Between watching the boats go by and all the people watching, there was never a dull moment. Walking in, it feels like you've stepped off a boat and into a laid-back waterfront spot. From the bar, you can see just about everything, including 2 Georges next door. It was a beautiful evening with a nice breeze coming off the water, which made the atmosphere even better. We started with the coconut shrimp, which was so good I completely forgot to take a picture before eating it. The shrimp were large, crispy, and packed with flavor. The mango salsa added a nice sweet and fresh touch that paired perfectly with the crunchy coconut coating. We also shared the salmon topped with crab. It came with mashed potatoes, asparagus, and a creamy lemon sauce that tied everything together. The fish was cooked perfectly, and every bite was delicious. Overall, we had a wonderful time. Great food, beautiful views, and a relaxing atmosphere. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu

The Therien family started in the restaurant business in 1971. They also own Prime Catch, nearby. It is estimated that over 12 million customers have visited Banana Boat, and over 7,000 employees have worked here over the years. Currently there are a few 30 + year employees. This evening we listened to the Nicolas Cole Band while dining. There are gluten free, bar bite, brunch and kids menus. The dinner menu is Ala carte. I love their chowders & fresh seafood salads, this is what I usually order. On the menu are tacos, burgers, steaks, wraps along with fish & seafood choices. Every time I've been here my meal has been fresh and delicious, we've never been disappointed. Casey brought us a round of drinks, my peach sangria was refreshing & delicious. We started by sharing the lobster lettuce wraps. We each had a piece of fried breaded, lobster and slaw wrapped in lettuce, it was tasty. For our entrée we shared swordfish over rice, the swordfish was rather small. It was mostly rice. We shared the Blondie brownies stack for dessert. It was huge warm and very rich. All eight of us enjoyed our meals. We enjoyed the band and got up and danced. The older people left and a younger crowd came in at 8 o'clock. It was a nice evening out.

I have to say that some of the Yelp reviews of Hunters Run (HR) are quite ridiculous, nit-picky,…read moreand unfair and are more of a reflection on the reviewers than HR. Hunters Run is a country club with a membership and payment arrangement in-line with many of the gated communities in the area. If you don't like the model where you pay upfront, regular, cadenced fees for access and availability of a defined set of services, then don't elect this model! Live somewhere else, there are many, many options out there. Don't give it 1 star - that's not a rating that's a lifestyle choice. The complaints about the management/staff are also ridiculous. I've been to HR 100s of times as my parents have lived there for over 20 years, and the staff is amazing and professional, especially when you consider that the clientele can be very difficult to please and accommodate. The golf courses, recreational facilities (the gym and card playing rooms, etc.), the tennis and pickle ball courts, and the restaurants are top of the line. I'm always amazed at how good the food is, and I'm a pretty tough to please foodie. Yes, you have to pay upfront for these services, but if you intend to use them you will spend far less than if you paid for them "as you go". Hunters Run, having been built relatively early on in the development of the area, is far more east than the later-built communities that are popping up further and further west, where it is most definitely a few degrees hotter. I think this is an advantage of HR. The grounds are meticulously maintained, perhaps too meticulous in my view as the Floridian cycle of mulching, planting, pruning relentlessly drives-on all year. I notice right away how "theme-park" looking HR appears when I first enter the gate and drive down the main room. The security is also quite impressive; the guards are very professional and pleasant to deal with and incredibly responsive. Again, reading the reviews I think some people love to complain and are never happy. I think Hunters Run is one of the top gated communities in the whole area. It's not the highest of the high end, but it's definitely in the upper tier, if that's what you're looking for. In fact, the management deserves kudos because it is on a mission to constantly improve the country club and if they can be criticized for anything it's that they're too aggressive. You will find a general divide amongst the residents - newer residents tend to be in favor of the improvements (which can be quite expensive) and older residents tend to favor the status quo. If you want the community to continue to keep up with the Joneses, you have to keep modernizing and improving, otherwise you risk drifting into disrepair, tiredness, and lack of appeal.

The menu is prix fix, and they have some additional specials that carry an up-charge. Wines by the glass were good, I like that they have Flowers Chardonnay like they do at their beach club. The food was excellent. We enjoyed the Crab & Avocado Salad and the really nice Grilled Chicken Skewers. Then Pan Seared Halibut served with Pea Risotto and Grilled Lamb Chops, 4 double cut chops, with Brussel Sprouts... really good! A tray of assorted desserts was just ok, nothing particularly stood out. Suffered from plating and putting in a fridge to hold... and served too cold. Service was on a high level.
