If you have someone who is in need of help anytime soon, DO NOT take them here. Try calling them, you will never talk to a human and they will take their sweat time getting back to you after you leave a message. My daughter's psychiatric treatment was to go for three weeks and basically give an update of the effects of her medication and that's it. After that her psychiatrist went on vacation for three weeks, daughter went again once, same question and was told to come back in a month. When I tried to get her psychiatrist switched it took several phone messages and one irate message to have the Over worked/over whelmed Founder/Executive Director call me back and then never flow up. I sent more e-mails (nice ones) and still no response. When you are a psychiatric institution with the goal of helping people with depression and anxiety. A total lack of urgency, an unreachable staff and leadership that does not follow though effects the people who have entrusted their care to you and their families. As a group that has been so called caring for depressed people for so long it astounds me that you cannot see the impact of poor patient management can have. read more

I am really concerned as a mental health patient that no one is regulating the ethics of this place. It comes off as a charity but it's actually a professional service that weeds you out if you have no insurance without any live consultation. It's purposely misleading and judging from the numerous poor reviews their is something amiss here. read more

Freedom From Fear was the "WORST" place I have ever been to. I took my 16 year old daughter there and had nothing but problems with the so called director, Mary Guardino. She tries to be helpful at first, but don't make her fool you. All she wants to give your child is medication. Not to mention she discusses your personal information with other patients. Which is not only not professional, but against any HIPPA law. She has no degree and calls herself the director. The therapists, psychiatrists, and other staff members are afraid of her. Once you take one look at her you will know why. She even looks scary. Don't know how she made it this far. She made my daughter feel really uncomfortable every time she was there. Which by the way is all the time, because she is "always" sticking her nose into the personal records of the physicians. Also, if you leave a message or email the therapist, or other staff members, Mary is the one who will call you back. It's like she has them under her spell. She even spoke to a girl my daughter went to school with about my daughters situation and she was also a patient. This made both girls feel very uncomfortable. I was so tempted to file a complaint but she is not worth my time. Please do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from Freedom From Fear if you want to fix your problems, because Mary Guardino will add to those problems. read more

My son saw Dr. El Gamal at freedom from fear. He developed a relationship with her. She was supposed to get in touch with a doctor to finalize his home instruction. She took her time doing it and he suffered for a whole month with out it. I tried to contact her myself using her cell number on the form and tried to contact her business. I just wanted to leave a message for her to call the home instruction doctor. Well she took it as I harassed her and dropped my son from her case. He was without a doctor to help him. He suffers from anxiety/depression. When I talked to the establishments owner Mary, she sided with the the doctor instead of setting up a meeting with us to discuss how the doctor felt. So my son was dropped from the whole establishment. I tried to explain to Mary and the doctor that I was not at all trying to harass her but if she just would have given me a response in the beginning that she knew she had to contact the home instruction doctor, none of this would haven happened. So if you are thinking about seeking help from freedom from fear, please rethink it. My son now has to go through the trouble of starting all over with another doctor and it really sucks. His anxiety is hard enough with someone he knows. They are supposed to show empathy, and professionalism, and they did not. This situation could have been handled with a simple meeting with myself and Dr. El Gamal, but instead she just dropped him. All because as a mom with an anxious child I went to the ends of the earth to get him his education. Sorry folks, but doctors of all people should understand. read more

They should really change the title of there business because they made ME feel FEARFUL. I have suffered from both anxiety and depression since I was 21 years old. I really wanted to get off medication and thought this place would be a great start to help me accomplish that. Boy was I wrong! As soon as I entered the woman who runs and own this place was extremely rude and condescending. She had her student intern there running around like a minion and spoke to her in a demeaning manor. Every time I asked her about her experience she told me to "Check her credentials" and waved a pamphlet practically in my face. After this went on for 5 minutes my anxiety started to escalate in the room. I began to feel more anxious than I did when walking in. She told me that she would be unable to assist me because I was on medication for anxiety. She made me feel horrible about myself basically made me feel like a drug addict. I cried when I got in the car to leave. I have never met someone that made me feel so HORRIBLE about myself and my anxiety. Do not go to this place unless you want to be scolded. She should be OUT OF BUSINESS. read more
