For those who haven't heard of here, Marlene Dietrich was a star of stage and screen from the 1920s in Germany through to Hollywood and also had a great stage career. She was one of the few German actresses that attained international significance. Despite tempting offers by the Nazi regime, she emigrated to the USA and became an American citizen. In 2002, the city of Berlin posthumously made her an honorary citizen.
This little coffee shop named after her is one of those great little coffee shops with special coffee offerings, teas and of a course a fridge full of softdrink and beer. I enjoyed sitting in the sun on one of two outdoor benches and reading for most of an hour undisturbed. I love the way that blankets are provided for those who want to sit outside on a chilly day. Indoors, there are just a few tables but I could easily imagine that, if you live in the neighborhood, this would be your local. read more
