CONCERNS of Freeway Insurance Services America, LLC, or Freeway Insurance - Has anyone dealt with this issue? I am a lien holder on a vehicle that was insured by this company. The vehicle was insured by Freeway Insurance and was involved in an accident. The insurance company deemed the vehicle was a total loss. The underwriter (HILLCO General Agency, LLC - agency which specializes in writing Minimum Limits Personal Automobile Insurance and VENTURE General Agency, LLC - specializes in non-standard auto insurance) valued the vehicle at about 40% lower than the current market value based on a "private party value" instead of actual market value. Is that the normal process with these types of insurance companies? They then further cut the "private party value" by 50% because the vehicle had already been repaired from a previous accident. Is that standard practice or just an arbitrary reduction? Final payout is roughly 32% of market value best I can tell. It is not clear but does the insurance company charge reduced premiums/discount premiums for previous wrecked vehicle? Then maybe it makes sense but if they do not, isn't the value of the vehicles based on fair market value then? Any help with this issue would be greatly appreciated. read more
