According to the flowers market vender, this store is good. There was a long line out side on a Saturday afternoon, we were standing at the bar eating like locals to avoid waiting for a table. The beer is very good with cheaper price than in big cities. The fried fish is their specialty in Cadiz, we had two plates with different seafood, calamari, prawns, three different kinds of fish, they are good but not great! We love the squid salad! This spot. Wooheee. We actually learned about it from Lonely Planet, Frommer's or some travel book and all the other tourist's know about is well after seeing the lines for to-go. However, I did spy some local old men trying to enjoy their lunch, as well and they were all drinking a beer and eatin' paella. One side is the tavern, with outside seating and the other side is to go fried fish in a paper cone. The to-go side was PACKED, so we snagged a spot at the bar on the other side and quickly ordered up 4 beers, a tapa size of the paella and a fried fish platter for 2. The paella was delicious and the fried fish platter was huge, with chunks of fried fish, whole fish, calamares, cod croquettes and more. I'm not the most adventurous fish eater, and I went for it. Not fancy at all, but just super fresh seafood, breaded and deep fried. Not a ton of flavor in the breading, but all good. All that food for about $20 USD. Not too shabby. read more

Food at the restaurant was very good. Many types of dishes to choose from. The staff was also very helpful, they told us when we ordered enough food and made sure we did not order too much. The only problem I had was the cleanliness. When I received my utensils and plates they were not fully clean. I asked to change them but they were still dirty. The other thing was the atmosphere inside, it was very loud, many customers where yelling but it was not a problem for me. Overall I think the cleanliness thing was probably just for me because I found no other reviews about this. I would recommend this for anyone who likes seafood and doesn't mind a noisy experience. This place is a magnet for everyone who knows and even those who do NOT know of its seafood. All kinds of fried seafood including calamari, chocos, a variety of different fish (usually with a bone), fish eggs, etc. You get the idea. I went with a Rota friend to see Cadiz again, and it was a hot day and by time we got to the plaza, it was crowded in- and outdoors. Luckily an empty table was spotted outdoors and we sat and started the wait for the waiter to order. The secret here is that the waiters are always busy since this spot is such a BIG draw. One better way to do it is have a friend sit at the table, and the other go inside to order their seafood. The waiter will be upset knowing now you're not ordering through him, but at least you'll get your food "quicker" (if the line inside is long, perhaps not) and you'll be able to point if you just get what looks good (it all is delicious). Outside, it took about 10mins to order drinks, another 5mins to actually get it, then wave down the waiter again to order, etc. You get the idea. I ordered fried shrimp, a fish, and tortillitas de camarones since my friend hasn't eaten this before. I've been here a total of five times and while the food is usually hot and fresh, the waiting time can be rather LOOOONG no matter if you're visiting or live here. If you're not thinking of ordering anything else after you get your order(s), ask already for the bill as soon as the food is delivered; that will cut down on the waiting later just to pay! In the case of holiday weekends, hot days, cruise ships inport (as was the case today - TWO), or just during the summer, there will be such a wait for tables in- and outdoors there will be a casual line of people of waitng for you to empty your seat and leave. This is typical so don't feel you have to hurry, though no one will object to your consideration! We paid UNDER 15€ for a beer, a soda, a tapa of pescado frito, picos (the small tiny breadsticks in a plastic bag), and the two tortillitas de camarones. Available is a larger plate of various seafood for under 20€ but you need more than two with a big appetite, or a bigger group to make it worth the while. I've had that before and it's very filling. We crammed into the bar here on a busy lunchtime - come at off-hours if you want an outdoor table! - and from there you can only order tapas portions. Fish is the speciality, especially if its fried, and they do a terrific job. We devoured everything - the hot crisp boquerones (fried anchovies - you'll find them everywhere, but they are lush here), a potato salad with buttery fresh tuna on top, and a bright octopus salad were particular highlights (it's nice not EVERYTHING was fried!) I'd skip the croquettes and focus on the fish. Go nuts - it's all cheap and delicious. And if you're sick of beer, get a fresh orange juice; it's absolutely divine. read more
