This might be one of my favorite beaches in FL! I live in Fort Lauderdale where the beaches are pretty, but way too crowded. We stayed right near this beach, so we visited at various times over the court of a few days. Our lodging was about half a mile south of the pier. The beach was pet friendly in the section that we were in. It's nice to be able to take your dog for a stroll here and I spotted plenty of others too. I really liked how the beach had sizable sand dunes, well big ones for FL. ;) I enjoy beaches where you don't see as many signs of civilization. This beach reminded me a lot of the less populated sections of the Outer Banks in NC, which is one of my favorite spots by the sea. This was a peaceful and serene spot. The sand is nice for a long stroll too!

Love St Aug Beach, not much for shelling but gorgeous sunrises. Peace and tranquility are A+. My east coast beach of choice.

St. Augustine Beach is absolutely stunning! It is so much different from our beaches on the gulf coast. The sand has a better surface for running on (and I did run on the beach! It was glorious). The water was nice and cool. The beach was clean. It had some small shells, but not many. It was mostly free of seaweed and great for swimming. There are also more waves on the east coast of Florida than on the west coast. I expected them to be bigger than they were. However, once I was in the water I realized that they were mightier than they appeared. Some of those waves can knock you over! I may have swallowed a lot of salt on the day I was here. The waves were a lot of fun. We did get attacked by some bugs floating in the ocean as the sun set. I would recommend watching that from somewhere else. On this coast, the sunrise is more predominant anyhow. There is a pier on the beach that has some incredible views. It also is popular with fisherman. We came back and watched the sunrise on the pier the next day. It looks like there is normally a charge, but not if you are there early enough. It was no charge at 6am on the day we used it. The view was incredible. You can see the Lighthouse lit up from the pier too. We loved the beach in St. Augustine and we will definitely visit it the next time we are in town.

Always gorgeous. I love this place. The beaches are so clean. I love how you can drive an AWD or 4x4 vehicle onto the beach.. well.. I can't. I have a little Civic Si... though makes me want to have a truck or something on the side lol! The people are always friendly, it's not some party beach - it's really calm and peaceful. And if you're lucky, someone with their cute pup will walk by and you can give 'em a good pet behind the ear! Will always come here when I can.

    Taking in all this beauty.

I loved, loved, loved my beach day at St. Augustine's Beach!!! We parked a block away from the beach at a free of charge, public parking and walked to the beach. The sand was warm and beautiful. It was early in the morning and we had plenty of spots to claim. We settled down close to the lifeguard tower where my boys began to build sandcastles and burry each other in the sand. The weather was perfect, the water was amazing and the view was ridiculously beautiful. We had the best day!

I went with my family right before Christmas. The beach was empty so this review may be limited in application for the summer months. However, the beach was gorgeous and extremely clean. There was some parking albeit limited right by the beach. The beach was huge went on forever and was beautiful. I cannot wait to try go to it again when it's warm.

I have loved Saint Augustine and it's beaches since I was a little girl. Since then, I have introduced my husband to the area and then my kids. I have been a frequent visitor for years and am never disappointed by its beauty and history.

A really nice place to go to. The sand is super hard and the water is dark green. It was cold in early November. We parked by the Pier for free. There's taps and hoses to clean the sand off of you after you are done with the beach.

Amazing. Beautiful flat beach to walk, jog, bike, and swim as far as the eye can see and beyond! Water is calm and warm with inviting small waves to catch a sweet lil ride. The beauty of it is.. Everything .. And, that it's incredibly Tranquil and somewhat deserted. One of the big highlights... On a weekday moonless summer nite - we helped the baby turtles make their way to the ocean... Tres cool!

Spent time in St. Augustine. Loved this beach much more than I liked St. Augustine itself.

Saturday late afternoon, we enjoyed a beach that was nearly empty & very tranquil.

A little confusing that this is listed both on Yelp and on Apple Maps as "Saint Augustine Beach…read morePier" because the sign at the location says "The St. John's County Ocean & Fishing Pier." It's $2 to walk out on the pier ("Sightseeing", per the sign) but it's worth it. It's a beautiful view! Today was incredibly windy - so bad that I had trouble holding my binoculars in place while looking for birds. But I was able to log 9 bird species while there, just watching them fly by and/or on the beach. There are benches for sitting, but they did have the end of the pier blocked off. See other reviewers for speculation on why. There's also a pretty popular Farmer's Market that sets up every Wednesday in the parking lot in front of the pier. It's popular enough that we witnessed traffic bottleneck there, so be mindful of that.

If you love fishing, this is easily one of the best spots in St. Augustine! I visited this week…read morewhile on vacation, and since the weather was a bit cold the first few days, I decided to try fishing off the pier. I ended up loving it so much that I came back every single day. The staff in the shop are incredibly kind and welcoming--they really make the whole experience even more enjoyable and get you excited about fishing. One of the best parts is that you can rent fishing poles for the day, which is perfect if you're traveling and didn't bring your own gear. They also sell bait in the shop, so you don't have to worry if you run out.
