On December 21, 2023, I left my beloved dog Ninja with Paul Huggins, whom my wife and I had used many times before with no problem. I noticed that he seemed to have an unusually large number of dogs when he opened the door; at least 10 and likely more based on the number that poured out when he opened the door and what I could still hear inside. In fact, while I was there, a dog about Ninja's size jumped up and was wriggling through the gaps in the wrought iron fence on the front patio before Paul grabbed him and pulled him back. On Christmas eve, Paul called me to say that he could not find Ninja, and that the last time he saw him was the evening prior when Paul said he was on his front patio with many of the dogs. I asked Paul to get out and look for him, knock on doors and, if this went on a day, to print and post fliers. His answers were evasive and unreassuringly vague. He eventually said he did not have a working printer, nor did he know anyone who did. He was vague about what steps he took to find Ninja and insisted Ninja would "show up" on a neighbor's porch, and that this mystery neighbor would call animal control and they would find Ninja's chip, but that it would "be a few days" because of the holiday. With serious cold outside and a major rain coming, I was 1800 miles away, angry, and distraught. On Christmas morning, Paul called me and said that "they" had found Ninja's body about a mile and a half away, and that he had been killed by a car. You can imagine how I felt. Mike Cox, who identified himself as the owner, called me to get additional information. Being a former federal agent, I had records of all texts and phone logs, as well as notes from the phone calls. Mr. Cox, who was very nice, seemed concerned when I advised that Paul had so many dogs. He was empathetic, which I appreciated. He then went on to ask me if I noticed that Paul had been drinking. A curious question then as now. Mr. Cox paid for Ninja's remains to be honorably returned, which I also appreciated. As of two days ago, Paul Huggins is still taking in pets according to a text from Mike. I mean, WTF!? Clearly, the man was negligent in allowing my beloved Ninja to escape and be killed, and I put the blame 100% on him and Petz Pack for allowing this. I am sure Mr. Cox knows how many pets Paul Huggins had, and whether it violated their company policy. I will leave it to the reader to ask why the owner (Mike) inquired of me if I noticed that Paul Huggins had been drinking. So that's my story. Petz Pack seemed like a great place. Until it didn't. They caused the death of my baby. My compensation from them for all this? Zero. Choose carefully when you decide where to leave your fur baby. If you choose Petz Pack, you might never see your dog again until he is returned to you in a wooden box.

After reading reviews for pretty much every dog trainer in Huntsville, I reached out to Bite Ranch K9 and Alan got back to me asap. After we spoke at length on the phone, he invited me to come out to the Sunday dog sport club and if I liked what I saw, I was more than welcome to send my puppy into their 2 week Board and Train program. It's been a little over 2 weeks since our initial conversation and I went back today to pick up my puppy. Although you really can't expect a whole lot from a 13 week old puppy with the attention span of a fly, I was incredibly impressed with what Alan had accomplished with my puppy in such a short span of time. As a new handler of a dog destined to be a working k9 in some capacity, it's difficult to put your trust and money into a trainer you don't really know. I don't even know what I expected, to be honest...but I received more than I did think I would. I drove home today with a puppy who has far more focus, engagement, drive, and sass than she did 2 weeks ago. I feel like Alan set my puppy and I on the right path, and I so look forward to what she and I will accomplish now that a foundation has been set for us. Everyone I've met at Bite Ranch k9 has been so friendly, knowledgeable, welcoming, professional and so understanding. I highly recommend both Alan and Nick as dog trainers. Whether you have a dog you want to become the perfect family pet or you have a high drive beast of a canine you're looking to get into sports with, they're your trainers. Every dog has different needs when it comes to training and they truly understand that and will do everything they can to honor what your dog as an individual needs.

My friends and family have been appalled by the amount of money we paid to have our dog "trained" please don't fall for The promises of this business. I feel completely taken advantage of. I tried to work with owners to receive actual training, a partial refund etc instead I was met with hostility. I have a baby coming in 3 weeks and I'm out $3,500 and have a dog that has not changed at all. Using a shock collar to correct bad behavior and watching the dog all day is not the dog being trained.I have screen shots from the owner which I'm happy to post in the comments I really don't want anyone else to get taken advantage of!
