We emailed her our house information and with in 24 hours she got back to me with quotes. She took it a step further and compared what they offered VS the other guy and showed us how to save money and we ended up with a lower rate and a lower deductible. My problem with insurance in Florida is that every agency I have contacted includes the value of…read morethe land in the replacement value attitude of houses that are far inland. If the house was demolished by a cyclone or hurricane the likelihood that the water, sewer, meters in the ground, and the land would be left behind. A hurricane won't likely affect the well or underground pipes. So a house being rebuilt from the ground up should be insured for replacement of the structure after removal of the debris, if it is totaled. It should be the choice of the owner if the personal possessions inside are insured adequately and for how much. Some owners have priceless heirloom furnishings and others of us have old JC Penney's adequate and we know the values aren't worth insuring. Currently the land value is $65k for an unimproved lot so should be insured minus the cost of the improved lot.
