I was a little perturbed. We needed an asbestos survey done. Never have I done one before, so was…read moreunsure what to expect. We got 3 quotes. 2 of which were in the $1500 range. Western Environmental told us they would charge us 2 hours at $65/hr and probably 10 samples at $30 each, which would equate to about $430. I should have thought something was up. When they showed up of course the amount of samples was revised to 30. When we got the invoice, low and behold it turns out there was 45 samples taken and 2 hours. Big surprise, just over $1500. I am not upset that I have to pay the going rate. I hate the deception, out and out lies. I told my wife prior to getting the results we should just ignore them and get someone else even if it cost more. My wife called them and complained. They honored the second quote, and we ended paying $1176. Wow how nice of them. I learned about layering. although they only took 30 samples apparently they can break down 1 sample into many and charge accordingly. Of course they educate you after the fact once you already feel disgusted by there tactics. We did follow up with the lab that did the testing and they were telling the truth about "layering".
