The perfect place for a pit stop. I intended only to buy a grapefruit juice and some postcards, but ended up with a crawfish hand pie. Delicious, with a flakey crust and a savory spicy filling. First time here. I'm a Texas girl. Amazing food! They have quite an an operation. Lots of people in line for food. Super organized. They have the best cinnamon scone in the world, and the pineapple, and the blueberry. Ok, get the meat pie, but don't not-get the bacon- and-cheese stuffed tater tots or the breakfast sandwich. Just heat them up later if you get too much for breakfast! I loved the frozen food section. Got me some dirty- rice-stuffed-chicken and some Boudain y'all! Come hongry! read more

I Normally stop here on my way to New Orleans. I love their meat pies and the dessert its delicious. Sadly it's not a good bathroom break place. I Really don't understand how a busy gas/food place that gets so much traffic and makes tons of revenue can have such outdated and dirty restrooms. The smell of urine actually made my hunger go away. That makes me sad cause I really use to like this place. We May have to switch to a different location until they can figure it out. read more

The crawfish pies at this location do not disappoint they are very flavorful not too spicy but with a little bit of a kick no extra grease coming out when you bite into the meat pie just nice juice the way it should be. They are a tad bit pricey however it's worth it. the Sweet potato cake was tasty but for the price you may as well just buy a whole cake instead of an individual serving. read more

Not friendly for mommas with babies - bathroom is not very clean, the baby changing table is broken so it won't raise to allow ease of access into & out of the stall where it is located, staff told me I couldn't bring my backpack in which was in fact a diaper bag. Staff also mix up orders at the register after you place one at the food counters so you will likely end up with someone else's food. read more

I am a Louisiana girl with a traveler's heart. I saw this restaurant and had to stop in for a bite. The location was great right off the main Interstate. We decided to order To-Go. The boudin balls were not my favorite but with a bit of ketchup. Bam! These crawfish or original meat pies are amazing. The crust on the pie is my favorite part. SOOOOO Fresh! The service for food was rushed and impersonal. The meat pies were doughy and did not have much flavor. The boudin balls were also bland, with a poor grade of boudin or lack of boudin. I'll be looking for somewhere else to eat next time I go Natchitoches. The coffee was good and the fish was OK, and the other store items were what you'd expect. But, look elsewhere for your meat pies and boudin. read more

Man - these guys deliver the goods! We went on a Sunday evening - split a Shrimp po boy on French bread, boudin balls and 2 spicy meat pies - grabbed a beer out of the cooler and we ate inside - this is a restaurant with a convenience store attached - must visit if you are in area. read more

Stop to gas up before I get to my hotel. The place is clean but once you head inside the restroom, it was so nasty with tp all on the ground the toilet seat. They are connected to a gas station and sell lots of souvenir items with hot food and yummy deserts. I got the pralines cupcakes and the white chocolate with macadamia cookie. The cookies was huge and they did not skim on the white chocolate or macadamia. It was really tasty. The cupcake was has way too much frosting. Don't get me wrong, the cupcake was good but I'm not into way too much frosting. read more

Don't let the gas station setting fool you. They have the best burgers in own! The kitchen has a menu for ordering specific items fresh, and they also have grab-and-go items like meat pies and boudin. DE-LI-CIOUS. On a road trip from New Orleans to Dallas, we made a rest stop in Natchitoches to get some Louisiana grub and gas. Thanks to yelp we found this French Market Express that has a bakery full of goodies and po boy sandwiches, immediately I looked at the menu and ordered the cat fish po boy sandwich. Wow, I got it with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, mayo and mustard with French bread. It was delectable. Also, if you look at my photos you will see that not only is it a gas station and bakery but a little market as well to buy some on the road snack drinks, wink, and surprisingly to me they had eggnog. Also, if you need to buy some last minute souvenirs or toys for kids this is the place to get them, if you are in the area. Overall, service was friendly and fast. Hence, the 5 stars. read more

We had read some reviews that this was a good place to stop and I had always heard that some of the best places to eat in Louisiana were the places in gas stations, so we went to the French Market Express for lunch as we passed through the area. We decided to get three different items to try and share them as our lunch. The shrimp po-boy was classic Louisiana with a great french bread roll, fried shrimp, lettuce, onion and tomato. The sandwich was flavorful and delicious. We also tried the crawfish pie which was served really hot. The heat of the filling was extreme and I had to work hard to get it to the point that I could eat it without burning my mouth. Once I got it there the pie was really good and filled with great crawfish. I am not an expert on Boudin balls, but I enjoyed them and need to try more so see how they rank. The other amazing thing here are the shelves of cookies. We got a variety of cookies to take with us. We have not tried them all yet but they look really delicious. read more

There was only one cashier and lots of confusion because customers didn't know where to get in line. The restrooms were dirty. Go next door, or somewhere else. I ordered a chef's salad from the French Market. It came with tomatoes, bell peppers, boiled eggs, onions, croutons, and shredded cheddar cheese. I also added some shrimp to the salad as well. On their menu the salad was priced at 6.49. I assumed the shrimp wouldn't be more than $3, and I was mistaken. I was charge $4.49 extra for about 8-10 tiny shrimp, which is absurd. I was also charged $0.60 for one little ramekin of Italian dressing, which is also absurd. Everything tasted fine, but next time I'm gonna go to Wendy's next door and not spend $12.73 on an average sized salad. read more

Store has a deli, sells liquor, and is very clean. Mens room has 4 urinals and 2 stalls. Very busy in this area and pumps are full. TIP: there are 3 additional pumps behind the store that very few people use. Gas prices are the same as Raceway next door. read more

If you want a quick stop for gas and some tasty treats, you have to stop here! We didn't quite have time for a long sit down meal so we stopped here after to reading other reviews. I would recommend a couple of meat pies (spicy or crawfish), a couple of crispicitos (chicken and cheese stuffs roll ups fried), and finish with dessert. The Togas are incredible! There is more seating area than you would expect and everything is kept pretty clean. I will certainly stop again if we're passing through. read more

This is an interesting gas station. I stopped here on my way to Dallas, but didn't go inside. On the way back I stopped here and went in. I am glad I did. This place is much more than a gas station. Wines of Louisiana, meat pies and bakery items are all available for purchase. We tried an apple turnover and oatmeal raisin cookie. The cookie was huge and very good. The turnover was flaky (in a good way) and tasty. The bathrooms were old and not in great condition. I noticed a sign in the men's room that explained that the toilet seat was broken, and to be careful. The employees were very nice and helpful and I will make this my go-to station on the way to Dallas. read more
