with cake all day. Firm favourites like their brownie or banoffee pie never leave the menu and there's a rotating specials board of other delicious items. They also do some amazing savoury stuff but who needs savoury when there's cake? They also do takeaway so if you can't pull yourself away from the TV for too long you don't have to miss out! I recommend pretty much all the sweet treats in the cabinet, but the banoffee and the citron tart are solid choices every time.

Frozen chocolate mousse with raspberry coulis... Yummy... It is surprisingly "lite". :p

This place gets very busy for dessert after dinner. You might need to wait a bit for a seat! Whilst waiting u can check out the bookstore next door which is open till 9pm! The dessert from the cabinet are usually those that I will order, like the usual New York Cheesecakes, the Lemon Meringue Pie etc. But tonight I went for their dessert from the blackboard and that was amazing too! I really loved the chocolate mousse with raspberry coulis... belgian dark and milk chocolate. Yumm~~ and its surprisingly 'lite' for a chocolate based dessert. Recommended for a great place to hang out after dinner but beware, there will be a lot of people on those friday and weekend nights.... hehe..

After working in Mt Eden for over a year, I am ashamed to admit that I had never been to Frasers. Now that I have visited I wish I had done it sooner, that way I could have enjoyed the goodness that is Frasers' goodies. I had always heard friends talking about Frasers but I thought talk is cheap and the place is probably overrated but boy was I wrong! I went there with two of my friends to catch up and since it was a causal coffee date we did not have any food but instead ordered a drink and muffins. I had an iced chocolate and a date scone. When I took my first sip of the iced chocolate it felt like my taste buds had entered another realm, this iced chocolate was iced to perfection. It was mixed to perfection, meaning that my tongue did not come into contact with any unwanted ice bits. The sweetness was just right, it wasn't too sweet neither was it bland. It was everything an iced chocolate should be, also they weren't stingy with the ice cream and I found myself enjoying some ice cream after I had gulped my drink down. Next time I will have some lunch!

View of Fraser's - note the great Dr. Seuss mural on the side of the building. A classic work of art that is iconic in Mt Eden.

Nice layout, coffee good, bagel very disappointing, not toasted, smeared with small amount of cream cheese and ham. Expected better.

I love this....my "physique", not so much ;) Entering here is basically like entering Whoopie Pie Heaven. They've taken an American classic and added a kiwi twist with flavours such as Hokey Pokey Chocolate, Anzac Cookie, Tangelo and Mixed Berry, Lamington...and the list goes on. They have two pie sizes, too, depending on your hunger/sweet tooth levels. "Whoopie Pops" are also on offer- a mixture of the pie and filling dipped in white chocolate. Can't reallllly go wrong there. Also awesome: dairy free, egg free and gluten free options available #winning.

I had actually never even seen a whoopie pie either, so I was quite excited about this new Kiwi take on a classic American treat! Once I heard it was two cakes sandwiched together with a creamy filling, I was absolutely hooked! My sister and I decided that we would try this place out and we are very glad we did. [Side note: make sure you go on an empty stomach because one Whoopie pie is filling!] We tried the 'Heroic' whoopie pie which is hazelnut and chocolate flavoured and the 'Playful' whoopie pie which consists of peanut butter and chocolate chunks. I was somewhat expecting a dry cake, but in fact it was incredibly moist! The filling just makes it a whole lot better! As well as selling whoopie pies, they also sell 'Whoopie Pops' (which look so nice in-store), hot drinks, milkshakes and ice cream sundaes - would could be more perfect?

If you're looking for a go to, quick breakfast, and a delicious latte. The prices are great and the lady owning it was super sweet. GO, don't wait.

Someone brought…read morehome an olive bread from La Voie Francaise that got me hooked, so I decided to have a late morning pastry feast of my own. A raspberry chocolate croissant, a chocolate brioche, and a canele topped my plate. The canele was my highlight, crispy and sweet on the outside and gooey on the inside. The brioche was freshly warm and soft but not too rich. The croissant was on the verge, somewhat stale around the edges but still enjoyable. The ups: these pastries and the olive bread were delicious. Prices are very reasonable too, only $10 all up for the three sweets. La Voie Francaise also boasts an inviting atmosphere that's relaxing but well kempt. The downs: I'm not convinced by these tastings that La Voie is all the rage, but that's probably just because I've been spoiled by the French market in Parnell. I'll be back for a croque monsieur at some stage, maybe my mind will change.

We were scouring the area specifically for pavlova as it's one of my faves and the adorable vibes drew us in. The dessert was lovely and so were the staff. Prices were good and their menu was massive with so many intriguing dessert options. You don't often see pavlova in the US so when I read that it's a popular dessert in New Zealand, I had it on my radar lol. They offer theirs with either passionfruit sauce or "berry" sauce. We went with the passionfruit which is quite unique for pavlova and it was a fantastic combination! The tart passionfruit sauce was a lovely compliment to the soft, sweet merengue. Chocolate Boutique is packed full of handmade chocolate bonbons, cakes, and all sorts of unique dessert gifts and options. They have hot or cold desserts and drinks and much more than just chocolate - like lemon tarts, apple crumble, carrot cake; and all sorts of other things like numerous hot chocolate drink flavors, teas and coffees too. If we weren't so stuffed from lunch I'm sure we would've tried more lol! They have options to order their chocolates online but you can also order desserts at the counter if you're dining in and they'll bring it out to your table. The seating areas quaint little nooks with wide open windows and street views of the cute Parnell area and a large red phone box - total European vibes - loved it! Of course, one of the first places I had us go to was the Chocolate Boutique. It might be tempting to eat your way through all those nearby markets (like at La Cigale), but you'll want to save some room for dessert. This shop sells what I consider the best hot chocolate you'll ever taste called the Italian Denso. It is thick, rich and decadent hot chocolate with whipped cream on top and chocolate flakes. Think of it as a cup of a molten lava cake. And the best part, nobody will judge you for drinking your dessert. Okay, maybe SOME skinny model from LA? But she isn't here!
