I drove past Brix Mansion probably a hundred times before I actually stopped to look at it properly…read moreand I'm annoyed it took me that long. this building is stunning. built in 1889 and it still commands the whole block on Fresno Street. the architecture is the kind you just don't see anymore, ornate, detailed, genuinely grand. standing in front of it you get this weird feeling like you accidentally walked into a different century. it's on the National Register of Historic Places which it absolutely deserves. Fresno has more history than people give it credit for and Brix Mansion is one of the best physical reminders of that. if you're into architecture, local history, or just beautiful old buildings it's worth a deliberate visit not just a drive by. bring your camera because the photos basically take themselves. it's the kind of thing that makes you proud your city has preserved it and also a little sad most locals probably don't know its there. now you do. go look at it.

There is no parking around its since its really close to the community hospital, I would suggest parking on R street near the church and take the opportunity to appreciate and take pictures of this architecture marvel. If you must know the building was constructed for Herman H. and Helena S. Brix in 1910-1911. Herman H. Brix made a pioneering contribution to the development of Coalinga and was influential in the commercial expansion of Fresno. In addition to its historical associations, the Brix Mansion possesses considerable architectural significance. Designed by architect Edward T. Foulkes, it represents a brilliant example of a period-inspired Italian Villa, the only residence in Fresno built in this lavishly-embellished style. Parking is available right in front of the building which you can pay for by credit card or cash. Security staff was friendly but remember to have your appointment invite ready to show them, in order to get into the building. Security was a metal detector and x-ray scanner just like at the airport, and we also had to remove our shoes. You check in on the first floor, just past security, are given a number, then take the elevator to the second floor waiting room. We waited a short time in the waiting room before an officer entered the waiting room, called our number, and led us to our interview room. It looks like for other types of visits, your number will appear on a TV screen (just like the DMV) and you simply approach one of the counters in the waiting room. Our actual interview was maybe 10 minutes and pleasant enough. We brought any and all documentation we could think of for our case, but only ended up showing our mortgage paperwork. Our case was approved on the spot. Overall it was a pretty easy visit and we didn't have a negative experience with anyone working there. Also note that as of November 2021 everyone is still wearing masks in this office so plan to bring one.

The USCIS website is fairly user friendly and has a lot of useful information. There's a decent amount of parking around the building, most of it metered so bring quarters. There are also a few different parking lots within a quarter-mile walk if it's busy. They don't seem to be super strict about arrival times: as long as you have an appointment letter they'll check you in then you'll wait to be called regardless of what you're there for. Inside it's a modern building, really clean. Inside the door there's a guard who checks your appointment letter (so be sure to bring that) and ID. There's security to enter the building - an x-ray scanner for personal items and a walk-through metal detector. I was asked to remove my shoes. Then there's another check-in point where they'll put you in the system and tell you where to go. The waiting room I've been in for appointments here is pretty big and spacious, with two restrooms and screens around to display which number is being served (like at a deli). They're not strict about cell phone use (as in using your phone in your hand, not calls) but I usually bring a book. As government buildings go it's a pleasant enough place to wait, but as with all government service buildings I think everyone would probably feel less anxious about waiting if they were to play some quiet music. I've found the staff to be professional, courteous and helpful here, from security to check-in to processing.

I decided to take the trip out there it is about 25 minutes away from the Fresno fig Garden branch library it is a very small library in a parking lot that is behind a store. To my surprise when I went inside there was a lot of room inside the library it was very clean and neatly organized . There was a very nice library in there who printed some bookmarks on her 3-D printer and gave one to me and my son. There was a young man in there making some arts and crafts and there was a children section. we also happen to use the restroom which was well-maintained nice and clean. As a mom who has to study sometimes I may use this library more quiet place to study because it's not as busy as the Fresno library usually is. It's also in a nicer part of town and it was easy to get to you just have to keep your eyes open for the library because it's in the furthest corner in the back of the lot. The nice lady at the counter was a younger woman and she showed us her 3d printer and that it printed its own replacement part!

If you don't mind going through a phalanx of security and metal detectors, you will be able to see what is one of the most beautiful brutalist style architecture federal court houses in the country. It is richly yet simply appointed with a blend between natural materials, stones, ceramics, metal and glass. Like my favorite in design, the materials and simplify do the talking. The scale is drop dead gorgeous and even the landscape show every bit of it it's $127 million budget. So glad I went off the beaten path to see this beautiful addition to the city. What a treat for the senses and so quiet, roomy...just the way I like it! The kids area is spacious and has great book selection and fun crafts to enjoy. My teens were able to explore the anime section, and there were chess and checkers to play. There were also puzzles out to play as well. The library is full of interesting books, magazines, cds, dvds, etc. I would recommend to set aside at least 2 hours to enjoy the full library. The staff are weird and watched us like we're going to steal, although the library is full of unhoused transients, and we were just a family enjoying the library. Very uncomfortable and not welcoming! Will we be back? Yes, because family fun in Fresno is limited and we do enjoy the library. Can they improve the experience, definitely. Also the chairs were mostly gross and they could definitely use an update.

We usually spend about 45 minutes to an hour inside just browsing around... If you have a library card you can rent up to 25 books and keep them for 3 weeks! I don't need 25 books I usually get myself one and get 3 for my son so he can read and use them for his homework. I have been paying for parking using my phone it's about 1.50 for my hour using the parking meter. There are a lot of homeless outside but they give out smiles and don't bother nobody at all but if it's your first time there it can be a little nerve wracking. The few books I have rented were brand new. I did spill a little bit of coffee on it and I told them when I tuned it on and they said it was still in great condition. My son loves the kid selection and even he gets excited to read. Don't go out and buy a book when you can rent it from out own Fresno library
