The quote also did not say whether it included a backsplash or without a backsplash no details whatsoever except the price of 8500+ for a small kitchen. They should know who they're sending these to and review them before sending quotes out. I don't I'm paying a little more for things but 2 1/2 times the price is absurd.

As with any construction project, not everything went perfectly. Carla stepped in as our advocate with suppliers, always exhibiting grace under pressure to ensure delays were minimized. Her mantra is, "There is always a solution!" Then there is the "above and beyond" aspect of working with Gemini Design Group. Carla noticed the step from the kitchen into the garage was too high thus a bit dangerous. It had always been that way so over 20 years we had become used to it. Turning everything over to someone else was not an easy decision. However, it worked out far better than we had ever envisioned. After getting five quotes, and speaking with five contractors, we chose Steve Hopps and "Old School." Steve showed genuine interest in making our kitchen beautiful and unique. While not the least or most expensive, Steve seemed to offer something none of the other contractors offered: professional craftsmanship and a concern to get it exactly as we dreamed it would be. Our choice proved to be perfect. In every step of the way, Steve was on target. When unforeseen issues turned up, Steve suggested solutions that were right on target. He worked closely with out cabinet company, the electrician, plumber, and flooring people. He also had a hand in all of these aspects to keep the work flowing smoothly. He worked quickly and efficiently. He explained what he was doing, and his workmanship is not just professional, but the work of a true craftsman. When tiling the backsplash, he even rotated tiles placing some in the best place for a better look and flow. Only an artist, a person with a deep love of perfection would do this. Steve Hopps did all of this for us. I would highly recommend Old World Remodeling to any one. Quality, affordability, craftsmanship, personability, and results are all 10s. He also quoted us the job would take one day plus a second day to add cement footers. For some reason the two days turned into five and we were also charged more for labor than quoted. We had a small basement door replaced by MRH and they did a great job. We had a wooden door that was very broken down. They rebuilt the frame and ordered a custom steel door which fit perfectly. They installed it all in one day and left the area clean. Would definitely recommend - great quality, price and commutation throughout the whole process. read more

Simon, the owner, came to the house, met with me to discuss general ideas of what I wanted, and soon sent me a proposal which I found to be fair. Having constructed about 50 fireplaces, he has superb design and construction skills and knew exactly what to do; he thinks 10 steps ahead, which helps to avoid problems later on. Throughout the construction process, he gave me options and the pros/cons of each to consider. Simon handled all of the permitting with the township and was on-site to meet every inspector and sub-contractor. In short, he, Victor and his team turned an ugly wall into what is now the focal point of my house. They were a pleasure to work with: completely reliable, on-time, honest, professional and super-clean. They set up a Zip-wall to keep the rest of the house dust-free and worked outdoors under a pop-up tent; in short, they were EXTREMELY clean and considerate throughout the entire process. As a homeowner, I'm fairly competent with basic home maintenance and repair - but a fireplace installation required specialized knowledge and Simon has it.
