This review is not for the instructors and the lessons that are over priced (by the way). This review pertains to Susana the owner who is extremely rude and bad mannered. Once in a group lesson she kicked my foot hard because I was not taking the right steps. Generally she comes across arrogant and disrespectful. I really enjoyed my lessons with the instructor but will not give my money to some one who has no respect for her customers. read more

I took scores of lessons here & was in a competition. Suzanne is the owner & is one of the most self-absorbed, manically toxic people I've ever met! If she is making a sales pitch for a $1,700-$3,000 lesson package, she is nice enough or, if someone is giving her money, she is pleasant enough. Otherwise, she speaks to people, especially other woman, surprisingly toxically, dropping F-bombs whenever possible. I requested my balance plus one private lesson, which she wasted, to be refunded. In total, I spent OVER $7000 in 4+ months on lesson packages. I made the request bc Suzanne started wasting expensive private lessons moving me (& others) around to the newest staff, despite me needing to practice for a Showcase Event. The obvious goal - me purchasing another $1700-$3,000 lesson package. She reacted by sending me text messages which are screenshot & now uploaded. My request for a refund is in blue. Her responses are in white. She is actually making her poor staff reimburse me. Versus, what a normal owner does - refund from the business acct. I cannot imagine anyone speaking to a client or, anyone this way, using totally & unnecessary personal insults. Complete with poor grammar. It is very juvenile. I will only miss my Instructor, Fabio! No wonder Suzanne has the bad reputation which she has amongst other studios and former clients who competed, of being "nasty." Nothing but great things to say about Fred Astaire in Herndon. My husband took me there for us to learn how to dance for our first dance at the wedding. Jared was our instructor for all of our lessons. He was patient, fun, and upbeat. We have never danced prior so his patience was needed with our 2 left feet... our photographer snapped the photo at our wedding that is attached to this review. We wanted to make sure Fred Astaire received the pic because it shows how far we have progressed all due to Jared. We received numerous compliments on our first dance and how much fun it looked and how elegant it was. Again, without the help of this dance studio, and especially Jared, we would have just swayed the whole time. Highly recommend . Everyone is genuinely warm, welcoming, and non-judgmental, which is a wonderful learning environment for total noobs. This is my partner's very-first-ever-in-life dance class experience, and Susannah (the studio's owner, teacher, and Pro dancer) has been AMAZING with us both (I identify female; my partner is male). Susannah successfully eased my partner's apprehensions by teaching in a FUN and easily absorbable, and approachable manner. Susannah is lovely, and her engaging personality makes each lesson pass by in a flash, and we're always looking forward to learning more the next time. We haven't had lessons with anyone else at this studio, but Kelly has been super welcoming, too, and Vlad and Jared have popped in here and there, and both have been great as well. This studio is a life saver. Highly recommend Rebecca based on how well she handled my request! My wife and I are dancing in a showcase this weekend back in Austin where we live. Work sent me out of town the two weeks leading up to the show. There goes the practice schedule. I contacted Michael at the Fred Astaire studio near work at noon to get two private lessons scheduled - they got me in THAT NIGHT and the next. Mostly I needed a practice partner who knows the Waltz Bronze syllabus. Rebecca just jumped right in and let me practice leading our routine. My fiancé and I got lucky when finding this amazing dance studio in preparations for our wedding. I knew this was the perfect place to have our "first dance" lessons when Susannah asked me over the phone if we wanted to be YouTube sensations or if we just wanted to survive. Of course I made us an appointment for a free lesson, which was so much fun and not at all awkward as I thought it would be. We were given several package options and were able to pick one that suited our needs and our budget. Each of our lesson lasted 45 minutes at roughly $85/session (worth every penny)! Their studio hours were also perfect for our work schedule because they had appointments as late as 8:15pm. We took dance lessons for our first dance at our wedding and had the BEST time. The lessons themselves were so enjoyable and to be honest beforehand we were not looking forward to them because we had no experience dancing. After the first lesson, Susannah made us feel so comfortable and we actually looked forward to our next dance lessons. We received so many compliments after our first dance, no one could believe what we had pulled off. We took 6 lessons with Susannah and can say that each one was worth it. I came across a groupon that was being offered for Fred Astaire Reston after watching Dancing with the Stars so I decided to try it out and I'm so glad that I did. This is a great studio!! I use it as my way to unwind after work. I'm learning to do all the ballroom dances including salsa, which is my favorite all while having a great time doing it. The staff makes you feel so comfortable and helped to relieve my first time jitters. Sevrin, my teacher, keeps me laughing the entire time...even when I'm stepping on his toes. We have been attending Fred Astaire at the Reston location for about one year now. We started going because my fiancé' always wanted to dance and I thought this would be a fun activity we could do together and enjoy dancing while attending functions. One of our biggest accomplishments is that Sevrin and Susannah choreographed our wedding dance, which we mastered in time for our special day. One of the most important things that matters to us is that the feeling of the Reston location is VERY PERSONABLE. Everybody from staff to students are always warm and welcoming. After a short period, it really felt like a family environment. They offer Friday night dance theme parties, Salsa group nights out at the local Salsa club, holiday parties, events, showcases and much more... There is no shortage of things to do... We have been going here for about 5 months for our wedding dance lessons. Our instructor, Nathan is simply the best as what he does. Neither of us came in with much dancing skills and by our last lesson, we are dancing with confidence and elegance. He is a pro at coming up with moves on the spot and knowing how to time those special moments in a dance, not to mention making us laugh throughout and have fun as we learned our steps. My (now) husband and I thought about dance lessons in preparation for our wedding and our first dance together. We knew we didn't want to do the simple sway back-and-forth bit for 3 minutes, so we checked out the Fred Astaire Dance Studio. Our first meeting was a "consultation" with Nate, which was essentially a free first lesson to show you what it's all about. We were incredibly surprised when the hour was up because we were having so much fun. We felt the same way after each class with Nate -- we never wanted it to end. Nate is an incredible instructor. He was so patient with us as we tried to pick up some trickier moves, and so flexible with our ever-changing and busy schedule. He kept it fun and interesting the whole time without any judgment. We felt comfortable and had such a great time. We couldn't have asked for a better experience with the dance studio or with Nate! Needless to say, our first dance blew everyone away! I joined the studio a few months ago and have had soooo much fun bringing back dancing into my life! The instructors are fantastic...fun and knowledgeable (and the owner is positively outrageous in a very FUN way). I'm now learning/fine-tuning the rumba, cha cha, salsa, hustle, etc. through hip, hands and body movements...such a sense of accomplishment and a great cardio workout "to boot"!
