Can you believe this was gonna be demolished to be a freaking parking lot? LUCKILY, some good…read morecitizens of Walla Walla prevented this from happening, by saving the Kirkman House Museum and restoring it as a museum, to tell the story of the Kirkman Family. We visited the Kirkman House Museum, which was such a memorable part of our time in Walla Walla. Located downtown, it's an italianate-style, brick house that was built in the late 1800's, during when Walla Walla was the biggest city in the northwest! Designed and built by William Kirkman, he came to Walla Walla to make his fortune from the agricultural industry, becoming a well-established businessman in Walla Walla. The house later became an apartment building where they added on to it on the backside and another entrance, and then it was proposed to be demolished into a parking lot. Now, it serves as a museum, showcasing the Kirkman Family's lifestyle and contribution to Walla Walla, as well as the Adam West Library! In fact, that's how most of the museum gets visitors, for they come here to see Batman's corridors. Yes, the Batman/Adam West Library is really cool, especially because the bookcase slides and becomes a hidden wall where Batman slides down the pole! And it's awesome that the city of Walla Walla is so proud to have famous Walla Walla native, Adam West as their local hero, with memorabilia of his time in Batman and in Family Guy, in addition to his younger days at Lakeside School and so forth. (They even have an Adam West Day every year in town where everyone dresses up as Batman!) But I implore you to check out the other parts of the house, which I find more interesting. You get a real sense of what Walla Walla was like back in the day, based off the lifestyle of the Kirkman Family. There's even a room that shows old maps and pictures of what the city used to look like in the late 1800's when it was the most prosperous city in the area. The rooms are all decorated to that time period, and you can see some original furnishings that the family owned like the piano, photographs, decorative figurines, etc... Plus, Fanny Ann's room is haunted, so there's that. I hope for everyone to visit and support the Kirkman House Museum, which is a wonderful attraction site of this town. The non-profit that runs the museum is all volunteer-based. Admission is $7 and they do host fun events, like murder mystery dinners and Victorian tea time. A true charm to Walla Walla!

The Docent (Ms Priest?) was filled with wonderful insights and stories of the history of the Kirkmans and the community. The Batman exhibit was certainly good but the Kirkman story was mesmerizing. We have been to a ton of children's museums, and I feel like this one could be the example by which all other small towns design their children's museums! This appears to be an old house that was renovated to be a place for kids and families together. They have a lovely, large gathering room that looks to be for both arts and crafts as well as a central place for birthday parties. Throughout the remainder of the house are mini themed rooms that facilitate both running around and creative play. The place is awesome and works great for kids that are very young all the way to preteens! The rooms include a kitchen set up, a room focused on dental hygiene, a room with blocks, Lincoln logs and toys for smaller kiddos, as well as a room with a full climbing wall that lead to a small slide, a room with black lights and a wall with types with magnets on them that allow you to build tunnels for Boston go down. There's also a room with water and sand where the kids can build as well as a full outdoor set up complete with a small fire truck, a boatAnd a life-size TV. We came on a rather gloomy day in February When there were a good number of people here...and I have to imagine this place is absolutely crazy in the summertime! It was something like four dollars per kid to get in, and we spent a good two hours here exploring and playing. After spending some time here, we are absolutely in love with this place. It's not a fancy museum like you see in large cities, but it facilitates a lot of creativityIt was a great place for the kids to runoff some energy and explore a little bit. Next project, get one of these in our hometown!

None of them have had the number of lavender products to choose from as this cute little place! The owner was fun and very knowable! I came home with several new lavender products and the prices were good! You only have to take the very short drive off the main Hwy. You will not be disappointed!

Every seat in the house looks to be great, next time I will buy floor seats to confirm. Recycling, Upcycling,…read moreResurrection. Call me a fan. In 1892 (yes, 1892, son!!), the Walla Walla Gas Plant opened for business...not for art, but for amps, volts, and ohms. (well technically, it was a gas plant first, but then began to sing the body electric in 1905). :::: Fast-forward: 2011 :::: This is when this art decco powerhouse transformed to a stylish playhouse in the style of Shakespeare. This theater had been on my radar for the last couple of years, and my timing just never worked out for venturing down to the hills of wine and to make a visit to the theater....until Winter 2012. On a blustery cold evening, I needed to make a trip down to Walla Walla. I made myself go. I had to. NPR advertised about the Power House's production of "It's A Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play!", for weeks, and I was intrigued and pulled Walla Walla-ward. I was interested by the production, but I was also looking for an excuse to case the joint! ;) I love old theaters (especially if they've been renovated Gangnam Style...sorry, just wanted to say that phrase...not sure who reads these reviews all the way anyway!) ;) The renovation, I believe, is still a work in progress. I heard they are still working on the roof...and the audience & actors noticed this throughout the evening as the winds howled and banged on what seemed like only a tin roof. (A member of the staff came upstairs to the balcony and offered seats downstairs to us if we were too cold. I didn't mind, but some took him up on his offer---I wanted the full environmental experience! I wanted the chance to tell stories about way back in the olden days when I went to the Powerhouse to see a play, and how the roof almost blew off!) Other than the roof, the facility is top notch. (well, I think the roof adds character along with the expose brick, too). From the lobby, stage, seating, to restrooms, the facility is updated with modernity. And that's what I like. The duality of a renovated structure is attractive. I can't wait to come back for a Shakespearean or modern play. You'll find me looking for excuses to come here again, and again---look for me in the balcony!

AMBIANCE: 4.5. The presence of amusing art inside and outside creates a fun experience. We brought lunch and had it with our tasting outside on a nicely-shaded table. Gentle misters can be turned on to help keep one cool if needed. Toward the end of our tasting we met one of the winery owners, so were able to learn first-hand how decades earlier the family had established a foundry that cast pieces for artists from around the world, and had later expanded into wine-making. SERVICE: 5.0. Very attentive and considerate. Though we ended up not bringing our dog, they remembered that I had inquired (weeks earlier) if dogs were allowed and so had a doggy bowl of cold water waiting near our table. Thoughtful. WINE: 3.0. Good value for the $10 tasting fee, which is modest compared to the other places we visited. The Artisan blend was fun.

They have sitting areas to take in the views, vendors that sell refreshments and a beautiful gift shop where they sell candles, lotions and other great gifts. A beautiful experience.

It's a little strong so my husband asked to cut his with more ice water and they happily obliged. I enjoyed mine on a hot day. They have plenty of shaded seating. They also sell flowers and plants and wreaths. There is a gift shop with a small selection of lavender themed gifts. You can get a ton of beautiful photos- it's a magical place.
