Little Italy is still one of my fave neighborhoods in NYC. Sure, it's touristy, populated by…read moreoverpriced restos (some very good and some very meh), souvenir shops, street hawkers selling stuff, etc. Yet, it's still iconic, has it's own charm, and is a nice place to enjoy some Italian heritage, have a meal, some drinks, embellish in some pastries and cannoli, walk the streets with a cigar, and check out the historic buildings and church. Love it on a nice night when it's all lit up and the restaurants have staff chatting you up to come eat there. Oh, and the annual San Gennaro Feast is epic and a must to experience. Sure, its super annoyingly crowded but its also a lot of fun and you won't go home hungry.

It's a tiny, high-energy, nostalgic pocket with banners, old-school brick tenements with fire escapes, and century-old storefronts with some iconic spots (Ferrara Bakery, since 1892) and a killer festival, but expect overpriced, mediocre tourist fare, tacky souvenirs, and street hawks in the dinner hour. You can tell you're in one of the tourist-trappiest of all the neighborhoods when you get corralled by a dozen people holding menus. They may as well call the area "Table for two?" But, still, it has it's charm. So letsa go!

Best place to take the photo is from the median. I tried a selfie but it didn't look quite right. I look over and a gentleman with a professional camera was taking a photo of the mural. He was kind enough to take a picture of me with the mural. Godsend! This artwork was done by a Japanese artist. Very cool detail! Worth the stop!

Coney Art Walls are such a cool thing among all the craziness. It gets overlooked. The food and…read morerides attract people. Best thing about these are they're free. You can also find some food trucks. Along Stillwell you'll find these right beside Nathan's Famous. It mostly is around the main gates. The walls seem to be painted by local artists, with many panels having some kind of Coney Island theme. Not all of them do. On some are wacky depictions of famous cartoon characters, or another pop culture reference. The panels are very creative and you can spend awhile looking at these Currently there's more than 30 panels. The panels are attached to fencing so it's not really like a wall. It thankfully does not cost anything. Luna Park admission is not required to get to it. This can be visited any time of the year.

Park Slope Neighborhood consists of upscale amenities, with diverse activity options within. I absolutely loved my short stay in this neighborhood where I attended a local event, and also adored the brownstone architecture while out on my jog to its beloved Prospect Park; It was a jog that I must say was a workout of its own due to the climb! Lord have mercy, tehehe. There are plentiful sights, activities, and restaurants within the Park Slope Neighborhood. Some that I experienced and noted were Old Stone House, Prospect Park, Barclays Center, Brooklyn Museum, Obama's Former Park Slope Brownstone, Brooklyn Superhero Supply Store, and Gowanus Canal. With its casual but trendy dining scene, hip nightlife, access to public transit, safety, and a creative and art hub, I can see why it was ranked in New York Magazine as one of New York City's most desirable neighborhoods. And if you go down on someone here, it's Park Slurp. Pork Slope is a hill full of pigs. Perk Slope is an incline on which you redeem your rewards points. Pr**k Slope is an area full of people with bad attitudes. But this is none of those places. What an absolutely spectacular neighbourhood which is very bourgeoisie but very amazing to walk through. One of the safest parts of Brooklyn and also one of the trendiest - but also one of the most family-friendly. So many Brownstones, so many great places to shop and eat and drink, and I just absolutely love this area. One of my favorite spots around here is the Mr. Wish location here in Park Slope which is one of the better locations of this excellent Boba chain. Luigi's Pizza is here too, same street, right on 5th, and may be the best slice of Fresh Mozz you'll have in NYC, but definitely the best in Broke-lyn, so named because it's expensive AF these days. And don't go to nearby Prank Slope. It's just a bunch of people playing pratical jokes on each other.

Titled "The Cube" or "Alamo", this 15 foot tall, 2400 pound rotating cube was the first contemporary sculpture purchased by the City of New York, and also the first sculpture that artist Tony Rosenthal created as a public art piece not commissioned by an architect. Interesting enough, this cube was originally supposed to be installed in Ann Arbor, where the University of Michigan is located and from where Rosenthal was an alumnus, however Cooper Union students petitioned to keep the sculpture in NYC. So he created a second one installed in 1968 in Michigan and commissioned by the U of M Class of 1965, officially titled "Endover." Fun fact: in total there are not only two--but actually three versions of the rotating cube, one in New York, one in Ann Arbor and another in Miami. This review is a long time coming:…read more A few years ago when I was living in the LES, I noticed these eyesores that were the construction containers for the Houston Restoration Project. Then one day I happened by, and they were no longer those drab, depressing, steel tombs- they were turned into long, cubic works of art. Each side of the container was now adorned with a vibrant image. Upon further investigation, I learned that it was due to the newly created Centre-fuge Public Art Project Centre-fuge was the brainchild a few other local LES residents, who too were tired of the eyesores. They turned the boring containers into a rotating street art gallery, that initially featured local artists. Now, going into its 5th year (and its 20th cycle), Centre-fuge has expanded not only further into the East Village at the First street Green Art Park, but into Brooklyn/outer boroughs, as well as down to Miami. The cycles rotate every 3 months, when they buff the containers and invite new artists, now from around the globe. Anyone can actually submit to be considered to cover a portion of a container/wall, via their website. Centre-fuge is a great project that not only beautifies neighborhoods, but brings together communities. If you're into street art/graffiti, be sure to head to LES to check out the project. While you're there, mosey over to the Bowery wall at Bowery/Houston for another rotating mural. Then head down to Little Italy, for the L.I.S.A Project.
