From the buyer perspective only - we came in here on a Friday night as we were looking to kill some time with friends. They have a really fun and pretty curated shop! They do a decent job of keeping the attire organized and having a good variety of fun and silly items and practical things like boots, coats, and the like. The pricing was a little on the high side but likely necessary to make the model work. I think it's a great option if you want to thrift or shop secondhand with a little less legwork than the large box thrifts while shopping local. read more

I had a very disappointing experience with FreeStyle Clothing Exchange in Reno. I sent in a bag of clothes and made it very clear that I wanted anything they didn't buy returned to me. They did the opposite and got rid of the clothes. When I called, one of the managers initially said they would make it right by increasing the cash they owed me for the clothes they did purchase, and told me to call back for the amount. But when I did, I was told they didn't need to do anything since I had "signed something" that allowed them to get rid of my items. This is not just poor communication. It's bad customer service. They went back on their word, didn't respect my instructions, and left me with no resolution. I will never go back. read more

My daughter and I were window shopping nearby when she noticed the sign for Freestyle Clothing Exchange. I don't know how we missed this place before but it was a great find for us! My daughter especially loves thrift shops because they are not only great for the environment but you can find well-made, sometimes vintage, clothing! We have missed Junkee's Virginia St. location so Freestyle was a really nice surprise! And we were happy to see the place doing well with lots of other customers when we were there! My daughter found a vintage wool skirt here that she loves! If you dig around, there are lots of well-made treasures to be found at good prices. Also, the young man behind the counter was delightful. He was as excited about the shop as we were! My daughter and I plan. to go back - not only to shop but, since they also buy clothing, to sell some things. BEDBUGS!!!! I got bedbugs from freestyle clothing exchange, I tried so many things on and I bought a pair of pants, they didn't give me a bag and I was staying at my in laws. So I put the pants in my luggage next to my PJs, well later on that night I put my PJs on and I woke up the next morning covered in bed bug bites. We checked the whole room. My husband and baby stayed with me in the bed and they didn't have any bites on them. So I was trying to figure out how I had them but nobody else did. And it hit me, I bought pants and tried a bunch of clothes on at freestyle clothing, which is a popular second hand clothing store in midtown that my friends were raving about. I'm now covered in these bites and am having to deep clean my whole car out after traveling to make sure they don't transfer into my house but I think it should be known because I wouldn't wish this on anyone. I'm miserable and itchy, they are even on the bottom of my feet making it painful to walk. I just want to put a warning out. I called the place and spoke to the manager who was really sweet, as well as I had a great interaction with the staff when I went there. The manager was really apologetic and kind of told me that's just the risk you take when buying second hand. I also learned that they don't wash their clothes when they receive them, it's an honor system so they ask the people to wash them before selling them to the store. I just wish I knew I wouldn't have tried clothes on, I probably wouldnt have gone in. read more

I like the set up in this recycle clothing store. I don't have to sort through all the racks myself. Racks are sorted by women and men. Then by shirts, jackets, pants, skirts and accessories. Then by size. And finally by color. It makes it SO much easy to just hit the sections I know will fit and what I'm looking for. There's so much to choose from and the store can be pretty packed. Yet not overwhelming. Staff has always been polite and nice when I have been in. Limited street parking. I always walk into the area, it's just easier. read more

My teenage daughter loved this place for thrifting. We easily found street parking nearby. The store is amazingly clean and organized. The employees are very friendly and helpful. There are racks and racks of clothes all organized by size and color. The prices were a bit on the pricier side but you could tell they are selective with their merchandise and had more trendy items for younger customers. They include a 3% Living Wage Surcharge in your purchase for their employees which I had never seen before but thought it was clever. read more

Service was bad, had an awful experience. went to use the fitting room and had to help my partner, she has a medical condition the gal watched us go in together. She waits until we get out to of the fitting room to tell us that it's only 1 person per room. I try to tell her that my partner needs assistance due to a medical condition. She cuts me off then says "well just for future reference still only 1 person per fitting room." It felt very condescending, accusatory and just a lack of empathy or understanding. Then she seemed to gravitate around us for the rest of our stay. leaving the manning of the fitting room shortly after we got out of it. which I found either pure coincidental or she genuinely thought we were trying to steal. Made my partner feel pretty uncomfortable. I didn't get her name, has short red hair, was wearing a light blue shirt on July 15th of our visit. We won't go back, but would like to share our experience. read more

Came in today, had to drive around the block a few times, no parking anywhere. I left my bags of clothing to sell in my car and went inside.... Guy with glasses said to go ahead and bring my stuff inside even though I told him I had a lot, he said it was fine. I grab my bags and come back in then a woman comes up to the counter and told me I had too much stuff and to come back in with the other half tomorrow. It was not that much clothing, the women over at Labels consignment boutique went through it all in less than 10 minutes. Pretty annoying to tell me to haul all my stuff in and then say something else. The guy who worked there just stood there and didn't say anything while she told me the opposite of what he said. It was my first time trying to sell here. I highly recommend just giving your clothes to your friends or donating to the shelter. This place is not worth anyones time. I won't be back to bring in any clothing and definitely not to shop. Total waste of time. read more

I found a cool little consignment shop today in Midtown Reno. Evidently, this place is pretty hot in the Sacramento are and has made it's way to Nevada which is a great thing for me, since I am trying to adapt a "one in, one out" type of mentality when it comes to shopping. I found this place just in time as yesterday I was clearing out my closet to make room for some clothes that actually fit me since my weight nowadays can fluctuate from being thick or thin. The salespeople there were very friendly and the shop is very clean, and clothes are organized by color and coordination. I like these old funky styles of my youth. Yes, I will probably be the 80 year old still dressed like I just came out of the 70's. Clothes may be a little more expensive than your thrift store, but you have to remember that these are clothes on consignment, and that it is a for profit business. They've got some name brand items. Men and women's clothes alike. Love the shopping music, which was upbeat and current. Good music to shop by! read more

One of my favorite Freestyle locations to visit. Every time I'm in town I stop in. The place is full of women's and men's new and used clothing, shoes, purses and jewelry. My daughter always finds a ton of great finds. The prices may be a tad high on some things but also have some GREAT funds and sale racks. read more

On Friday, Oct 3rd my sister and Dad went into the store to look around. A few minutes into their browsing, my dad was approached by an employee who said "ok, you've gotta go". My sister, confused, approached them and said "oh he's with me, he's just hanging out while I shop". At this point the employee raised his voice so the other shoppers could hear and said "you've gotta go too" and snatched the shirts from her hand. The employee then escorted both of them from the store to where my mom and I were waiting for them. When asked why they were being removed he mumbled something about there being thefts in the area recently. Now, my 70 year old dad was in a hoodie, Hokas, and Ray Bans - I'm not sure why this employee would assume he was stealing except for the fact that my father is of a darker complexion. My family was mortified and embarrassed. I've reached out to the store by email and phone for an apology and explanation from the employee and have yet to receive one. I'm looking for an answer as to why my father was publicly discriminated against in this store. read more

I was in this location and saw the sign and decided to stop in to see what they carry. Lots of clothes and shoes so I decided to browse the racks. I was quite surprised at the prices for used clothing and accessories. Many of these items can be purchased online or in local new clothing stores for the same price or less when on sale. Some of the big department stores have clearance racks of new clothes that are cheap and they get lower the longer they sit. If I pay $20 for a top it better be new. It is true most of the local thrift stores have hiked their prices but they have a larger variation in the cost. Here you get one thing and that is high priced used items. Now if you are looking for Vintage items you could luck out here. The store is organized well but I didn't find anything I liked in a price I was willing to pay. Another local shop, similar to this one, has a variety of prices so when I went there I walked out with four items, some new for under $12. I don't think it pays to take expensive items here to have them sell for you, it rarely pays off. read more

Thank goodness I had somewhere to be about 45 mins after coming here for my first time, otherwise I would have stayed forever! This thrift store is very well-organized, they have the clothes separated by gender, clothing type, size, and even color. So impressive! It makes the process of finding something at a thrift store so much easier. I found lots of great brand name items here like Patagonia, REI, Columbia, Eddie Bauer, North Face, etc. There's a lot of items to go through, but the good finds are definitely there. I hit the jackpot back in the jacket section! I'm assuming it's because we are entering spring, so people have been getting rid of some winter clothes. I ended up buying 6 different jackets/pullovers and the total was only $130! Such a good deal when they were all brand name items. Almost all the items I got look like they've been barely worn. I was stoked to find a Squaw Valley North Face jacket, merch with the old name/logo (instead of Palisades) is hard to come by; and this was only $17! My other favorite item is a vintage reversible Patagonia jacket that I plan to wear skiing, it was only $28. The girls working were super nice, they encouraged me to bring old clothes here that I want to get rid of since they do consignment. Parking can be a little tough here, but that is expected for any place in Midtown; it's easy to walk a couple of blocks to get here. This is honestly a slam dunk of a thrift store!!! I have yet to come here and leave empty handed. You definitely still have to dig, but there are always great finds! It is also an exchange so you can bring in your donation clothes here as well - I have yet to participate in bringing in clothes but that is certainly on my to do list! It is conveniently located right in midtown too so the only downside is you just have to find street parking. I would definitely recommend coming here though, it is my favorite thrift store in Reno. read more

Dishonest business who lies to their customers about the actual price of their clothing. There is a "service fee" on every item sold here, which they sneak onto the bill without telling you. Then they blame this "surcharge" on their employees. This is just a dishonest attempt at raising the actual price while still being able to lie about what the customer is going to pay. There is such a big range or prices, from high quality luxury items around $40-70 dollars,- trendy middle tier clothes with great quality materials all around $25-40 and super great quality basics for the everyday and even super cheap vintage around $13-20!! OMG!!! So EXCITED to see a FCE in Reno!!! I grew up in Sacramento so I frequented the Midtown, Roseville, and Auburn locations. Upon moving to Reno, I was forced to go to the other clothing exchanges in town since I didn't have any other choice. Those other clothing exchanges did not remotely compare to FCE so when I visit Sacramento I would try to stop at the midtown location. I have not sold any items at this location so that is yet to be determined. I purchased a few items today and they seem to be priced accordingly and all are in great condition! Moreover, this used clothing store does not smell like used socks--if y'all know what I mean LOL! Oh, and they also carry NEW items towards the front of the store. The clothes and shoes are organized by sizes AND color!!! I love that the racks are not crowded and I could easily look through each item without having to shove others. The staff were super friendly!!! They were courteous and very nice like they seem to enjoy their job. At least today, I did not come across any snooty attitude and hopefully never will. The manager, Hannah, was nice and shared a small conversation with me about my excitement for this location. My checkout was finished by a supervisor, Max, who was also pleasant. I can't wait to go back to this store to sell some items and see how their buying process is! It will be super awesome if it's the same as it is in Sacramento. SUPER STOKED!!! read more

I was in Freestyle Clothing Exchange on October 3rd. My dad kept me company inside while my mom and brother waited outside the store. I perused the store for about 15 minutes and I had two shirts in my hand to try on. All of a sudden I hear the manager yell "hey man, you gotta leave now". I look over to see who he is talking to and I'm shocked when I see that he's talking to dad. I run over and I say "I'm shopping and this is my 70 year old father". And he says "and you need to leave too" and grabs the shirts out of my hand. Dad and I turned around and the manager escorted us out of the store. Once we are outside of the manager accuses us of trying to steal. I cannot express how upset it makes me that anyone would speak to my Dad in this manner. It was extremely embarrassing and weeks later I am still shocked and upset by the interaction. It's obvious the manager is highly under-qualified and overwhelmed in his role. I believe his name was Nate, but I called the store to confirm and they said his name was Ramsey. He is a 5'3" middle-aged guy with light brown hair. Avoid this store at all costs! read more

Me and my bf were visiting from the Bay Area and I was soooo pleasantly surprised by this place! It's a Plato's closet/Buffalo exchange vibe more than a goodwill/Salvation Army bc I'm seeing a lot in the reviews that they're on the pricier side and that's to be expected lol. Employees were soooo nice and helpful! They also complimented my outfit which I thought was so sweet. they had so many cute pieces to pick from and it was so relaxing bc everything was separated by size and color. I went for the first time and wasn't impressed. The point of thrifting is to buy used items for a cheaper price. However, they sell things at $20 and up and it's not in good condition. It's obviously used clothing so it's really a shame and some of the items are from fast brands like forever 21, SHEIN etc. So my point is you can buy BRAND NEW items for the same price. They also rip off the brand tags and some of the clothing, maybe for that reason. I bought 5 items and it came out to over $100. Also, as people have said there is a 3% living wage charge that I had no knowledge of until I looked at my receipt. I won't be going back. read more

Not really thrifting. I found a small white t-shirt in there and it was $14. They add a surcharge at checkout which is kinda lame. Lots of pretty clothing and accessories but more on the pricey side. They also don't do store credit anymore. I used to love shopping here a couple years ago but the changes here aren't that great. I bought a Patagonia fleece here and it was missing a button snap, and they wouldn't discount it or even mention it on the tag. I dropped off a really nice Michael Kors crossbody bag and wallet and only got a few bucks for it. This place is so cheap with their cash exchanges. read more
