I am here for a visit and I will say I AM used to living in a single family home, so I thought maybe my sensitivity to the ongoing noise (from within and without) was just me; thank gawd it's not me. I would also like to venture that many in this area are not familiar with Yelp or there would be more reviews like mine. My daughter and her husband moved into this building several months ago. Unfortunately they rented a unit that is now facing construction that appears to be going, non-stop, 6 days a week! There was no construction, in sight or disclosed, when they initially signed their lease. The apartment itself is beautiful. It is spacious, has high-end finishes and two large bedrooms and baths with granite counter tops in bathrooms and kitchen. Yet, how can one possibly enjoy watching TV or having a glass of wine on the terrace with CONSTANT NOISE? Last night I swear the people above NEVER stopped walking. NEVER. I also think the upstairs tenants walk on their heels! My daughter told me it was actually worse before she complained! Although located in a very trendy and upcoming area I would definitely think again about renting in this building. To me, the bad just doesn't outweigh the good. P.S. This is a nice little apartment community in a nice little town that has a lot to offer. My…read moregrandmother lived there years ago and now I do. Set on Main St., it is near the golf course and what we call ``the old lake''. It is a little lake that separates the apartment lawn from a couple of houses and part of the golf course, it has fishing and some wildlife. Apartments are 1 and 2 bedroom and even thought this was built in the 60's , it has been kept up very very well. There is a community room for use of residents for free and others for a charge, and a small laundry room attached for resident use at a very low charge, $.50 per load. It is an all age community and is income based. It is easy walking distance to the City Meat Market which is a small grocery store and meat market, the Post Office, Senior Center and 2 full service restaurant/bars, the library, and further down an Ice cream parlor/restaurant. There is a gas station, gas station/tire shop, several churches and a nice bank. People are friendly. Its a clean little town that has held it's own even though the high way bypasses it now. They have a Dollar General up by the highway so you can find most of what you need right in Hooper and by the way it is pronounced like cooker. Peaceful and nice.
