Been a member over 4 years and it has been the best decision we have made. Our two daughters look forward when they come down from the snowy north to get on a boat to cruise, fish or swim. I love to fish and St Augustine has the best fleet for whatever you want to tackle. Flats boats in shallow creeks, deck boats for the intercoastal and Off shore boats for the Big fish and the cruising boats to take the family out. I could count on one hand of any discrepancies (wells not cleaned, trash) the boats are clean, no rips or tears in seats and the boats are replaced on a pretty regular basis as they get old (try that to buy a new boat every couple of years). I never piloted a boat till I joined the club and the club provided the safety and inshore and off shore training. Anytime you did not feel safe you could ask for more help. The boats are equipped with dept/fishfinders on the inshore boats and GPS/depth/fishfinder on the offshore boats plus all the safety equipment you need for a emergency (life vests, radio, and a pinging device). The deck hands have always had my boat waiting when I get there and meet me at the dock on return. They have a outstanding team of people working there, and I am sure its the same at the Julington Creek location. If anyone ever has a question about the club I would be glad to assist in any way and I am not affiliated with the club, just a happy member. Did not even touch about the deck parties and other functions part of the club, but trying my best to keep this short. Growing up around and owning boats for years, I was very skeptical about joining a boat club for fear that I would lose the freedom to go out whenever I wanted. However, with three children and a busy work life, I dreaded spending any more time cleaning and maintaining a boat and paying all of the extra expenses that constantly popped up. It only took spending an hour with George and testimonials from a few members to help me decide to join, and I could not be happier with my decision. My family and I have been members for just over a month and have been out almost every weekend. The boat selection is great and fit every need and want. I really like the reservations system, and so far I've been able to get a boat every time we wanted to go out. The staff at both Julington Creek and Commanchee Cove are incredible. They provide first class customer service. Every time we've come back from a day of boating I've told my wife "I'm just glad I don't have to clean and put away anything when we get home!" Even though I have grown up around the water and enjoyed surfing scuba diving etc. my family never got into owning a boat. The hassle factor and expense were turn offs to me as well. I would see friends who would get boats and use them a lot initially then gradually stop going out and the boat would just sit by the side of the house or at the storage place. Although you are not purchasing an ownership interest in the boats - when I saw this concept it struck a similar chord with me as a timeshare. I like the online reservation system so you can see what's available at anytime and know for sure which boat you are reserving. I am a new member and have been trying to go out every Friday and Sat for the past few weeks. Probably have been out 6 or 7 times. Each time everything has been fine and the dock managers have been great. I have been really happy thus far w/my decision to join and based on the feedback of the friends and family I have been taking out they have really been appreciative and enjoying it as well. I do think this is a very good way for newbies like us to get introduced to boating and can see I will probably have 100% ROI on my initial outlay of funds after the first year based on renting a boat a $200 a pop. THE BEST....THE BEST....THE BEST!!! I am a long-time member of the FBC, and I I have visited many FBC locations around the country all of which are wonderful. But NOBODY does it quite like the team in St. Augustine (and Jacksonville). Our club's fleet of boats are immaculate. It doesn't matter if you want to take out a deck boat, a pontoon boat, a small inshore fishing boat or an offshore boat....They are always ready to go, super clean and equipped with everything you can imagine. The fleets in St. Augustine and Jacksonville are so large that you never have to worry about availability. But at the end of the day it not the boats that make the club an awesome experience....it is the people. EVERY member of the staff is great. The owners Lisa and Kevin will do anything to ensure their members have a great time each and every time they go out on the water. The knowledge and training that you can gain from Captain Frank alone is worth the cost of membership. Every member of the office and dock staff go out of their way to help and always greet you with a smile. On a scale from 1-10 for customer service.... FBC of St. Aug&Jax is a 1,000!!!!! read more

Best Decision I ever made. I could not be more pleased with my decision to join. I was going to buy a boat and spend about $40,000 or more. I kept looking at boats and thinking what boat would be best. We love to fish, cruise, take the kids out on a tube. This was the only answer. I was a little hesitant, but once I talked to Bill and Frank, it was a no brainer. No more hauling, no more cleaning, no more servicing, getting gas, being next in line at the ramp while someone decides to load their stuff in for the next 20 minutes. You don't even have to pick up ice on the way. Here is how my mornings go : Get out of the car, get into the boat, drive away. That's it, I swear its the best thing I ever did. Frank is a great instructor and Bill was a great salesman. I have also mention Chloe in Julington Creek. You want to go out to 9 mile and catch snapper or grouper, do it. You want to take the boat to one of the inter-coastal beaches for a picnic, go. Go tubing or knee boarding, what are you waiting for. You get to do it all. There is too much to say about how amazing FBC is. Truly it feels like I live some luxurious life where I own a fleet of boats and have a full time staff that cares for them for me. The ease of boating with FBC is beyond comparison. Anyone who's owned a boat or knows someone who has knows just how much it entails to simply get the boat in and out of the water. From prepping, cleaning, fueling, driving to the ramp, etc. plus the ongoing maintenance and repairs, it makes boating more of a chore than a fun experience. But FBC eliminates all that hassle. Show up, load up, go. That's it. No prep work, no cleaning, no maintenance, no repairs, no hassle, just fun. The best part is the variety of boats available, from inshore and offshore fishing boats, deck boats, pontoons, and ski boats, there is always a boat that fits my needs ready and waiting. Having someone else clean up after me makes it all the better too. For about the price of a used john boat upfront and about the same monthly cost as storing one boat at a marina we have access to a fleet of over 40 in north Florida and another 1000 nationwide. read more

I would highly recommend Freedom Boat Club to anyone that loves the water but hates the hassle. The guys at the dock do a super job in keeping the boats in tip top mechanical condition and thoroughly cleaned. Special shout out to my best buddy Walter. I love to fish (and occasionally catch) so the abundance of boat types is killer. I can go offshore, in the bay or totally skinny. The trolling motors are welcome addition and used often. With the number of boats in our fleet availability is rarely if ever an issue....woo-hoo! PS the addition of the flow meters mean we dont have to wait for gas-up or worry about accuracy at the pump. Plenty of power in the motor but no gas guzzling worries either. I love Freedom!!! read more

After owing 8 boats over 25 years I sold my boat and joined Freedom Boat Club 8 years ago. The original franchisee had a few issues and had his franchise taken away. The parent company assumed the local club and worked out all the issues. It has been fair winds and following seas ever since!! Lisa and Kevin are true professionals. The boats are kept in perfect condition and always newer models. The reservation system works great. I have used boats in multiple other Freedom Boat Club locations.. I love that ability! I dreamed of boating for the last five years, every time I drove past the Julington Creek Marina. My husband and I finally joined the Freedom Boat Club in July and my dream became a reality. I was brand new to boating and Captain Frank was an amazing teacher! After his class, I felt confident about handling a boat on the open water! Since becoming members of the Freedom Boat Club family, we have thoroughly enjoyed our time on the waterways here in NE Florida. It is as hassle free as you can get. Scheduling an outing is simple and stress free. Add in a staff that goes out of their way to assist and accommodate our needs, this option has proven to be the best choice for us. Austin at the St. Augustine location is first rate. Boats are always clean and ready to go. Same goes for Julington Creek. The boat selection at both locations is excellent. The reservation system is user friendly; never a problem getting what I want. Fishing boats are well equipped with trolling motors, gps charts, radios, live wells, and rod storage. The Yahama outboards are very efficient. I have previously owned boats , not anymore. With 30+ boats to use, membership in Freedon Boat Club is a no-brainer. read more

I have been a member for 2 years, and I am very happy. I think the club gets better and better. The boats run great, there is plenty of variety, and the locations are perfect. Love Freedom Boat Club of JAX/St. Aug. Been a member for 8 months and out on the water 20 times. Last time, my 6 year old son's sunglasses fell of his head into the water while docking the boat. Dock hand Jesse sprung into action reached into the water as they were sinking. While saving the sunglasses, Jesse fell into the water. My son was so happy that he saved his favorite sunglasses and we were very thankful for Jesse's effort. read more

We joined last month. I have already taken 7 boats out of Camachee Cove. We are loving it. We have our first trip out of Julington scheduled for Labor Day. Having just purchased a house in Vilano Beach, we knew we wanted a boat. My husband ans son travel a lot so my daughter-in-law and I learned to drive the boat.
