    a platter of seafood

WOW! I called Freeman's because I wanted to do "raw bar" for me and 3 others but didn't know where to start. They helped me figure out what to order and how to order for the amount of people I wanted to feed. I set a pickup day and time and when I arrived today they were putting on the finishing touches, talk about fresh! They put everything on a beautiful platter and my guests were so impressed (and so were the people waiting in line outside Freeman's as I walked out with it!) On top of all that the staff were incredibly friendly and the quality was amazing. I will definitely continue to order from there!

This place is very, very, very, very expensive. More expensive than Whole Foods. I mean, I am not a seafood conneseuer but I know seafood that tastes bad and I know seafood that tastes good and great. This seafood was great. Awesome. But unless you are the super rich, like most of the residents in this uber affluent town (not me) or just have some extra cash from your recent pick 3 Lotto win (me), you cannot afford the seafood in this place. So yes, the fish was amazing but I just cannot get over the sticker shock. Customer service was top notch. The seafood salad was incredible. Salmon was phenomenal. Prices were out of this world. But hey, rich suburbanites have always needed that consumer experience that screams " I am so much better and richer than you!" This place pacifies their not so subtle arrogance to a tee. Swordfish steaks @ $28.00 a pound. That's $4.00 more than Whole Foods!!

Outstanding! Got the Salmon with a Bourbon glaze and a lb of Cole slaw. Killer! Pricey but well worth it.

I've heard nothing but great things about Barth's Market, and I finally had the chance to check it…read moreout for myself. I'm so glad I did! Barth's is a family-run business, not a huge supermarket, which is part of its charm. The atmosphere has that welcoming, old-fashioned neighborhood market feel. Everything is clean, neatly displayed, well organized, and easy to find as you walk around. Even with such a large variety packed into the market, it doesn't feel overwhelming, and it's easy to browse and see everything they have to offer. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. They're extremely knowledgeable about their meats and are happy to offer cooking recommendations and even recipes if you're not sure how to prepare something. The meat selection is incredible. As I walked around, I saw beautiful steaks, chops, burgers, Italian and Polish sausages, chicken and veal cutlets, German cold cuts, homemade bratwurst, hot dogs, kielbasa, and a variety of wursts. They also carry organic whole chickens and chicken parts, along with homemade chicken patties and chicken sausages. If you enjoy German foods, Barth's has a nice selection of dried spaetzle and other German-style noodles, along with Kabanos and other specialty items. They also have a fresh fish department. What really surprised me was how much more they offer besides meat. You can pick up homemade prepared foods and entrées, locally sourced fresh breads, milk, eggs, dairy products, drinks, fresh vegetables, salads, condiments, and plenty of other items to put together an entire meal. I bought steaks, Italian sausage, kielbasa, bread, and Kabanos sausage, and everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. The quality of the meats at Barth's is truly outstanding, and you can tell they take pride in what they sell. There's a free parking lot attached to the building, which is very convenient along with a couple of handicapped spaces, and they even have some outdoor seating if you want to grab a sandwich or something to eat and enjoy it outside. I can definitely see why I've heard so many good things about Barth's. Great quality, knowledgeable and friendly service, a welcoming atmosphere, and an impressive selection. I highly recommend checking them out. I'll definitely be back!

The box contained a mixture of sizes, with several crabs being noticeably smaller than what we ordered and paid for. I completely understand that crabs can vary somewhat in size, but there is a difference between a few variations and ordering large male crabs and receiving a box with so many smaller crabs. If I wanted mixed-size crabs, that's what I would have ordered. I actually called to address the issue, and I was told to bring the crabs back. The problem is that this was purchased for our last girls' night of the summer. My best friend, my cousin, and I split the half bushel between us, and we do not live in the same city, so bringing the entire order back was simply not realistic. I wasn't expecting special treatment--I just expected to receive what I paid for. Once we realized the size of the crabs, it was extremely disappointing, especially because this was supposed to be a fun evening together. The picture speaks for itself. We paid for large male crabs, and I don't feel like that is what we received. I'm leaving this review because customers should be able to trust that when they pay for a specific size, that is what they're going to receive. Please check your order carefully before leaving, especially when ordering by size. Unfortunately, after this experience, I would not order from here again.

The issue is that the sandwiches sound delicious on the menu but the reality doesn't live up to my expectations. My husband order some spicy Mexican inspired fried catfish sandwich for himself and a fried scallop sandwich for me. The sandwiches presented well but both lacked flavor, salt & seasoning in general. Even the soups; one was supposed to be red lentils but looked mostly yellow lentil and again desperately needed salt for one and would have been improved with additional seasonings. Whoever made the manhattan clam chowder got the recipe correct. It was the only thing that was tasty without needing alteration. The owner is nice and after my first poor review offered to make me a replacement but I didn't take him up on the offer. If they only get it right while someone is watching over their shoulder, what's the point. It is NOT a cheap lunch so to be disappointed is a real bummer. Better to stick with the raw seafood items or some prepackaged items (hummus & great flatbreads).

Many people enjoy the interaction that we engage in at the post office, the gas station, the barber shop, the butcher, the fruit store, etc. Here there seems to be a very definite history of the great staff members moving on, sometimes with little or no notice, and it has impacted the comfort level for me, and for many of the people who also frequented the store. The product has been good, at times excellent, but the overall experience has been greatly diminished by some real nice people who were employed there leaving. I don't feel the same joy supporting a business that seems to have a pattern of upsetting what appears to be excellent employees, and this is by no means a negative statement on the new people who come in to replace the one's who leave. I sure the new ones are very nice too. It all just creates this sense of sadness and negativity about and towards the ownership and overall establishment. I guess in life some of us reach an age, or a point, where what we put in our body has to do with more than the food itself. It connects to the vibe, the humanity factor, the trust, etc. I have stopped going to Local 130 after the last person left, almost without exception.
