This review is overdue, but outstanding service from Lamar and Lanice at Frette Boston (hopefully I got their names right). I needed one more plum colored bath mat, its a discontinued color in the States. They worked to find me one, and had it shipped out to our new condo. It was just one mat, but they spent the extra time to find it, follow up with me, and ship it out. Fill your pockets with cash or plastic with a hefty credit limit before coming in here. Dressing your bed to the nines will cost you a pretty penny. I stopped in with some friends while strolling through the area. Our favorite item was the $14,000 mink blanket. I immediately pictured it on Hugh Hefner's revolving bed. The feel of it was priceless. Or you may find the $200 cashmere booties closer to your price range. I don't know how this place can survive unless people are flying out of the Mandarin keeping it in business. The store isn't that large. They had about 5 sales people hanging out pacing the floor, looking to close a sale. We were the only ones in there and they all struck up a conversation with us, probably from boredom. The sheets are lovely and probably the only practical thing in there. I got some good decorating ideas looking at the staging. read more

I recently spent almost $2K with Frette, and from the interaction with the sales clerks to the products themselves, the experience was not satisfactory. This is the first and last time I will shop at Frette. Here are some of the lessons from this experience: Lesson #1 is for potential clients: Know the returns policy before you buy and make sure you see it in writing. I went to the store to buy white sheets and a white coverlet for my bed. I saw a beautiful wool throw blanket while I was there and was taken by the color/softness. It was quite expensive (closing in on $600!) but it was incredibly beautiful. The sales person said to me to take it home and try it and 'you can always bring it back.' I did not clarify the returns policy; my fault. I took the sales person's statement at face value. Well, I took it home and unfortunately it didn't work as well as I thought in my living room. So...I took it back. WRONG! Turns out that Frette only processes store credits. Therefore I was out the ~$600 and had to apply this credit to another in-store purchase. Please keep in mind that other products that they sell are non-returnable; just FYI. Lesson #2 is for Frette: Frette needs to work on its retail transaction system. I was unable to actually use this store credit on Frette's website; everything had to be processed through the sales representative in the physical store. I had to call (and eventually go back to the store) to buy another product and use up my ~$600 credit. No bueno. Lesson #3 is also for Frette: When I went back to the store to reconcile my transaction and try to spend my credit, I worked with a very nice, logical employee to calculate the transaction and determine the final price of my new transaction. Ok, done. Another sales rep called me 30 minutes after I left the store and said that in fact I owed $130 more dollars. It turns out she had not spoken to her colleague and didn't understand the transaction at all. I had to explain to her again why the transaction was correct. So, lesson #3 is for employees to actually speak to each other and understand transactions before calling clients to telling them they owe money. Also, the excuse "I'm not good at math" is not valid. Lesson #4 is for potential customers: The first time that I put my pillow into one of my new shams the seam started to rip along the edge. This is unfortunate because although it is small it appears that it will continue to unravel. I would suggest you closely examine the stitching on the products that you're buying to make sure there are no obvious defects. read more

Yes, it was far pricier than I had anticipated. However, we ended up with the bedding set of our dreams for our new condo. We found exactly what we were looking for. 5 star hotel quality bedding with service to match. Plus, we happened to come in when everything we wanted was 30% off. I can imagine purchasing luxury linens over the internet, since it is the feel of the material which makes it so obviously special. Lamar was fantastic and I feel fortunate to be able to lay down to sleep in an earthly heaven. Now, if only I could afford the cashmere robe....:-). read more

Wonderful store filled with the most beautiful linens you can possibly imagine. I find it a little funny that people keep mentioning that Frette is expensive in their reviews (in a shocked way). Frette is a luxury brand and in this car especially, you get what you pay for. The team that works at Frette is kind, genuinely friendly and takes their time to educate. While I was visiting they told me how happy they were to help a longtime client have his seven year old sheets mended so he could get more use out of them, and they marveled at how soft and beautiful they were. Lamar is absolutely lovely, and I would highly recommend this store is you would like your bed to feel like the one at the Mandarin Oriental. read more

Yes...fill your pockets with money before enterring! Also make sure you read the fine print because any returns are very much discouraged!! We vacation frequently and stay at hotels that use Frette sheets so we were excited when the store opened in Boston and we could replace some of our threadbare sheets with a more luxurious product. Make no mistake...these sheets feel nice but definitely need to be washed and worn-in before you get the softness that you are lead to believe they possess. Also, I had the WORST retail experience ever with this company. After getting my products home and deciding that I did not care for the look of a few in my bedroom, I went to either return or exchange said products. To say that the employees treated me like a criminal is putting it mildly. They took each individual item out of the package and scrutinized every inch. If they had a bright light and magnifying glass available I'm sure they would have used that as well! Pairing a high pressure sales technique with a no return under any circumstance policy is a bad experience!! After returning and purchasing three sheet sets and towels due to a hard-fought-for store credit, I can say that I do not believe these products to be worth the exorbitant price. Go to Macy's and buy their higher quality bedding and you will probably be just as pleased, or more since you would still have money left AND a typically no hassle return if necessary. read more

Yes, this place is pricey to put it lightly, but you definitely get what you pay for (and even more if you happen to come in during an end-of-season sale). I have purchased both sheets (Edmond Frette) and towels (Checkerboard) here, and a year after they are still in perfect condition. The towels are plush and absorbent, from the bath towels to the bath mats, very good quality Turkish cotton (and actually made in Turkey) that doesn't fray and somehow still looks new after numerous washes. I am spoiled by these towels and often miss them when I'm away from home! The sheets, however, are what this brand is really known for and there's a reason why they are ubiquitous in luxury hotels worldwide. They just feel like heaven! I purchased a couple different sets from the Edmond Frette line on sale (the most "affordable" line they have, I'm no baller and cannot justify spending close to $1,000 for their more high-end lines) and they have been great value for the quality. As the sales associate told me, they actually get better with every wash, and sure enough, my flat and fitted sheets are as soft and smooth as butter and really make getting into bed that much more relaxing. The Edmond Frette line also lets you mix and match items so you don't have to buy a giant set at once. The designs are also a bit more colorful and fun than their more classic lines. New designs come out every season and I always find something I like. Lastly, I would probably not love Frette so much if I did not receive wonderful, amazing service at the store, which I do - EVERY SINGLE TIME. Ailly and Lamar are always so helpful and attentive and if I had oodles of cash to spare I would come here just to give them a sale, they're that awesome! They always remember me when I come in and remember what I like and they really make the whole experience that much better. The store itself is beautifully set up and I would come by a lot more if not for the fact that I nearly always walk out with something new, whether I need it or not! Anyway, if you want that little bit of extra luxury in your everyday life, Frette is the place to go! read more
