Just had the most unprofessional experience here. My man and I came to his 5pm appointment 15 minutes early and the gates were closed. We waited 10 minutes to see if the owner would show. After we waited with no show we called him to ask his whereabouts. During this call he proceeded to admit that he had forgot about our appointment then lied and said he had just left the shop 5 minutes ago and scolded us for waiting for him and not calling immediately. This is when we should have left but we agreed to wait for him to come back. When he did come he called us liars claiming "we couldn't have waited that long because he had just left". He was rude, untimely, and ultimately made us feel terrible. Go somewhere else. I'd give no stars if I could. read more

Gene is back! Years ago, I went with my friend to get her sweet 10yo and picky 17yo teen haircuts by Gene, when he had Headquarters Barber Studio in Reseda. Fast forward to now - the 10yo is 18yo and is now the picky teen. The 17yo is now 25 and even when he was away for college, has made a point to see Gene every time he comes home. These guys were both super excited to be one of the first ones to come in to Fresh Cuts to see Gene, and get all cleaned up! The shop isn't even fully done, but they literally begged to get in with him - and he was happy to oblige his long time customers. They loved the big TV & great lighting, & jazz music - such a great vibe here. Since we are in the time of Covid, all safety protocols are taken here, so my friend felt super safe when her boys told her they were going in. She's known Gene for all these years, so even though she doesn't need to drive the boys here anymore, she sends her hellos with them because Gene has seen her boys grow up. I had a walk in haircut with Mr. Gene, and I can confidently say that it was one of my best hair cuts from a barber yet. Gene gave me a quality taper that naturally descended and fit my hairline and face shape to the tee. Being a first time client I was curious to see if he would take his time cutting my hair. Most barbers seem to rush through the process especially if you give them free reign of how to cut your hair. I told Gene that I'd like a taper with a 2-3 on the sides and nothing more. I told him I'm trying to grow my comb over back and he understood the brief exactly. Gene took his time and cut hair precisely and with detail. Gene is a professional and perfectionist. He is truly amazing, none of the attitude and the feeling like the barber is doing you a favor cutting your hair. The shop is clean and in a great location. I have been looking for a new barber since my barber I have been loyal to for over ten years started acting like I was a walk-in. I am old school and when it comes to haircuts, I expect professionalism, no razor bumps, and a straight razor bald fade and straight razor shave with a hot towel before and after. Gene is the ultimate professional, price is higher then the average shop but every penny was worth it. After giving me my straight edge shave he said, "Here comes the fire!" I was like OK, I have had after shave before and it stings but he was right. The fire came, but it was worth it, no razor bumps, no cuts, no dirty razor. It was ALL GOOD! Since the pandemic started I haven't wanted to risk getting my hair cut, but after 7 months of that I was starting to look like a crazy caveman on my Zoom calls. A friend of mine said her 2 boys have had their hair cut by Gene for almost 10 years now and his new location was barely even open yet. Barely open sounded about as clean as I could hope for so I took a chance and asked her to see if Gene would let me come in. He was as nice as you can imagine and let me come in the same day. He warned me that he only had one temporary chair and the place wasn't finished yet but yeah, fine with me.  I feel like a brand new man after my cut. Gene was masked the whole time and has masks for clients right at the door which made me feel very secure. I see a straight razor shave with a steamy eucalyptus towel in my future here. Awesome barbershop! Came in on Wednesday evening about 515, and Gene hooked me up with a fresh cut for a job interview I had the next day. I Haven't been to a barbershop in years because I cut my hair Bald myself I figured I'd save money. Gene showed just because your bald doesn't mean you have to miss out on a great cut and shave. Then you get a mini spa treatment when he hits you with the warm eucalyptus towel. The shop has a really good atmosphere, chill music, chest set, and no one's pants hanging to ground smoking and drinking, just a place for someone to grab a great cut along with some good conversation. I moved to the valley recently and needed a new barber, and luckily I found Gene! This man is a fantastic barber that can meet all your hair needs (which is why I'm now a regular here) The atmosphere is inviting and he's punctual AND he'll get you right quickly! His shop is clean and he's stringently following all COVID protocols so I was able to have peace of mind while getting a haircut.
